  synagis shot for preemie baby

I have a 14 week old baby born at 29 weeks gestation. I took him in to be weighed yesterday and the nurse told me his synagis shot would be due in 2 weeks. I have been trying to research this shot I understand it is different than an imunization, but what exactly is it? I seem to only find medical promotions of it. Does anyone have expeerience with synagis? research? Trustworthy web links? Thanks
