I had a prenatal appointment at 6:30pm on Monday at which time my midwife said I was dilated to 3 and she sweeped my membranes.  I felt BH for a few hours then at about midnight I started having bad contractions.  I went downstairs and read the "reduced pain in childbirth" thread on WTM to make sure I was doing everything I could.  I took a lot of vit C, calc, and magnesium.  I did some dishes but I was being so clumsy I almost broke all of our favorite mugs.  The contractions were strong and I didn't know how to relax through them, so I wandered around the house trying to breathe them out and trying not to wake anyone up.  I called my midwife at about 2:30 and told her what was going on and she said to try to relax through them (we have had a lot of false alarms) and go back to sleep.  I was pretty sure I was in active labor but I didn't want to argue with her after the month we had just had of contractions that faded out.  So I laid in bed and started to relax and even dreamed between them.  She called me suddenly at about 3:45 and said she was coming over, and I didn't want to tell her not to, but I was concerned the labor might be fading out since I was dreaming in between, and contractions were 7 or 8 minutes apart.  I prayed very hard that God would let me be done, even though I had only been at it for a few hours, but I just kept praying that He would let me have the baby as soon as the midwife got here.  She got to my house and got set up and listened to the baby at 4:30.  She woke up my husband so he could call in sick to work, then she suggested I labor in the bathtub to help with the pain and I thought that was a great idea.  Getting in the tub was hard and the ctrx were so strong I could not take off my own night gown, so as my huband was taking it off  I realized I was pushing.  I yelled out that I was pushing and the midwife came in to ask if I wanted to stay in the tub for a water birth.  I didn't really feel like getting up at that point, so I said sure and pushed him out with one more push.  So out came my chubby little boy, just 9 minutes after my midwife had gotten set up and checked on us.  I couldn't believe it really had just happened and sat in the tub in disbelief with a cute little boy crying on me.  Was I really done already?  So I thank God that He spared me and let me be done when I asked Him to.  My husband was in shock also because he figured we still had a good 10 hours of labor ahead of us.  So all in all, I did not have that many contractions, and they were painful, but so few and far between I was already thinking about how I wanted more babies.  And I learned that with God, even if you don't think you deserve it, it never hurts to ask.  Thank you so much God!  I really appreciate the abbreviated childbirth experience!

Yes, Wing VERY much deserved (IMO  Grin) a short labor/delivery after all the pre-labor, and the other 3 huge long labors she's gone through. Being a close in real life friend of hers, all of her friends and I have been praying since baby #1 that she'd have a short labor Grin So... THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's my turn  Wink Well, Sunday morning (Palm Sunday) I woke up and had some contractions which I knew were labor ones, started in the back and radiated to the front so I kept it to myself until I was really really sure.  All my other babies were 2 weeks early and this one was right on time, maybe a day past my due date.  Anyways, went about my business, cleaning, and went on my weekly grocery shopping trip.  The contractions were like 10-15 minutes apart.  By early afternoon I let hubby know and all the kids who have been asking "when is the baby comin mama?)  I hung out all afternoon, tried to take a nap and the contractions were coming every 5 minutes.  I let  the midwife know what was going on to give her a "heads up."  The labor was not in an active pattern at all - all afternoon.  Wierd.  So they changed in length and strength so I called the midwife.  I think she showed up around 5:30.  I was 4 cm and 50% effaced.  She sent me on a half hour walk marching no less, evidently that helps open the pelvis.  So I marched around the neighborhood and was then 5 cm.   It took a long time to get to 6 cm and fully effaced.  The baby was so high that she was giving me no help at all....the contractions were doing all the work...no fun.  Continued to walk, take showers, etc.  She checked me at 10:25 pm and I was 6 cm but fully effaced.  I headed back outside to walk and labor in the dark and the wonderful fresh air.  She figured several more hours...About 45 minutes later I had a wicked contraction and started to push...I was at the end of the driveway grabbing on to the back of the van.  O.k. hunny, when this one is done you need to move very quickly in the house and up the stairs.  He called the midwife upstairs and she checked me - I was 10 cm....yeah...

