  Scalp Psoriosis Solutions
« on: June 20, 2006, 08:43:29 AM » by WithLoveAndJoy
For the last four or five years I have struggled with psoriosis of my scalp.  Lately I have been able to bring it under a measure of control by shampooing with tea tree oil shampoo a couple of times a week, but would like to hear what other solutions that others may use/may know of.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and Welcome!
I have had some experience with eczema and scalp dryness in the past.  Only recently did we try olive oil blended with conditioner and I must say, THE RESULTS WERE STUPENDOUS!!!  My hair has never been softer and more manageable.  I use almost no shampoo, only a quarter size drop once or twice a week. My hair is almost to my waist so you can see this is a very small amount.  I condition, condition, and condition some more.  I did not realize that my hair was suffering from dehydration.  We live in Brasil so we don't use a blow dryer or curling irons.  I am sure this has a positive effect on our hair.  The recipe I used was on this thread: Taking Care of Curly Hair

Have a GREAT Day!

I had troubles with my scalp for about 10 years.  I posted my personal experience and my solutions in another thread.  CLICK HERE for details.

Candida can also be a factor.  CLICK HERE for some information on Candida.

I have wondered if I had a yeast imbalance, as I am a sugar addict and have tried to eliminate it with limited success.  I am surprised that it could be behind the psoriosis.  But I want to give it a try.

I am getting the SuperMom suplement, should I wait until after I detox to try the Yeast Assassin?  And How will I know when to stop taking the Yeast Assassin?  Do you take it every day or only when you are trying to remove candida?

It really depends on how bad you have it.  It could take a few weeks and it could take a few months.  Taking Yeast Assassin along with SuperMom will actually speed up the process a bit.  The detoxifiers in Supermom could help you rid your body of the toxins that build up from killing the yeast.

I took a month's worth of Yeast Assassin and Tummy Tune up and some SuperMom(trouble with the Iron).  I also cut out sugar entirely (gluten, lactose and starches too) for 2 weeks.  After the two weeks, my cravings for sugar subsided and I eat very little of it now just because it doesn't taste good.  I had very good results.  The die-off may cause more symptoms in other areas of the body (skin, vaginal, tummy, etc), but it should only last a day or two unless you've got it really bad.  I used some topical treatments to alleviate symptoms in the process.  I had very good luck within a month, but have had some relapse symptoms after a month without, so I'm going to go for another round for maybe a month or two.

Keep in mind, killing the candida won't do you any good if you don't restore the natural flora in your gut.  Without the helpful benefits from probiotics in some form, the candida WILL return.

If you find that the candida treatment helps but doesn't cure, you may also have some damage to the intestines caused by the candida.  CLICK HERE for more info on leaky gut syndrome.

After another month on the Yeast Assassin, I intend to take L Glutamine and Cod Liver Oil supplements to try to speed up my intestinal recovery.  I got them very cheap at WalMart, but I"m sure most of your good supplement suppliers sell these supplements as well.

I had problems for YEARS, probably about 20 years, with what I first through was "dandruff"  then later realized it was more than that.  Several years ago, not long after I found out I was allergic to SOY and was trying to learn to eliminate it from my diet, I went to camp with our kids from church and happened to read my hair spray bottle, because my scalp was bothering me.  SURPRISE:  There was "soy protein" in my hair spray, and tocopheryl acetate or Vitamin E in many of my hair care products.  I changed that and I don't think this has been a problem now for about 5 years.  It is AMAZING too.  Occasionally I will think I am having problems again, BUT...one time I had been using dh's hair spray and not realizing it was different, and it was the soy protein AGAIN.
This was also true with waking up sick and wheezing some mornings.  Dh's toiletries were making me SICK before I ever got out of the bed.  I just can lovingly pick up those items for him (he can be independent and not tell me when he is running out) and then I pick up things that don't make me sick.  YEAH!
sorry to babble too much.
