Internal Scar Tissue -scars in the digestive respiratory or reproductive systems

I know there is a thread for treating external scars but there's not one for internal scars (that I've found) and how to treat them. I'm not talking about treating the cause of the scars, but after the damage is done, how you would treat the scar itself or even if you can. Anyway, I felt that since the answers would be so different it needed a separate thread.

My mother has scars in her esophagus that are from reflux.They are so tough and rigid that they prevent the muscles at the bottom on her esophagus from closing properly. This is causing other more serious medical problems.

Is there any way to treat internal scar tissue to reduce or soften it?

I have been taking aloe vera capsules of and on for over a year and I've gained tremendous relief from C-section scar tissue.

On the outside, my scar is visibly better--smaller, closer to skin color, and just generally less angry looking.

On the inside, I was having excruciating pain on one side because they cut me too wide on the last go-around (3 C's total). The pain was in my leg (pantyline) and would hurt anytime I would bend or twist wrong. This pain faded and then eventually disappeared. I'm convinced that the the aloe is what took care of it.

There's also info posted on C-Sections and Vasectomies, that I believe would also apply.

Are there side effects? I read somewhere that people with certain conditions shouldn't use aloe internally but I don't remember any specifics. Anybody know about this?

about concerns about taking aloe internally. Mine is only talking about the outer leaf & not the gel. I can't find anything in my books that mentions a condition where aloe gel use is contraindicated. (Doesn't mean it's not there, I just haven't found it here...)

Vitamin E and Aloe Vera internally and externally

Wheat Grass, Barley Grass for scars in lungs.

What about slippery elm? I know it's good for mucous membranes. Huh

I second, third, and probably fourth the aloe vera juice. It is SO powerful for healing inner damage. My MIL was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Her intestines were prone to ulcers and would get infected. Then, bits of food would get caught in her intestinal walls, etc. She takes aloe vera juice and hasn't had a problem with it in over 6 years!

I have an idea that enzyme therapy might be very helpful. Expensive, but helpful. At high doses certain enzymes can dissolve "non-vital" protein: scar tissue, plaque, fibrin, etc.

Also, lumbrokinase is used in MS to dissolve vascular fibrin deposits and in fibromyalgia to dissolve fibrin deposits in muscle tissue.

Nattokinase and serrapeptase are also used to "clean out" protein deposits in various body systems.

As far as the aloe vera, wouldn't it be most helpful to take the actual juice rather than capsules, for esophogeal scars? That way there would be actual contact between the aloe and the scar. Just thinking...

Aloe gel or Aloe juice? I'm confused about the two for this type of thing. Do neither of them contain the outer part of the leaf? I thought it was just the gel. Or are the juice and the gel the same thing?

I have been having pain from my C-Section scar lately, would treating the scar internally and/or externally with Aloe and Vitamin E help for a scar that stings and burns off and on even 14 years after the surgery? What form does the aloe come in? Liquid drink, or capsules? Do most health food stores carry it? I have a plant I can use for the external treatment.

Will the aloe help with the cut nerves?
If not- what will?

I had my cesarean 13 years ago and STILL have that creepy feeling that comes with nerves being cut and not healing correctly, really slowly healing or not ever healing.
Of course heaven help me if I wear bikini type underwear and the band catches in that "rut". Gives me the creeps, shivers and often pain- all at the same time.
(I know they sewed & stapled me up right as I have had two VBACs since then at home. No problems.)

I've been thinking about this subject quite a bit. My periods have been really heavy since the D&C, which was in May. This is NOT normal for me, even post partum they've never been this heavy. I've taken aloe vera capsules, in fact I'm STILL taking them, but nothing seems to be healing. I'm pretty sure I had a miscarriage last cycle about the time of implantation as well. So I'm going to start using DMSO once a day over my uterus and see if I notice a difference in my cycles. I've had good success with smaller "internal wounds" like a huge broken blood vessel in my foot, and it was amazing how fast I healed.

Two other thoughts:

1. Heavy bleeding could be due to a shift in your progesterone levels. I had a major downshift after a DNC, and had very light periods for the first time in my life. This also resulted in a miscarriage. I chose to 'go natural' with that miscarriage, and it 'reset' my system. The doctor who I saw was very young. I told her that I'd like to miscarry naturally instead of having another DNC (I was early in the pregnancy, with no complicating factors, and had already begun to bleed). She leaned in and whispered "I don't blame you. I've seen too much."

2. Scarring can also be a side affect of a DNC and results in miscarriages...sometimes very late in a pregnancy. The placenta does fine until it grows over a scarred area, and then begins to malfunction as it can't grow in and get the nutrition it needs. This has happened (early and mid-term losses) to a friend of mine 6-7 times before the doctors discovered the problem. Regular ultrasounds weren't detecting the scarring. She was finally diagnosed by a specialist who looked at the lining via camera. My friend had a deeper DNC proceedure that effectively smoothed out the uterine walls and allow it to heal again. She's now the proud mama of baby number 7. (One through six, she had absolutely no problems, and miscarried for the first time after #6...then the drama began.)
I think the DMSO would show results for you if this is the case. I wonder if Aloe (as suggested by HB) would be a good addition to the DMSO to speed healing.

I'd love to hear your results! I don't think doctors really tell women the dangers associated with a DNC. I know that they are necessary in some case, but many times, they are not. I know my doctor didn't really even discuss it with me as if it was a choice for the first one. That was really what pushed me to begin to get to know my body and how it worked...now I ask a LOT more questions, and am much more proactive in my own healthcare. If I had to have a DNC, I think I would put a lot more effort in interviewing Doctors, and find one who is open with me about the risks/proceedure, has a history of successful DNC's and lots of experience.

Does anyone have any input as to how to deal with scar tissue in the upper esophagus of a 3 year old? I don't know of anyway of knowing how bad it is without surgery to put some kind of scope down his throat to see it. It does bother him sometimes and occasionally causes him to choke, so I really want to do something to help, but he is only 3, so it is more difficult than an adult.