I could not for the life of me figure out a comfortable pusching position.  I was on all fours until the bulging bag busted and soaked everyone in the room.  Really freaked out my 10 year old.   So side lying was it.  She was a nucal arm (arm came out with the face) so I took it slow pusching her fat head out.  She was born at 11:29 pm.  9 lbs. 3 oz. 21 1/2 inches long.  Head circum. of 14  Shocked plus the hand.   I don't know if I'm embarassed or not, haven't made up my mind, but I didn't even tear  Roll Eyes  She did manage to get a few hot compresses, but no time for olive oil or nothing.  She is awesome...she nursed for like 3 hours straight and I can't imagine ever having a hospital birth after this wonderful home birth.  God is so faithful,  I was so reminded throughout that we have not because we ask not.  Deep down I wanted a little girl, never would admit it and everyone thought I was having a boy, but God knew, even the deepest desires of my heart he gladly provided.  Thank you Jesus!

OK, I finally got some time to write my birth story.  To everyone who was waiting, I'm sorry it took so long.  Our internet was not working for a few days and it got fixed just yesterday.  I'm not very good at writing stories, so I'll try my best.  Roll Eyes Sorry if it turns out to be kind of long.  Tongue

This was my first all natural home birth, which actually  turned out to be an unassisted home birth.  And I really mean an unassisted! Grin

It all started on Fri morning the 21st at 3:00 am.  I woke up with a painful contx, thinking it was probably just nothing, I tried to fall back asleep.  I lay  there for about 15 min and noticed they were about 5-6 min apart so I started to time them.  For the next 1 1/2 hour they came around 4-5 min apart and lasting about 40-50 sec.  They weren't that painfull either.  At around 4:20 I called my midwife, told her what was happening and she said to give her a call back when they last 60 sec or more, or she'll call me back at 7:00.  I went to watch some TV, ate a bowl of cereal and just waited.  At 6:30 my midwife calls me (since she got up already) and asks me how I'm doing.  I was still having contx that were about 4-5 min apart and 45-50 sec long, but they were more painful.  She said that's good and asked me if it will be OK for her to take a shower and drop by the clinic (which is about 20 min away from where I live) to get my charts, and then come over.  I said I'll be fine because I thought I still had a couple of hours to go.  After we hung up I woke up my DH and told him to get the kids ready to take to grandmas.  By the time they got ready, we got the bed ready for the birth, the contx were getting closer and really painful.  I must have been making noises because my DS came in to the room and asked "Are you hurting mama?".
I told my DH to hurry up.
After they left I filled the bathtub with water to sit and relax in.  Then everything went so fast!
I started to get REALLY painful contx about every min.  I grabbed my cell phone, called my MW and told her that they are coming about every min so she needs to hurry.   She told me she was at the clinic and was just leaving to head to my house.  I told her I was in the bath tub so she should just go in  in case my DH wouldn't be here yet.
I climbed in the tub.  The warm water did help to relax a bit, but the contx just kept comming stronger and stronger and I could feel the pressure more and more with each one.  I started praying because the pain was just unbearable and I was just there by myself.  Then I felt something pop and felt the baby's head coming out.  I just kept saying "Oh no, oh no, oh no, just stay in there baby!"   With one hand holding the head and the other the cell phone, I hit redial and the first words to the midwife were "The head is out!!!"  My MW was like "oh no, just stay on the phone with me, don't hang up.  Is the head out?"  I tell her to hold on one second, put the phone down (I had it on speaker) and with the next contx the baby was fully out.  I pick her up from under the water and hold her face down.  "She's out!" I yell back to the phone.  "OK, is she breathing?" asked my MW.  "I don't know, she's kind of blue".  "That's OK, just check to see if she's breathing" she answers back.  I put the baby on her back and look at her face, but I couldn't tell, she just kind of lay  there, so I turn her back to face down and then face up again, and she just let out one cry.  Then she just kind of lay  there and looked at me.  It was just a magical moment!  I just couldn't believe at how peaceful and alert she was.  "I can hear her, just keep her warm" my MW tells me.  I kept her under the water (except the head of course  Roll Eyes) and just started to kind of wash her.  My midwife kept asking me questions like if I'm loosing a lot of blood and how the baby is doing.  I didn't know how much blood is too much so she asked me if I could get out of the tub and on to the bed.  I just couldn't move at all so I told her I'll call my DH to see how far away he is and call her back.
I called my DH and he said he's almost home.  I tell him I already delivered so he needs to hurry.  He just said "WHAT?" and kind of lost the rest of sentence.  I just said "Hurry!" and hung up.
He arrived in a min or two, walked in the bathroom and with such a funny expression on his face says "I don't believe this!".  There I was, sitting in a pool of bloody water, holding the little baby in my arms with the placenta still in side of me.  Shocked  His next queston was "Is it a girl?"  I don't answer, just pick up the baby and show him.  "Yep!" I then said with a smile.  Grin  You see, he always told me  through out the whole pregnancy it still could be a boy even though I kept telling him it's a girl.  I guess he just kind of kept wishing.  Wink
So he helps me out of the tub and on to the bed to wait for the MW.  He covers both of us with towels, and we just lay  there.  He just kept looking at the baby and saying how beautiful she is.  Through out this whole time, she didn't even cry once.  When the MW arrived she tied the cord, my DH cut it and then she started to take care of the baby, getting her dry, weighing her, etc.  That's when she first started to cry.
Then it was my turn to deliver the placenta and get 4 stitches. Undecided  Ouch!
She said I would have torn even more if I wasn't holding the baby's head.

