Coffee with a Kick or 3- Capulin
« on: April 15, 2006, 10:44:49 AM » by gusoceros
Good day friends- this is my first post to this forum- my wife keeps recommending threads to me to read, so I figured I should join to be able to reply  Cool

Anyway, I thought I would bless you all with an outstanding recommendation to my fellow coffee drinkers.  I came across this coffee product that is also a Christian Mission- and I highly recommend people to consider this product.  You can do good with each jungle grown hand picked sun dried extremely rich cup of aromatic coffee you drink!  Here is the plug from their website:

    CAPULIN BRIEF OVERVIEW

Re-Presenting the Magic of A Naturally Stimulating, Low Acid Coffee!

CAPULIN is a Hand Crafted, 'Traditionally Sun Dried',
100% Natural Shade Grown Jungle Coffee.
It has been hand picked, hand selected, hand sorted and
hand processed and is derived from 100% fully mature, red,
ripe and delicious Arabica Tipica coffee cherries.

As far as we are able to ascertain, and help us out in this if someone has knowledge that we are incorrect….. No other coffee company in the world is able to make this incredible claim:

*CAPULIN provides the sweetest, least bitter and most stimulating 100% Arabica Tipica coffee available anywhere, at any price, provides more money per pound directly to local villagers than any other coffee company in the 'Third World' and more than doubles the price paid to the 'campesino' farmers for their Coffee Cherries.

CAPULIN goes far beyond the minimum standards provided by so called, ‘Fair Trade’ Coffees![/list]

This coffee costs a bit more than other coffee- but it is very much worth it!!  I am hooked and spoiled by this coffee- I have even begun my own home coffee roasting hobby to satisfy my taste for this coffee a bit more budget consciously.  In any case, I linked the copy paste title above to the CAPULIN website, so enjoy!  If you decide to try some- tell Daniel Fourwinds that gusoceros sent you by  Grin

    Cheers my friends!

Yes HB!  I agree!!  Coffee is a food, that like most processed foods- has its nutritional value stripped away in the processing.  Capulin is coffee with its nutritional value intact- and a much fuller coffee flavor!

I'm looking to buy some of this Capulin coffee........but can't choose what kind of roast....from the roasts below what would you all recomend as the best tasteing roast?

    Select Capulin Coffee Roasts:

    Continental:
Our Light Roast, the original fruit wine flavour of
coffee. This is a taste unavailable in commercially
    fermented and washed coffees.

    Vienna:
Our Medium Roast, providing ample fruit wine flavour
with a slight mask of roast flavour,

    French:
Our Dark Roast, almost completely covering the fruit
flavour of CAPULIN, ‘but not quite’. It is slightly similar
to the taste that most coffee drinkers have become
    accustomed to, without the bitterness.
Most coffee companies use a dark roast to mask (hide)
the lack of the natural, sweet fruit sugars and flavour
oils lost in their washed coffee products.

    Midday Magic:
Our Roast as Black as a Raven, yet Smooth as Glass. An
Espresso or Turkish Coffee for people who like the
roasted flavor of coffee without the bitterness.

    Mocha:
0ur flavoured roast. Organic cocoa, vanilla and coconut
oils basted on our Light Continental roast.
    Very popular!

    Peaceful Rainbow Blend:
Our 5 select roasts combined into one. For breakfast or
desert there is no taste in the coffee world to match it!
Yin/Yang Breakfast Blend: An incredible balance of our Light Continental and our

    Dark French.
A highly stimulating, low acid, delicious
    way to start your day!

    Green Free:
Lightly decaffeinated in rain and spring water
    (available seasonally).

I prefer a dark roast with low acid, so if I were choosing from the list above, I would most enjoy the midday magic.

I also usually like breakfast blends, so the peaceful rainbow blend sounds intriguing too.

I asked the same question of Daniel Fourwinds- the manager of Capulin coffee, and he recommended trying the Continental as at least one of your choices, because it has the original taste of the coffee bean- all the coffee wine is intact (full flavor), and is likely quite a bit different than you have ever tasted before.  It also has a lot of caffeine.  If you like the blends and such, you may just want to get 2 bags, and make continental an experiment in full flavored coffee, and the other bag something close to what you are used to.  I like this idea, because if all youve had is the commercially available beans or ground, then it's a taste worth trying.

    Just MHO
