Two and half year old and molars?
« on: September 02, 2007, 09:09:17 PM » by MamaJ
My daughter is two and a half years old, and she's showing some minor signs of teething.  She never was one who wailed and got fevered and all that while she was teething, she mostly got whiny and headachy.  She's showing symptoms of that again.  I thought she already got her two year molars in, so I don't know if she's getting more in, or if I misinterpreted her molars being there.  Ok, that sounds really dumb of me, but she's my first!!!!  Can someone give me an idea of what's going on here?  Am I totally off my rocker? Grin

I went through this, too.  Smiley  What we finally figured out was that the BACK of the molar was still cutting through.  My little one was just on a teething hiatus.  I thought she was so advanced, cutting her 6 year molars at the age of 2 1/2,  LOL.  Cheesy

My 2 1/2 yo dd is almost always chewing on something!  I don't think she is cutting teeth, but I guess I could check to see.  Can there be something else that causes her to "need" to be chewing on things, or do you think it is most likely a bad habit?  She actually has stuff in her mouth more than my 11-mo.  Also, she had started the habit of biting her nails.  Any suggestions for something to put on her fingers that is safe and tastes nasty?

Thanks!

My ds is going through this right now. He has had low grade fever, yucky feeling, and chew, chew, chew. So the other day I asked to look in his mouth and I found a new tooth in the back and another one trying to come in on the other side. He's been pretty tired and grumpy lately, I'll be glad when he gets to feeling better.  Sad

My 2 1/2 yr old daughter is exhibiting a lot of teething signs, too (runny nose, fever, red cheek), and I looked in her mouth to check.  There was definitely a raised part of her back gum on the side where her face is red.  The weird thing is, though, I also saw what looked like cuts or spots of blood on the inside of her cheek.  Has anyone ever heard of (or seen) actual sores in the mouth while a toddler is cutting molars?

If it was in my house, I would suspect that she may be gnawing on the inside of her cheek - just like infants chew on hands or toys while teething.  Could that be a possibility?

Hi Everybody,

Tell me what you think. My 2 1/2 year old awoke last night and threw up just a little. She told me her mouth hurt, she woudl not let me feel or look. She was fine this morning, but after lunch she got sick again. She also has a red bottom and front, no bumps just solid red after a bm yesterday. Do ya'll think teething?

Thank you,
Heather
