Vanilla Extract for Teething

I dont' know maybe I should have put this under vanilla but it's about teething but not the necklace but I didn't want to start a whole new thread. I didn't want HB to have to type "look it up first" again. Grin

So I hope I found the right place. K, so if you use vanilla on their gums does it have to be real vanilla? will imitation work? is that a dumb ? I dont' see alcohol on the indred. anywhere but I did put some on her gums last night and she settled down and nursed and went to bed. Was it a numbing affect or did she just like the taste? can someone help me with an answer? Thanks.

A friend of mine told me that it works. So I tried it on myself first. I just had some imitation on hand and it did numb it sort of. I next used it on my then 8 mo old and he calmed down as well. He liked it a whole lot more than that oral jell junk my sis let me use! Lips Sealed

I'm guessing it has something to do with the alcohol content so I think that pure would work even better.

I've used Southern Comfort, so I'm sure Vodka would work quite well. Wink

Don't worry, if it's a boy, the next stage is trying to keep them from knocking teeth out during rough play. Shocked

I'm experimenting with a new teething solution:

I've ground up some cloves and am making a tincture with vodka. Its been sitting for about a week (I'm just making a little in a babyfood jar) and I really think it numbs the gums when applied topically! Its not drastic, but it does do something! We'll see how strong it is after another week or so...of course I have this now (not two weeks ago when ds was cutting 3 teeth at once!)
