This is the high tech version... but basically the same concept taken from the following (large but great info) pdf file:

The OP Fetus: How Little We Know

...from this very interesting site: http://www.pennysimkin.com/

Wow! So is it a little comfortable at least. LOL  My kids never dropped ahead of time. And helped to result in a Csection.  And it was work to get my Vbac baby down.  I think thi may be the help I need. Now to find a house with a good easy to hook into rafter.... Cheesy

Birth story for dd #4.

I woke up with contractions on Friday at midnight. I was already dilated to 5 cm. I contracted all day with lots of bloody show. The contractions were light and I only had 2-4 every hour. Things died down and I was able to fall asleep around 10 pm Saturday night. I was dilated to 6 cm at that time.

I woke up at 1 am on Sunday having strong contractions. We got up and set everything up for the birth. The contractions were strong but not very frequent. They were coming every 10-15 min. A couple times they seemed to quit. We would go back to bed and they would start back up. Laying down seemed to help start things moving again. Things really picked up at about 5 am. I started having transition contractions. I was dilated fully but my cervix stayed facing back. I knew the baby was posterior and had been laboring on hands and knees hoping it would turn. I had never had trouble with my cervix not moving forward before and wasn't sure what to do. We gave it some time but nothing seemed to be changing. I was finally able to move my cervix forward by squatting and pushing while tilting my pelvis forward and pulling the cervix forward at the same time.

I was very relieved to get my cervix lined up but I couldn't seem to budge baby past my pubic bone. She was wedged in really tight. She was still facing up and didn't seem to have her chin tucked. The contractions continued  without stopping in between. I rather lost it at that point and started passing out. My husband was able to keep me from passing out by keeping cold rags on my neck. He was so amazingly strong and supporting. He kept encouraging me and praying. I tried pushing in every position and finally felt the baby break free move down and at the same time heard my pubic bone make a cracking sound.  She moved down pretty well after that. I tried to deliver her head slowly through about 4 contractions. It seemed like the never ending ring of fire. I thought I was tearing really bad but only ended up with a little tear. She cried as soon as her head was out and I was pushing so hard at that point the rest of her just flew out. She was born at 7:30 am.

I was shaking and couldn't hold the baby. I started bleeding pretty bad. I took cayenne and hemhalt. That seemed to help a little. The placenta separated right away but my cervix had closed and I couldn't get it out. I pushed for almost two hours and finally got it out. It was a really thick placenta! We are guessing I lost about two cups of blood. My husband had decided to take me to the hospital and I think that gave me the strength to get the placenta out since I really didn't want to go.

After finally delivering the placenta everything was fine. The bleeding stopped immediately and baby nursed like a champ. I usually bounce back  quickly after a birth but I'm pretty tired and bruised feeling this time. Hubby is taking care of everything for me so I'm getting lots of rest.

Baby weighed 7 lb 2 oz and is 19 inches long. We think she 's beautiful and are enjoying that new baby smell!

Yeah for the baby Ella! I am sooo glad you didn't have to go to the hospital! Sounds like it got kind of scarey, but everything worked out ok. Glad you are getting some rest!

This thread is an abundance of great birth stories, but they are many and they are long.   Grin

As such, it can really put a strain on my daily workload, but rather than shut it down, until I find a better solution, on a test run, I am making this thread--member moderated.

So you post-partum ladies get to keep each other in line.  If something gets unruly or out of hand, I'm only a click and  PM away and can merge, delete, redirect and moderate as needed.  If everything continues to sail smoothly, then I'll be out of it entirely, unless some juicy piece of info just happens to catch my eye on the front board  Cheesy

I am also adding the Preggo Chat thread to this member moderation test.

If tests prove that this was a bad idea on my part, then steps will be taken to regain control of the unruly members who ran it off the track.   Shocked Grin Roll Eyes

Oh golly.  That sash thingy looks like it would have felt really good!  Very interesting, thanks for the links, too.

I sure wish I'd had an adjustment before this birth, but you can bet that if we are blessed with another one, I'll be better prepared.

Hey, thanks for posting your birth stories, ladies! It's funny how much more interesting they are the closer I get to D-Day!  Cheesy

Gigi, wow what a labor!

I agree with Nexis on the adjustment thing. I had a hard time with my first one because of needing my pelvis adjusted. When he finally was able to engage and be born it was because of the "Navajo Sash."

Here on the Rez, the Navajo women wear traditional loom-woven sashes that serve as very wide and sturdy wrap-around belts. When it comes time for birth, (the traditional way) the sash is hung over a rafter of the hogan (house) and the loose ends are tied. The woman then loops the sash under and behind her shoulders, grabs the sash above her head with both hands, and "hangs" from it in a squatting position. This hanging position allows the whole body below the shoulders to relax and open up, while gravity does it's work.

