Hi everyone! I'm Andrea. I am 21 and I love Gabriel Pearl. I live in Arizona, was born there, but have moved a lot because my Dad was in the air force. I'm interested in nutrition, but I admit I don't know very much about it, so I'm basically all about what you all have to say. My passions are God, communication, the Bible, and sharing Jesus with people. Hmm that is almost just one thing...interesting. I love riding horses bareback, camping and any outdoor thing you could come up with. I'm learning to get excited about every small thing, again, as if for the first time because God is just wonderful to show me!!! How cool is that?!?

Very cool!
Hi Andrea! I have to admit I'm curious: who's Gabriel Pearl? Not my brother??? It's an unusual name, you know!

I love riding horses too!

Hello Sharon and Pam!
Thanks for joining! This site is SO CHOCKED FULL of information it's incredible. I love it. My favorite subjects so far have been "Kombucha", "Kefir and Yogurt", "Sour Dough Bread", Homemade Laundry Soap", and a bunch of the hair and skin care threads, and the "The Water Cure."

Look around... thanks for the compliment on the article... I learned a lot of it here!

Hello Ladies,

I'm new here too and this site has been such a blessing to me!  I'm 23 and very happily married to my hubby, Justin.  We have a son, Samuel, who will be a year old next month.  We both like to garden and eat our homegrown produce.  Thankfully Justin helps, or I'd just have a weed patch!  Grin  Healthy living has been an interest to me since I was a teenager.  I was homeschooled, grew up on a farm and had a healthy lifestyle...always room for improvement, though.  Herbs and alternative medicine are very intriguing to me.  Thank you to all you who have posted your research and personal testimonies.  My husband and I and my parents are NGJ subscribers and we have been SO blessed w/ the materials and articles available.  I just tried the yogurt recipie yesterday and it worked!! (Anyone have a recipie for saurkraut??)  I was so excited. Cheesy  And, just a little extra info...our family enjoys listening to and making music...mainly classical and hymns.  Anyone interested can visit our website:  www.miller-quartet.com  This is just a bit about myself and my family.  Nice to meet all of you!

Hi,
I'm Becky and I am new to this site. I am the wife to an awesome husband (Keith) and 5 blessings.
Our children are Brittini - 16, Kyle - 12, Zachary - 9, Hannah - 5 and our heavenly baby.
We are a homeschooling family in Florida and love every minute of it. We work at being a healthy
family most of the time. I have a lot to learn though and am really enjoying this website. There is
so much good info. I am getting into herbs and as much natural as our budget allows. We also
love the pearl's and there encouraging products.
We love the Lord and He has been such a strength in our 17 wonderful years of wedded bliss.
Its hard to believe that its been that long already.

My name is Rena. Married to Mr Steady Dan forever and have four sons (10 yrs to 2 yrs). We live in Wisconsin. Why is it 100 degrees way up here??? In his spare time, Dan managed to build us a house recently with the boys and we are setting up our homestead. We have do-it-yourself-itis. Try to raise as much of our food as we can. Just learned how to butcher fowl. Never enough hours to explore all the things that interest us.

My M-I-L is about to move in with us. She is 67 and on dialysis. She isn't expected to live long. It all boils down to how she chose to live. It is so convicting to live through this with her. I have NO experience with care taking a dying person, but it was my idea to have her come live with us and would appreciate prayer.

I can say there is no way we would have our younger two sons if someone had not given me To Train Up a Child. My 2nd son hit 16 months and I did not know what hit me. WOW, was he ever a toddler. It was so thrilling to read that book and realize I could actually be in control of the situation. He is a fine 8 year old now.

I appreciate this site.

Hi!
I am Leslie. I'm an almost 35 y/o mom of 4. My husband is in the military and we have two years left in the North Bay of San Francisco. We're both from TX. I first started researching nutrition to find natural remedies for my 7 y/o son's behavior. I found that I felt better as well. My hobbies include nutrition research(like most of you), cross stitch(not much time for that anymore Cheesy) and reading. I am a fledgling cook, but desire to learn. My latest "project" is trying to figure out how to get cheap raw milk. It is $8/half gallon in the store here. I can have the dairy deliver it for $10/whole gallon with a minimum $300/week order. Shocked. Most of my friends think I'm a lunatic. Grin Nice to meet ya'll. Leslie

Hello Ladies!

I am also new to this site(I signed up recently but have been reading articles for a while) I heard about it from a dear friend. We both enjoy reading the NGJ products and have shared them friends.

