Hey, is anyone still out there?
I will now finally start tomorrow with the diet for my whole family. So, we'll see how it goes. It's a little bit hard, as the girl from Germany, who's staying with us has a bit of a hard time adjusting, and now she has to be limited on her food also!
And I only have a month worth of time doing it, so I hope it's worth it.
We're going to have eggs for breakfast, the 2 boys who go to school, will take pecan-muffins along, and for lunch (our main-course) we'll have banana-curry-soup (I still do fruits, I won't give out a lot of bananas, but I thought I make it not to hard for them the first day:)), and I'm not sure yet what we will eat for supper, maybe more muffins.
My DH just came back from the US and brought a cook book along, that looks promising It's called: Allergy & Candida Cooking Made Easy. But I haven't had time yet to read  a lot.
Well, I hope someone else is still doing the diet. It's way easier if one's not alone.

Hi Elenita, I'm still here. Smiley  I'm doing pretty good and starting to see some results, I have to admit though, the only thing that's keeping me sane is eating a small amount of something every day that's NOT good for me at all.  Atkins diet bars - the chocolate peanut butter kind.  Undecided  They're not great, full of fake food, BUT, I don't eat a lot of them and I learned with my first attempt that I don't have the willpower to stick to this diet without something sweet every day.  The licorice root and stuff is keeping my blood sugar from crashing, but I'm psychologically addicted to sweet stuff and eating a small amount these enables me to keep on this diet.

I'm glad to report that in spite of the diet bars (which do not replace any meals, are just an occasional sweet dessert) some of my candida symptoms are starting to clear up!  Yay!

Ridgerunner, I'm so glad you're seeing progress, that's so motivating. I wouldn't worry too much about your sweet-bars, hey if that's what you need to keep you going and you see you're making progress-go for it.  It really seems to be a long way for some of us, but I think it's worth it!
I did the spit test the other day again, and the result was WAY better than in April.

The first day with all the family went pretty okay. They liked the Pecan-Muffins, half of them didn't like the soup though. But there's always someone who doesn't like the food Tongue Wink.
The hardest for my littlest (4 years) was, that he couldn't take a Granola-Bar to Kindergarten and that he couldn't drink milk. But he didn't complain too much. He's the one who's really sugar addicted. So I was expecting much more crying for sweet stuff.
Well, we see what the next days will bring.
Unfortunately both my husband and I came down with a bad cold, and we take turns lying in the bad and being there for the children, so I don't have the energy for a lot of extra-baking or cooking. So I prepared them already that tomorrow we'll have eggs again for breakfast and muffins for school-break. Probably will prepare some chicken and brown rice for lunch.

I was going to start an anti-candida diet tomorrow, but since I've said that four times now, I'm starting today instead! Since I'm nursing, I'm not going to completely eliminate dairy, just drastically reduce it. My biggest problem is dessert and Dr. Pepper. I have a serious, serious addiction to soda. I want to lose about 15 pounds and I haven't gotten the willpower to do it. Only now, I'm on antibiotics for the first time in many years (serious bacterial infection) and my 6-month-old already has a rash, and it's day 4! So I've got to do something. Only hoping I can have enough self-control to stick with it!

Hi Prolifeguyswife!  That's a mouthful!  Grin  We're all rooting for you.  Just do it for your little guy, one day a a time.  It will get easier as time goes.  Have you tried mixing your Dr. Pepper with a little water, and then increasing the ratio?  Do you like lemonade?  You can make lemonade with stevia (I use 1/2 tsp of pure stevia for 2 quarts - you might like a little more).  Depending on how strict you want to get, I have a couple of other drink recipes you might like.  They would use grapes or rhubarb (really good) or raspberries.  Some people still eat the berries and/or green grapes.  We did.  There are lots of dessert recipes using stevia and glycerin (a mixture of both) that will satisfy your sweet tooth.  Look through this thread for some ideas.  This website has tons of recipes and advice too:
www.wholeapproach.com

I was just thinking about you guys, here on the thread.  How is everyone else doing?  We're not doing the diet, but we are staying lower carb.  Remember my 6 yo and his wild behavior?  He finally settled down and got used to the school routine, but I also took him off of almost all dairy (except he still has yogurt and occasional string cheese) and I don't know if that helped, along with the gluten free.  But the last week or so he has been a joy to have! LOL  Good thing, because of the other trials in our life.  One being my DD started with depression last week.  We're taking her to a Christian counselor next Monday.

so  I've ditched my coffee...but wondering is decaf ok? No sugar or cream of  course...
What about sour cream? kefir is good, but can't you make cheese and sour cream from kefir, so why wouldn't cheese and sour cream be ok?
what about blue agave nectar?

