Parvo in Humans

A friend of mine just informed me that she has tested positive for parvo. She had 2 dogs who passed away from it around a year ago. We know that it can live in the ground for a few years. We all live out in the country and walk around barefoot all the time (which we will do no longer) and I'm wondering if I need to be concerned about my children since they're 2 and 4 and can't tell me if they're having any symptoms. I know filling them up with garlic, coconut oil and cod liver oil is beneficial. Just curious if anyone else has had experience with this.

Okay, done some research on 1/2 a dozen websites and they all say that the dog parasite parvo is not contagious to other species of animals or humans. However, ParvoB19 virus (not the parasite) is also known as Fifths disease and it is found in humans.

I'm still interested in any info anyone might have.

My sister-in-law just tested positive for this as well. I don't know alot about it either, but her doctor said most healthy adults normally don't test positive for Parvo. He also stated that only the really immunocompromised individuals usually catch this type of virus. My sister-in-law is being looked at by a Immunologist right now. Her symptoms are joint pain, major chronic fatigue, chest congestion at times, headache, and just muscle pain. They know believe she may either have Lupus or Celiac disease.

I know dog parvo is not passable to humans. My husband used to work with a vet who confirmed this. That's all the info I have on the human parvo 9 virus.