I am 21 y/o single and into healthy living for a variaty of reasons. I and my friend share thoughts and ideas on healthy living but I have learned so much from the various threads! It seemed like there were not many people our age who want to live healthy. I thought at times there was no place that women could talk openly and learn so much and still glorify God! It is rare to find such a thing.

I was homeschooled from 1st-11th grade and would love to homeschool my children. My friend is expecting her first child anyday now and I am on the journey with her in parenting! No time like the present to read about training up a child!  I am the oldest of 7 and was a nann :)y for 5 children. So at my young age I feel blessed to be involved in parenting already!!! Although, I know it will not happen biologically for me in a while!!!:)  I am also from Wisconsin(Northern) and it is warm up here!!!! I have to keep reminding myself that in a few months we will be freezing and shoveling snow! Grin

I am currently working fulltime and going to school at the local tech to be a counselor. I have a great network of Bible study friends. I am enjoying this time in my life.

I was rushed into surgery for cancer 3 years ago. Turned out it wasn't but went through a year of preventative care and many expensive tests and prescriptions to get my hormones smoothed out. That is when I realized that the chemicals were not helping but they were hindering my health. I had struggled with bad stomach problems since I was 15 but did not start "connecting dots" on how my body is so intricately designed (Thank you God!). I am working on learning more and figuring out what I can do to heal my body and continue to live better. I have many questions(all for another night) about what I can do be haelthier(will need to look at the threads first)

Well, this is becoming a long post have a great night!

Hello Julie,

Glad you enjoyed the site!  My parents had us start more for the discipline of music lessons, and it turns out that we love it!  Yes there were times when we all wanted to quit, but they didn't allow us to.  Music lessons are great for children...it's kinda like learning a foreign language...a whole new world of creativity and learning.  We didn't start till we were btwn the ages of 5 and 7, and began w/ piano lessons, and 5 years later learned violin/viola/cello.  Piano is your basic all around best starter instrument---in my opinion. Well I’ve posted a few times already so I suppose I should introduce myself.

My real name is Heather and I live in northwestern Wisconsin. I hail from ooooold ATIA and “Charity” circles, if you’d like to know my background. Smiley  I am 35 years old, and have been married to a wonderful computer programmer named Alan since 1995. We have two sons: Peter, born 12-00, and Isaac, born 3-07. We live on three acres in a restored farmhouse.

My hormonal issues fueled my interest in health and nutrition. The popular ideas of healthy eating never rang with me or seemed to fit with Biblical perspective. A friend introduced me to Nourishing Traditions some time back, and I loved it. It made sense, and history backed it up! After starting to eat more good fats and whole foods, my weight and health improved markedly. The only problem is, I dislike cooking and working in the kitchen, which doesn’t mesh well with the NT lifestyle! So I am always on the lookout for quick, easy recipes and tips. I like making kefir, cuz it’s easy, and I love my BREAD MACHINE.

We had long been familiar with NGJ training materials, but not their Bible teaching. In 2002 a friend loaned us a Certain Set of Tapes on the book of Romans. Our little religious world was turned upside down! “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.” What sweet rest there is in His finished work.

I learned about this site from my good friend Dara. A whole bunch of people who eat traditionally? Who’da thought? I have used the Internet for years, but this is the first forum I’ve joined.

::)Hello, everyone!  I just learned of this site from the NGJ magazine, which we love!

I'm Heather, homeschooling mom to 4 little ones...dd7, ds4, ds2, dd6mo--and greatly indebted to the Pearl's child training materials for making it a joy to raise these incredible blessings for the Lord!.  I'm from Kentucky, but we're currently in Oklahoma--just a year ago my husband (a command man!), at the age of 34 took a giant leap of faith and closed our family's chiropractic practice to enter the military as an officer!  I'm so proud of him, and 100% behind him!...Serving his country is something that has been on his heart since he was a child!

I'm so glad to find this site--I grew up in a family who ate natural foods when it wasn't so popular to do so!  But, it has only been in the past few years that I have really been embraced this for myself, and have wanted to learn more!  In the past few months, I've we've been encorporating raw milk/yogurt, and clean meats into our diet, as our budget allows!  I've been reading Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, and have started experimenting with soaking our grains.   I am trying to feed my family wholesome foods, with my husband's blessing, but at the same time, try very hard to satisfy my junk food loving husband!!...it is at times a real challenge!

I am looking forward to learning and sharing along with you all!