10 days w/o coffee, low fruit and only whole grain toast occassionally! no noodles, etc. I feel pretty good. Doing lots of quinoa, beans, chicken, burgers (no bun) Sourkraut, kefir and plain yogurt (w/ mangos, my fruit sweet treat for the day!) trying to do salads w/ applecider vinegar and coconut oil.

WI Cheesehead, sweet stuff I can still eat is exactly what I need! I am a sweet drink-aholic, so I will definitely be making that lemonade with stevia - I just asked DH to pick up lemons on his way home today so I can try it! Thanks for the info!

Mommie, I have the same questions. I wonder if the blue agave nectar is ok. I plan to still eat brown rice and quinoa. Pasta is going to be hard, though, I guess even wheat pasta is against the rules?

I ended up quitting the diet, Dh didn't think it was going to work, and didn't like the way we were eating. So I quit, I'm trying to stay low carb and low sugar, but it's not working too well. Sad

There is a buckwheat pasta called soba noodles that are allowed.  Also spaghetti squash is a good pasta substitute.  Another one is spiralized zuchini.  Just some ideas to help with the pasta withdrawal!  Grin

Sorry you had to quit, HappyWifey, but definitely understandable.  This is a hard diet to follow!

Just watch with the soba noodles.  I got some at the Asian market (couldn't find them elsewhere) and they were part regular wheat and part buckwheat.  You can also find Tindyada brown rice pasta.  It cookes up really nicely.

Prolifeguyswife, welcome and don't get discouraged. I know it sounds impossible if you feel like you're addicted to sugar. I was there, I always thought those people who have to follow strict diets like glutein/casein free are amazing and I could never do it. Until my health was so down that I needed to do something, I actually did the SCD-diet (no grains, no milk only 24-hours-yogurt and cheese, but fruit is allowed and that helped me a lot) for the first months, and it's amazing how my sugar graving went down. I also was hypoglycemic and after 2 weeks I didn't have any low-sugar-attacks any more. So hang in there like WIC said, it's for your little one.

My diet is now more a healing-the-gut diet, so no sugar, no gluten, milk (I still do yogurt), no eggs, nuts, beans.. and I put the rest of my family on a no gluten/no milkproducts/no sugar!-diet, plus I give them all Three-Lac, and it does seem to help.

Two of my boys have strong ticks, and they have calmed down immensly!, I am so happy, it is so hard to see your 7-year old jerk his head every 10 seconds or so! and it was so tiring for him. It's not completely gone, but way better he's only winking (is that the right word?) with his eyes.
I also have one boy, who is a really read-headed, strong-willed challenge  Wink, but even he had some really, really, really good days on the weekend. Yesterday was worse again, but I think it also has to do with the amount of sleep he gets.

Ladies,
 I have been reading parts of this thread for awhile.
I have had what I know now is a yeast infection for at least 3 months, after not ever having one before.
My family and I have tried to eliminate all sugars and yeasts from our diet for the past 10 days as we take tummy tuneup and yeast assassin. I am nursing, so I'm doing the YA lite.  I also attempt to insert a garlic clove in me at night to help clean everything out.
I have never had any symptoms of die off and I still have a little bit of discharge, so my question is:  how long do I/should we continue this diet?
Is non-symptoms of yeast infection the indicator to stop the supplements?
As this is the 10th day, I ate rice chips and made whole wheat muffins for dinner with our eggs.  (no sugar, keifer for milk)
Was the past 10 days in vain?
Any advice would be welcomed.

Elenita, thanks for the encouragement. I'm really struggling with no sugar, and I've messed up a few times, but I'm still working on it. What is three-lac? How does it help?

It must be a blessing to see your sons doing so much better. I'm encouraged to make my kids eat healthier. If only friends and relatives would stop giving them so much sugar, I think we'd be in better shape!

I found this at Wilderness Family Naturals:

Whipped Cream

This coconut cream can be whipped just like whipping cream. It will form nice soft peaks and is wonderful in coffee, tea or any warm drink. During the summer months it is too warm to use room temperature cream for whipping. We suggest you place the coconut cream in the refrigerator overnight prior to whipping. If the coconut cream is cold it whips very nicely.