So everything  was just great!  The baby was born without any complications and is doing well, and I was just fine too.  I just keep thanking God for giving me strength and courage to do this all by myself!!!  God is good!  Smiley

Now we have another beautiful daughter!  Ekaterina Alexandra. (Katie for short).  She was born on March 21st at 7:53 am.  (During the most strange snow blizzard, because we don't usually have snow by the end of March.  But it sure was beautiful looking out the window at the falling snow while holding my just-born baby.  Smiley )

She was 8lbs 14 oz and 20 3/4 in long.  My biggest baby yet!

This was the most wonderful and biggest experience of my life!!!  Grin
I would definitely have a home birth again!

I thought I'd jump in here and ad my birth story. No I'm totally not making this up either. There are SO SO SO many miricals to my sons birth I can't even list them all, but here's the most of his story...

I had two miscarriages after we had our daughters and it took my hubby and I awhile to want to try again. But in 2004 we decided it was time. At first nothing happend but finally I was pregnant. My due date was Christmas 2005. I though, well no one has their baby on their due date, so I'm safe with that one. Anyway, a week after I found out I was pregnant I stared to bleed. I knew I was going to have another miscarraige. I was too early for anyone to see anything through ultrasound and my HCG levels were continuing to increase so my doctor told me not to worry. I was SO sick. The only time I was ever sick before was when I was preg. w/ the two I miscarried. So I was still concerned. At ten wks I started bleeding and cramping again. This time it was pretty bad and I had no more hope. I went to the leaders in the church before going to the hospital and they prayed for me. One of my dear friends asked God to hold my baby in His hands and sustain him, and in my heart I said she was wasting her time praying for a baby that's not even there. When I went in to the ER the Dr. told me I was dialated and sent me to have an ultrasound. The tech told me that the baby was moving and had a strong heart beat. My heart sank and I repented and ask God to forgive me for having doubt and to protect my baby. He did. By time I got back to see the dr. I was no longer bleeding. The rest of the pregnancy went well...

