When you log in, if you look up to your right when logged in you should see

Quote
PM:600(1 new)

...with your username (and PM #s) in place of mine.  This is an indicator of your personal mail box.  You cannot use this message option to email anyone outside the forum, but you can use it to send personal messages to other members in the forum in much the same way you would send them an email.

The easiest way to get there is to click where it says "PM" and it should take you right to your inbox.  At the left are the options available in your message center.  Click on "New Message" to send a note to any other member in the forum including the moderators.

If you don't know the mail id of the person you want to send a note to, another easy way is to click on their name, either from a post or from the Members List (right column).  This will take you to their profile.  Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you should see "Send this member a personal message."  Click on this option to compose a new message to your contact.  If the ID name appears in black and does not appear to be "clickable" this is an idication that the account has been deleted either by the member or by admin which means their profile is not longer accessible, even to regular members.

If you find that you cannot access your inbox, member profiles or the Members' List, this is most likely because you are a new member and have not reached the status which will allow you such privileges.  In order to achieve this user status, we just recommend that you dig in and get involved in the forum.  As you post enough times, this status will change and allow you the same access as the regular members.

These restrictions are placed as a minimal security precaution to keep bots and spammers from easily retrieving emails and other personal information from our members.

These restrictions are also placed on the ability to view member profiles and the Members' List.  More can be found on this topic here.

Accessing Member Profiles and the Members' List[PM]

Please be aware that any posts deemed as an attempt to circumvent this restriction will be deleted at the moderators' discretion.

For those new members who have received personal messages but cannot access their inbox, you can go into your own profile and select the option to notify by email.  This will send your personal messages to the email address that you used to sign up for WellTellMe.  This will not allow you to return a PM, but you can receive and if another member chooses to do so, they may send you an email address for further communication this way.

If you still do not have the ability to send personal messages but need help from me or another moderator/admin, you can send me an email at healthybratt at welltellme dot com.

Notice to Regular Members

You are allowed to share your personal information with anyone you choose whether they be a new or a seasoned member.  I just might point out, that these protocols are put in place for your protection from internet predators, spammers, etc, so unless you know the person, you might want to wait a bit before jumping into any financial transactions or communications which include trading personal information until someone has proved herself an active and trustworthy member.

This is a public forum (available world wide) and although, we make every attempt to keep this a safe environment on the web, WellTellMe cannot keep ALL of the "bad" guys out nor can we take any responsibility for those who are misrepresenting themselves, so we urge you to be cautious.

Ok so I know that I need to post more to become a regular member status. But what do I do if I received a personal message? How can I respond? What should I do? Thanks.

Okay, Zanna.

Looking at the homepage of WTM your avatar and screen name are at the top right of the screen.  If you click on the first bullet, " PM: (1 new)"  it will take you to your inbox and you can scroll down to the message.    There is a 'reply, reply with quote' and something else at the top right of the message.  Just click on one of them to go to a new message page.  If you want to 'save' a copy of what you write, there is a box at the bottom of the white message field that you will need to click on.

This option is not yet available to her.  Her status is new.

Just post a few more times in threads that appeal to you.  Something to ask, share or inform us.  You'll get there sooner than you think.

Help!  Okay, I was just on Urban Exodus and saw that messages sent to me at WTM were in my inbox there too. Not thinking, I deleted them (since in my mind they were duplicates)...only to find upon returning to WTM that the inboxes must be linked! The messages I had been saving are gone!  Cry

I realize this is entirely my fault for acting in ignorance  Roll Eyes, but is there any way to recover them?? If not, oh well...

Do you receive email notification of new PMs?  If you do, check your email account.

You won't be able to reply from there, but you should be able to read the message.  At least, I can.  HTH

Thank you for the suggestion! Yes, I did receive them in my e-mail inbox, but I have since then deleted them!  Roll Eyes  It's okay...I think still have the information I need elsewhere...I was just hoping there was a way to reverse my bockety mishap.

When was the last time you emptied your "deleted" or "trash" folder?

To those who were kind enough to send me a personal message, I was unable to receive them because I didn't have them sent to my email account. I read this thread and corrected my settings.

Sorry for the newbie moment!  Embarrassed
