Will Sharing Earrings Transfer Hepatitus C? Suggestions for Prevention

I know this may seem like a stupid question but I just don't want to take any chances. Undecided

I could not find the answer anywhere else on line.

I inherited some of my aunts nice pierced earrings, she had Hepatitis C. Will soaking them in alcohol kill all the germs from her illness? How long do I need to soak them? One pair has Opals in them will the alcohol hurt the stones?

I don't know about the health part of your question, but i would NOT put opals in alcohol.

Ditto on the opals. You are supposed to clean these only with soap and water (incidental while washing of hands) and oil to prevent the stones from breaking as they get brittle and crack.

Maybe you should soak them in some olive oil with some essential oils thrown in to disinfect?? Lavender, peppermint and eucalyptus come to mind.