Heather

Hi I'm new here (OnlyJesusSaves), I think its great to be able to talk with so many people and learn from their ideas, and infromation.  I have been married for 9 year now, and have two boys one almost 4 and one almost 1.  I am almost 28.  I enjoy learning new things, and would like to be a help to anyone I can.  I plan on homeschool, and have done some things with my oldest son.  Mainly play learning board games, counting stair and money, going over colors in the begining of book covers,  shapes, name ect.  My little brother also lives with us, but we don't ever see him on the weekend.  We go to a great church, where we learn the bible (KJV).  Nice to meet you all. Hi there,
This is my first visit to this site...which I caught while reading my recent NGJ magazine.  I have always treasured the Pearl's wisdom and I am thankful for their vision to feed the families of the world with truth.  As I read through the posts I see that I am the "older woman" ...being 51, though I don't feel much different than when all of my children were growing up..as I read your letters it seems only yesterday that it was me with all the questions?? And still they are there, but I am not quite so anxious about them any more, as I have seen our Good LORD lead me all the way.  My youngest of seven is now 8 years old. Many, many people adviced me to enjoy my children when they were young because the time goes so quickly, and truly it does. I think even more so when you are mom to many, homeschooling and serving...you can blink and your children will be grown.  I am so thankful to be a wife and a mother, and more than that to be a believer in Jesus Christ.  He is my way, my truth and my life.  I feel like I could go on and on... God is good and so I thank HIM...Have a Blessed Evening

Hi everyone!  I joined the forum about a week and a half ago, and I'm addicted already!  I live in the cheese state(Wisconsin).  I got married 6 years ago this August.  We have two beautiful girls ages 3 and 1.  We lost our first baby when I was 11 weeks pregnant.  It was very devistating.  We named our baby Hope, so we would remember to be hopeful of another baby, and one year and two months later I got pregnant with our first born!  I love learning about health.  It is very interesting to me, so I am glad I'm here!  Thanks everyone!

Uh, I've been on here for some time now, and I guess I thought I had introduced myself, but today looked back, and no I haven't.  It's that thinking thing that does me in every time! Kiss

I am Dawn, wife of Ralf, mother of 5 boys and 2 girls.  We live in New Hampshire, the state chosen by the Free State Project as the "freest state" in the USA right now.  Meaning, according to their guidelines, we retain the most personal liberties. I love living in NH where you  can have a heated political conversation with a neighbor of different persausion one minute, and turn around and talk about your garden the next.  I have friends in other states who say you don't talk politics with anyone who doesn't agree with you, and you are likely not to be friends or talk about anything else with them either!  My husband is not a US citizen (German) and so it is fun to consult and decide with him who "our" vote will be cast for each election.  We love the town meeting process in NH that gives everyone a chance to have their say about how our tax money is spent.   And if it were up to us, there would be a lot less spending going on!! Cool Cool

We live on 100 acres of woods and our kids have lots of time to spend out in it.  I recently was taken on a walk along a wonderful trail they had built, and I had no idea it was going on.  Glad to know they were spending their time wisely, and glad to be given a wake up call that I need to pay more attention to what they are doing!

I love this site and have learned a lot, THANKS TO ALL!

Hi, I am Nickole and I REALLY have got to go to bed!   Grin  Ha ha, no I am not an exhausted mother/wife - I just never frequent blogs, and I just registered here and am addicted.  WAY too much GREAT information.  But it is LATE.  Embarrassed  This is something I have been looking for.  I found out about this from NGJ.  I am a 33 year old wife of the most wonderful man in the world, a 100% Mr. Steady according to Created to Be His Helpmeet (and boy did that change my perspective, for the better!).  I am also mother of three, ages 7, 5, and 11.5 months!  Pearl-trained since birth, ha ha!  Seriously, we were introduced to the Pearl's ministry from the beginning of our parenting journey and are so thankful.  Anyway, I am very much into health issues - studying constantly, and I am glad to learn more on this site.  My job is in the home, and we also are dedicated to homeschooling, more of an unschooling/Charlotte Mason philosphy which is so non-stress and fun.  We learn all throughout the day - the kids are constantly questioning things (except us, heh heh) - they are so smart just from self-learning and discovery!  We have a very pleasant home, fun, and joyful.  I just feel like the most blessed mother and wife on the planet.  I really do.  I thank my Father in heaven for that.  We live in North Carolina in the country surrounded by woods filled with tons of wildlife.  Inch by inch (and dollar by dollar) we are moving toward being more self-sufficient, like growing our own food, etc.  Saves money and is so rewarding.  We use the Nourishing Traditions cookbook a lot.  Now if we could get rid of that pesky mortgage.  Roll Eyes  I got saved at 21, just in time to meet my also newly-saved husband-to-be.  We were SO made for each other.  Gosh, I would just love to get together with all of you!  I am assuming I am not the only one who feels like there is not really anyone NEAR me who QUITE thinks the same way about things like I do...  But I get along with everyone, love to have fun, laugh, joke.  We joke all the time.  It's especially fun to make up a really elaborate answer to something the kids ask about, like how something works, really outrageous.  Try it.  Soon they'll know the drill and as you go on and on and on (my husband pipes in too) and the twinkle in their eyes and "Mama...." is just heartwarming.  Keeps them loving "home".  Only thing is, when I'm really explaining something they start out thinking I'm joking!
Anyway, when in the world do you girls have time to sit and read posts, respond, etc?  There are many I have heard of that seem interesting, but I am a project person, high-energy, and constantly have a pile of books I want to read and list of subjects I want to research.  I'm a research junkie I guess - my last project being reading every book on bird-watching at the library and typing notes from them.  I can't read one or I might miss something.  Have to read them all.  I think there's a disorder for that.
Well, I look forward to meeting all of you!
God bless you!

