  G6PD deficency or favism......

we have a family ready to adopt a soon to be 2month old and it was recently relayed to us that he is G6PD deficent or has "favism". We are all researching it, but wanted to know of anyone who has dealt with this. It's one thing to read all the medical jargon and another to hear from someone who has/is dealt with it in real life.
The adopting parents, though still going to adopt, are reading things and becoming slight panicky about all the things to avoid and such. Any advice?
