Link between birth control pills and breast cancer

I am finding both pro and con. I am personally highly suspicious, having now watched a 4th friend in her 30s get breast cancer, after a history of b.c. pills and infertility.

Does anyone have a reliable source of information on the link, or lack of a link?

at the very bottom of the very first post in this last link, there are several links to sites which give reference and documentation for this thread.

I totally believe after all the research I've done, that BC pills potentially lead to autoimmunity through leaky gut and estrogen dominance which has a whole other potential for problems.

Putting the ethics of BC aside, my opinion regarding BC pills and a woman's phycial health is that some people are more susceptible to cancer than others based on diet, inactivity, yeast, toxins, geography, and a host of other factors. I believe 100% that the rise in breast cancer is directly related to underwire bras (a lack of movement in the lymph), ab0rtion being legalized (there are numerous studies that say women who have had an abortion are at higher risk for all 3 major types of women's cancers, and the more abortions you've had the more your chances increase), hormones in meat and dairy (soy and estrogen dominance), beauty products/ deoderant, and birth control pills.

As soon as I did research on BC pills I stopped taking them. I do believe that my docs honestly believe they are doing the world a favor by helping control the population, and some docs may also honestly believe that regulating hormones and supressing ovulation helps prevent cancers, but the method is harmful. Supressed ovulation because of lactation and pregnancy may in fact be helpful, but tricking the body with synthetic hormones is not equivalent. Just my $.02.

for some great studies, check out www.bcpinstitute.org. This is the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute. Joel Brind and Angela Lanfranchi are two of the top researchers on this - and their website has great information. They also do a pretty good job of explaining the biology of a woman's body and therefore what added hormones, abortion, miscarriage, and late pregnancy can do. It's somewhat hard to find good studies because of the politicizing of the issue - and because the pill is considered the default position for any woman who a) is sexually active b) has bad cramps or c) has acne. I think the link between breast cancer and the pill is much better substatiated even than the link between the pill and abortion, or abortion causing breast cancer. Another website to check would be the Elliot Institute at www.afterabortion.org. They are a bit more partisan, being a very pro-life organization, but David Reardon is a great researcher on these topics, and there is some info on there related to this topic.

The book is The Germ That Causes Cancer by Doug A. Kaufmann. There are 2 versions of the book (same name) printed- the full version of the book (over 200 pages) that actually makes the case & has GREAT info & a short version (48 pages) that is the version currently in print which isn't worth bothering with IMO. The full version is the one you want to read. It is out of print but can be gotten through the WorldCat interlibrary loan system. WorldCat is the world wide interlibrary loan system that can get you a book outside of the state you live in.

BTW- I agree with HB. Birth control pill lead to leaky gut & yeast/fungus. Then yeast/fungus becomes cancer. Also like Shabby Chic said, underwires & tight bras keep the lymph glands in the area from being able to do the job God intended them to which further complicates the problem.

My mother passed away from br*st cancer last month. She wore underwires & corsets part of the time & had fungus issues of various types for 30+ years. I fully believed that cancer is frequently fungus BEFORE she passed & the science is there to back it up but the clincher for me was her lump. Not to get too graphic but it had went through the skin & part of it was green & black & the exact colors of mold. HTH Blessings ~herbalmom