I pushed in every position I could think of with my first baby; birthing stool, hands and knees, sitting on the bed, squatting... I could not push him down. After pushing for 7 hours, I finally hung from "the sash" and wow, he engage and came out within just a few minutes, even though by that time I was swollen inside and weak.

I haven't needed to use the sash since then, but if I ever had a baby that wouldn't engage, that's one of the first things I would try.

My baby is here!!!! Her name is Sumyr Hope..........  The hope of summer...   Smiley  we adore her!!  She was born at home at 10;50 am, she weighs 6 lbs and 13 oz and is 19 inches long. Smiley   I went into labor at 8;10 , very gentle contractions, I was dilated to 3. I lay in the bathtub and poured water over my belly (we have a small tight tub)  talking and laughing with my husband and sisterinlaw that also attended the birth, they came every minute, but they didnt hurt very much at all, at 10;30 they all of a sudden got incredibly hard, I did my breathing, closed my eyes and just relaxed thru every one, but at every peak i would come very close to panicking, now they were less than 30 seconds apart, hubby helped me out of the tub and into a clean shirt of his, (I found that very comforting) Smiley and onto a rocking chair right outside the bathroom door, we did this all between contractions, I had 2 or 3 contractions on the rocking chair, and suddenly just felt like it was time to get the midwife, (she was sleeping in my sons room)  sis inlaw quick went and got her, and hubby helped me to the bed, she checked me and said I am dilated to about 8 and not quite there yet, but the next contraction I had to push, she had nothing ready yet and told me to just do very small pushes, I managed to hold back for about 3 contractions and then told my husband to grab my leg and pull it way back, I had read in the bradly book it gives you an extra centimeter and a half and as soon as we did I felt her kinda plop down, It was weird, and then the next contraction I had to push and really bear down, she crowned and one more mighty push and her whole body came shooting out,  after only 20 minutes of pain and 2 pushes!! my water never broke:)   I must have been ready after all because she didnt wait!  I experianced no ring of fire, and no pain at all when she came out! it was amazing!  I must have gone completly numb,  I have one small tear as she came out with her little hand up over her head, plus I lost quite a bit of blood, but am steadily drinking chlyoriphil and am feeling much stronger!    We just praise God for his mercy and love thru this experiance. and we thank him for our beautiful daughter!!!   her big brother adores her with a passion and seems to be handling it very well not being an only child anymore..   I had taken no herbs except for mamas red raspberry brew, I didnt dare because I was already dilated to 3 at 35 weeks.

Congratulations Helen and any others here recently.  Many blessings to each family I pray, and may there be many plump, healthy newborns!!

I'm here to announce the arrival of #10 on Wednesday, May 21.

We decided to induce last Wednesday because my blood pressure was creeping up, I had dilated to 4 by then with 75 percent effacement, and really, because I fell at my OB's feet, kissed them, and implored wholeheartedly that Please can we do this!!  Grin

So, Wednesday at 6 AM we went in, epidural was in place by 9:30ish, and then my OB broke the waters.  Our buddy was delivered by 2:44 PM with about 4 pushes.  It hurt, but I was very thankful that I didn't feel the contrax on the abdominal line.  The only issue was my blood pressure--when the epi was put in and my body relaxed, my blood pressure went to like 74/50 or something.  Never been that low and I started to hyperventilate and get really dizzy.  Tis normal evidently and they had me to rights very quickly.

Now, the surprising part and real reason I am glad I did the epi:

He weighed 11 pounds 1 ounce   Shocked  and is 22.25 inches long.

I've never even delivered a 10 pounder much less 11.  When I delivered the head the OB started laughing--he knew what was coming.  I dunno, I don't think he looks all that big--but everyone assures me that he's huge, especially compared to 8 pound babies in the nursery I guess.

So, I praise the Lord for no pitocin, no antibiotics, and a healthy baby boy.  I also praise the Lord because being so big, Robert Edward had low blood sugar which is evidently common.  We did have to feed him some formula about 4 times after breastfeeding, and the numbers went up up up.

Just a couple of days ago the thought occured to me what an exquisite work of art this baby is, we all are.  It is marvelous to me that our Creator is The Artist.

I worship Him,
Cara

Cara,

Congrats on your HUGE baby boy!!!  Wink I would say how did you grow him that big, but my last one was 10lbs 2oz.  I hope you have any easy recovery and that all are doing well. Did I read correctly that this is # 10 for you? I'm not made out of the same kind of stuff that you are, obviously.  Shocked Cheesy