Hi all! I'm here to introduce myself. My name is Amey, and I'm from Ohio. I'm 34, and will celebrate my 10th anniversary with my husband (duh) this coming October. Our children are 7, 5, and 3 (2 boys, 1 girl). I've been lurking for the past week or so, and I can tell you, I definitely fit in here. Christian, homeschool, Nourishing Traditions, etc. The whole bit.

I enjoy being here because everyone seems to have a great sense of humor about things, even though the topics being discussed are quite serious for the most part.

I read Created to be His Helpmeet last summer, and I consider it to be a landmark type of book for us ladies. I also ordered Supermom for the first time this week, and am looking forward to trying those vitamins. I make kefir, milk a goat every day, and have a great sourdough starter.

It's nice to meet you all...

Hello!!!  My name is Jessica, and I live in midwest MS.  I am a happily married mama of (almost) 3 children.  My son, Drew is 6, daughter, Dylan is 2 and our newest addition is due in about 6 weeks (another boy).  I am fairly new to all this natural healing.  I love the Pearls...read Created last fall and it changed my life and breathed new life into my marriage.  We have also found that a lot of their child training techniques are things that my husband and I feel strongly about.  I found beeyoutiful through NGJ and started taking Supermom 3 months into this pregnancy.  I am HOOKED!!!  I made a believer in herbal remedies out of my husband last weekend when my daughter came down with a ear infection.  Her fever was rising and she was really miserable.  I made some garlic oil (the recipe for which I found here), and within 24 hours and 2 doses in her ear, the fever was gone, along with the pain.  No more antibiotics for us.  Through our ignorance and youth, my son suffers from allergies, asthma, poor dental health and myriad other ailments related to overuse of antibiotics when he was an infant.  By the way, where would I find info about a candida cleanse for a child?  I just reordered Supermom, so I have to wait a couple of weeks to order Tummy Tune-Up and Yeast Assassin.  You know...$$$$
I really love this website and visit it daily.  I have learned so much.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

P.S.  in case you noticed the time listed here and are wondering why I am not in bed along with the rest of the civilized world...I am suffering from late pregnancy insomnia.  I decided to do something constructive with these few hours instead of driving myself insane lying in the bed, trying to go to sleep and listening to my hubby snore...lol

Hi,
My name is Laura and I am very new to this "website chat thing"!!!!! I think this particular site might be a great learning experience since we all seem to have so much in common.  I am a 37 year old mother of 5 (so far) children 8,6,4,2,(girls) & a 2mo. old boy!!!!  My wonderful husband and I have been married for 12 years.  Our lives drastically changed 2 years ago when we read our first "Pearl" book.  We have been implementing its BIblical concepts regarding parenting, homeschooling, simple living, etc. ever since.  God has been leading us and molding us through this teaching.
We live in southern Ohio (Washington Court House) and would love to find some likeminded families to fellowship and/or chat.  We are beginning some aspects of "homesteading" although I have so much to learn.  Thank you for all the great ideas and knowledge from research and experience that seems to be here.  If I only had all day to learn....

Have a great day to all,
Laura

Commercial Instrument Single Engine A&P is as far as I got when I met my husband and decided to pursue my noncompadible dream of having a whole (as opposed to divided) family.  I choose to forsake my love of aviation and refused to fly away from my babies.  So now I make slings, bread, interesting concoctions that sometimes taste great, and I dream of adopting and of living self suffieciently while striving to be content in our 2 bedroom city apartment. My girls love to run in the sprinkler, are learning to swim and we are starting to homeschool using Christ Centered Cirriculum.

This site is fantastic and I love the advise, sharing and learning.

