OK, Ladies, I need some help here. I am on a sewing kick for Christmas, and I really, really need to find a pattern for Head Socks. These are large, um, socks that go over your head and neck, down to your shoulders and have an option to cover part of the face, too. They are so warm and cozy, but I could not manage to find a pattern online anywhere.

Just wondering if any of you has a pattern that resembles this:
http://www.redbow.com/store/st_viewcategory.php?cat=HK

If you do, can you please let me know where I could get a similar pattern? I have a BUNCH to sew! Thanks  Smiley

if you find a pattern are you going to sell us some???   Grin

Those are similar to balaclavas. I found a pattern you may be able to use here:  http://feralityillust.livejournal.com/3057.html

Had to laugh over this round up of ski masks:
http://www.threadbanger.com/post/10566/weekly-diy-roundup-ski-masks

I think the pattern link above from LKS would do it...just make one of the solid pattern pieces for the back, and then make the front with two pieces that overlap a bit on the side seams so that you can adjust them like your photo shows.

Hey--that's really close! I may try a prototype and see how it goes.

Dh bought a Gaitor that had instructions for wearing it a ton of different ways. It can do what the head sock does, and it's just a long tube made of stretchy material.

You can pull it down around your neck.
You can pull it up to under, or over, your nose and over your ears.
You can pull the back up over your head and the front down under your chin.
You can wear it kinda like a ski mask, if after putting it in the last position, you then fold the end in the front (the part that's at the bottom of your neck) up over your face to right under your eyes.
And lastly, you can wear it as a hat by pulling one end onto your head (enough to cuff it so it looks cool Wink ) and letting the other end hang down in back (or I suppose you could tie it in a knot).

So you may be able to do those. They would be a lot easier, anyway.

Thanks, girls. You've given me a bunch of great ideas, and I think I'm just gonna wing it and see what I come up with.

I really liked the Gaitor idea, so I googled it and came up with this:
http://www.uberpest.com/gaiter.html

Made one today, and it was big even on me. These are supposed to be for my kids, so I am going to try a smaller one. Best of all, they are Easy-Squeezy Lemon-Peezy!!! Grin Grin

I also made a cute fleece hat that matches. Maybe I can post a pic somehow....

Hey, I'm looking for a crochet pattern for a child's hood right now. I want a hood with longer scarf-like ties... For a petite 18 mo. old girl. Anyone have a pattern to share?