Fast forward to early Christmas morning 2005. YES right on my due date. I woke up at 4:45 am with one HUGE contraction, I walk into the bathroom and my water broke. My MIL came right over and my hubby and I left for the hospital. By time we got half way down our road I knew I was not going to make it to the hospital. I wasn't about to tell hubby that, though. He doesn't do well with this sort of thing and I'm a knowledge nut, especially when it comes to stuff like this, so I wasn't scared. Once I knew the head was coming out I told him to pull over and help me get my pants off. And he said, "WHAT! ARE YOU PUSHING! WHY ARE YOU PUSHING, STOP PUSHING!" I explained to him that I was no pushing, the baby was just coming. Then I had him get me a sweatshirt out of my bag to wrap the baby in. Here's the other thing, our baby was supposed to be a girl. So when I was pulling him up out of me I said, "it's ok little girl.....IT"S A BOY!" My whole pregnancy my husband told me that it was going to be a boy and said he was going to laugh when I had the baby and it turns out to be a boy. Well he wasn't laughing. He was still in shock. When we got to the hospital, hubby almost ran right through the er doors. They were pretty shocked when I got there and found out I delived my own baby. I wouldn't have had it any other way. It says on his birthcertificat that he was born in an automobile by Dr. mom Smiley  I am SO blessed. Oh, just so you know, my

that was my little blessing hitting the post button before I was done! Smiley

I just wanted to finish by saying that my whole labor lasted 30 mins. from the time I woke up with that contraction to delivering him in the car. There was no little build up to that labor. It was BAM! and DONE!
We also didnt have a boys name picked out either. It was going to be Kaiden Mae but we ended up calling him Kaiden Marshall.

I am impressed larissakissa. I thought I was doing pretty good when we had baby number 3 an unplanned unassisted in the tub - but at least hubby was there. And then I thought #4 was really a superwoman birth - only 1 1/2 hrs. of labor  but I see someone else had a 1/2 hr. labor. Not sure about that - it is nice to at least have enough time to wake up!  Not that it even matters but it is so much fun to hear birth stories.

Well, my birthing story is not as dramatic as some, but it's one I'll never forget.

On Monday around 4 pm, I went to see my in-hospital midwife. She gave me her cell number and call her when I went into labor. I wasn't contracting and told her that I had an appointment for that Friday. I was only 38 weeks.

Tuesday morning at 2 am, I woke up having mild contractions. at six, my DH got up to go to work. He said call him if I thought we needed to go to the hospital. At 8 am, I called my mother in law and told her I was in labor. At 12:30pm, my grandparents, who live 2 minutes up the road, took me to the hospital. Around 2 pm, my dad came up from his Prosthetic shop down the street from the hospital. When I called my DH, I had to hand my dad the phone because I had such a bad contx I couldn't talk. That was at 10 min apart. Dr. Quack came in, checked me, and said I could go home until I was really in labor. They discharged me at 4. From the 6th floor to the patient discharge doors, they jumped from 9 min to 7 min apart. By the way, I have GBS. From the hospital to Taco Bell (about 20 min) it went to 6 min. At 10 pm, they were 5 min. At 12:30 am, they were 4 1/2 min apart. At 1 am, we called the hospital. My midwife was paged and she said come in. When we left my mother in laws (her house is closer than ours). they were 31/2 min apart, lasting 62 sec. They wouldn't check me until about half an hour after walking into er. I was barely dialated to 9. They said I was almost at 10. We waited 5 hours for them to break my water so I could get both rounds of antibiotics in. After being up for so long, I had a hard time pushing. after 43 min of pushing and 29 hours labor, Madeline Grace, my first child, was born Wed., June 27, 2007 at 7:43 am.

I'm definitely switching hospitals next time. But I thank the Lord he got me through it naturally, minus one round of Stadol to help me sleep while the antibiotics went in my system.
