Side Effects from Doxycycline

I'm having a problem with doxycicline. Whenever I take it, I end up feeling sick and I throw up. What should I do about this?

Do you eat a fatty protien before taking it? I know that usually if people don't have a fatty protien before taking Doxyacicline, that they usually throw up. So, if you haven't been taking a fatty protien, like an egg, then I'd reccomend eating one and see how you feel.

I agree with Bluestripe that you need to make sure you are taking it on a full stomach with plenty of water.
If you continue to vomit it you need to let your doctor know as you aren't getting all of your doses, and may possibly have a sensitivity to the drug. I would be worried about not getting all of the doses primarily and not let this go on much longer.

Thank you bluestripe and Mrs. B. I took a doxycicline about 40 minutes ago with an egg before hand. I usually get sick about 10-20 minutes after I take the pill, but it's been 40 minutes and I feel great! I think my problem is solved.

Hey, I'm so glad!

And just in case nobody mentioned this to you before, Doxy makes you very sun sensitive. If you burn while on Doxy, then you won't be able to take the drug anymore because the drug itself will then be extremely toxic to you. People get burned when they're outside in the shade or, while driving, they can get burned on the back of their hands. So be careful, okay?