Hi there,
I have been viewing this site for some time, but have not become a talking member until now...(I wanted to make sure that you all were on the up and up  Smiley) Actually, I try to limit my computer time and spend most of my time checking out links and researching!  This site has been a blessing, and I have shared it with many.  I live in Wyoming, in a county with 4% sales tax! and wonderful agriculture all around us. My closest 'town' is 45 minutes away.  My hobbies are reading, sewing, nature hikes - with my kids, and tent camping.  I am a helpmeet to a superman (rancher), and I have two children 8g and 5b.  My daughter attends public school as we have 2 teachers, under 20 students, and the greatest parental involvement.  If we were to ever move, homeschooling would definately be our education of choice!  We have been eating close to the earth with a large garden for all 11 years of married life, and eat ranch raised beef.   The herbs are rather new to me, but all of you are supporting my need to keep researching and experimenting.  Thank you for this!

~~Well. I see from my profile I've posted 9 times since I joined a few days ago, so I suppose I should introduce myself.  I have been on many groups, chats, etc., and I just love y'all!  Really quite refreshing when combined with the 7xSunday forum....I am about to pick up some Kombucha mushrooms, ordered my Supermom & Tummy Tune Up stuff, and about to order some Jasmine tea, so in a week or so (I am 3 weeks post surgery, see my other posts) I might be riding my oldest dd's Thoroughbred! Which would be quite amazing as I'm not a rider, lol!!  Grin

Ok, so me, Anna, ....hubby, Reon, and I are a native Washingtonian (DC), but we live in the suburbs....he is the young man I met in the 9th grade, and it's soon to be 18 yrs...we have 7 children, & their names are right down below....only our oldest, Jade, ever attended school, but just Kindergarten & 1st grade. We have 2 boys and 5 girls....loads of estrogen in this house, my boys say! My husband is a carpenter & small business owner, the 2 being unrelated, & very, extremely athletic...we have photos of him racing with Lance Armstrong before the rest of the world knew who Lance was, now he's into marathons.  I am the creative type, hopelessly unathletic....he also ministers at a boys/teen prison near our house.

I spend my free time (don't despair young moms, eventually when the babies are off your lap, you'll get some of that elusive free time!) making & designing quilts & sometimes teach at my home or in the local quilt shops...I also make scrapbooks for each of my kids and of the family as a whole, and I am a wild cottage gardener; it is easy to give directions to my house in our suburban neighborhood -- my kids always tell people, "Look for the house with ALL the flowers."

We are unschoolers if you like that term, I hate that we have to have a term, but we're not regimented at all in our 'schooling' -- we just all detest school  Tongue, with everybody being on the same page, not learning to think & learn real life stuff, but being automotons, you get my drift, we ARE very biased and opinionated about school....we do whatever someone needs to do to learn whatever they need or want to learn at the time. Girls like workbooks, boys hate 'em....all like projects and sewing, building, hiking, cooking, and beating me in Scrabble, Soduko, Rummikub and Mancala, and usually, these days, they do! I love it! My 2 oldest decided to 'do' the American School high school by mail....I don't really 'teach' any kids past age 10 or 11, I'm like the facilitator around here...Jade plans to go to college, away, sniff, from us, and is right now, as we speak, at Cambridge University in England studying and traveling....she also teaches piano and has 13 students.  My kids love sports...Jade has been riding for 9 years, and could teach college level courses on any equestrian subject, and she runs, 6 of the 7, including the 4 yr old baby!, are on the swim team...my 2nd son is into football now, and does soccer, too...I am their #1 cheerleader, and so glad they all took after my husband in this respect.

We're kind of oddballs, my husband is very patriotic and conservative, so we all are, and he practices what he preaches, and this is the 'schooling' he gives the kids ~~ he constantly keeps them up to date on whatever's going on in the world, quizzes them; but as a black/mixed family near Washington, DC, the liberal capital of the world, and not being 'mainstream' Christians, + being homeschoolers who don't even 'make' their kids do tons of essays & reports, egads the grandparents say  Shocked, homebirth types, we are weird even & especially in our own family!

And, I am verbose, sometimes to a fault, I am told.

Hello Everyone-

After trying the SuperMom & Spirulina, I saw a reference to this site. What a blessing! I am married to Mr. Steady for almost 15 years. (Reading created to be his Help Meet currently) I am a homeschooling Mom to three, (starting our 9th year of school). We are blessed with a  14 yo son, 13 yo daughter and 2 yo son. We are transplants from the Cheese State (Wisconsin) to the Hoosier State (Indiana), it will be a year in a couple of months. I miss our church family so much as we haven't gotten connected to another church family yet.  Embarrassed

Looking forward to getting to know you all.