To make whipped cream, place your cold coconut cream into a bowl and put your mixer on the highest speed it will go. This takes a little longer than regular whipping cream, but it will eventually whip into nice soft peaks, similar to cool whip. Just add the sweetener of your choice and a little vanilla.

~~~
Another option popped up: Add 1 cup of coconut milk powder to one can of coconut milk.  Chill and whip.  Very coconut-y, though.
what exactly is coconut cream?
Coconut cream is thicker and less sweet than coconut milk because of higher fat content.  You can order it from www.WildernessFamilyNaturals.com.  (Although it is currently out of stock.)
Welcome mommie,
I wouldn't worry too much if you don't show die off. One of my sons didn't have any and he seems to have no more yeast.
It could be that your yeast just isn't that bad, or that at least it's not dying faster than your body can clean it out.
What I do with my kids is the spit test. Look here if you want to know more about it.
http://www.stopyeast.com/saliva.html
I also don't think you ruin everything by having a bad day. Sure, it would be better to stay on the diet, but your ten days won't be ruined. I think it would slow down the process of healing, but not destroy it. So keep on, don't get discouraged!
I would say that you should at least finish one jar of YA, but if the saliva test comes out positive, you're probably fine.
prolifeguyswife -  How are you doing? Three Lac is a product from the company of the website with the spit test. You can take it while nursing and I think it's safer for children than Yeast Assassin. It is a very strong probiotic and not cheap, but you know, I think if you count what you need for YA and Tummy Tune Up together, it's not that much more expensive.
It is pretty stretching for us right now, as the whole family (apart from me, I started YA and TTU already a while ago) takes it.
I still can see improvements with my kids, but I'm sorry to say that the ticks are back, especially in my 8-year old, but then, he had 3 very, very stressfull weeks too. Actually the ticks changed. Now he's not jerking his head but squeaking like a little pig. It's a good opportunity for the rest of the family to learn patience and acceptance Smiley.
I think this varies. How well do you avoid trigger foods? How much other inflammation was present? How much leaky gut or healing needs to occur for the body to maintain a healthy flora balance?
If the yeast population is reduced, but there is a lot of inflammation still present, no good flora established, no healthy intestines for the good flora to even get started in.....get back on to a regular diet with sugars/starches/ and foods high on the inflammatory list and you'll have problems with candida or other opportunistic yeast or bacteria AGAIN.
Once you have reduced or eliminated the symptoms of fungal overgrowth or bowel dysbosis then I'd say it's safe to experiment with adding more foods. Experiment being the key word. Observe how your body responds and be ready to go back and finish healing so you don't lose what was gained to that point.
hi all, just wanted to post for any avoiding dairy that it is really good to make a latte sort of thing with about 1/2 coconut milk and 1/2 rice milk.  it totals about 1/2 cup for me, and i use 9 or 10 oz of water and the espresso machine and froth the milk.  yummy!  rather pricey, but so worth it!    Grin
Anyone doing this at the moment?  I'm starting in a few days and dreading it.  At least it's a determined length of time (6 weeks).  I'm having a tough time figuring out what diet to stick to.  There are so many.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
I'm doing this (Diflucan):
Hello. I am doing an ant-candida diet and having a bit of an issue...hoping one or more of you can help...
I have been doing the diet...no sugar/white foods/processed foods etc for about two and a half weeks.
I have been taking three times a day before meals...one yeast assassin, one tummy tune up, one ultra immune, one digestive enzyme.
almost every day i have some flax oil and coconut oil.
my diet consists of eggs, salmon, chicken, beef, lamb, vegetables, fruit (berries only, one to two cups), and occasional serving of cheese. (as a garnish on my favorite soup)
beginning last tuesday...i have had extreme fatigue, headache, brain fog, muscle and back aches, irritablity, emotional etc.
since last tuesday when it started, this is what i have added to try to combat it...nettle tea, lots of water, super mom, and yesterday, psyllium. as i read that fiber is very important to getting the toxins out.
any suggestions for what could be going on? could this be "die off"? i am concerned that this could be some sort of underlying problem that i sort of "self-medicated" with all the sugar/white flour/caffeine i was consuming...and now that i have cut all that out the problem has surfaced, any and all help appreciated! thanks
it sounds a lot like die off to me, but if it's too much, back off on the anti-candida supplements a bit. my doc said to take 2 capsules of activated charcoal 3 timesa day to help with die off.  have you looked into food allergies? there's always the possibility that when you change your diet, you start eating more of something you're allergic too? I have all those symptoms by the way-- all your die off symptoms, but they get worse if I hit the anti candida stuff hard.
