Colloidial silver side effects??? HELP!

I am fighting a really bad case of something - sore throat, can't talk and coughing green gunk from my throat/lungs. I'm taking garlic and colloidial silver, but am worried about the warning I just read on the bottle of my colloidial silver I just bought. It says not to exceed 1 t. daily (I probably took 2 yesterday) and to stop using it if you start looking blue or gray in the skin or mucous membranes. I did some searching on google, and it seems that colloidial silver does build up in your skin, which can result in irreversible gray/blue color if you take it too much. I know that since I've only taken the stuff for a couple days, I'm probably not in danger, but I don't like the thought of taking anything that can "build up" in my body. Kind of scary. What do you all think? How much/how often do you use colloidial silver? Does it kill good bacteria like antibiotics?

how many ppm is your silver? i think that makes a difference.
i have read some stuff on it too that warns about not taking to much but i have also read that it is completely safe on other sites sooo it's tough BUT i do know it depends on how many parts per million it is. one that is 50ppm is very metally tasting and brownish and STRONG. the one i use one that is 10ppm and it is lighter and less strong tasting and i would give my kids 2-3 tsp of that a day while they were sick. the HFS guy said that that was ok with that one.

anyways- i will try to find out more for you. sorry if that wasn't very helpful.

Hi,

I don't remember what kind I had (it really didn't taste bad), but while I was sick...I took it several times a day. I know that it works well for fighting infections. I was very sick at the time (thinking about going to the dr...I never do that unless I am REALLY REALLY SICK), and had a new baby. By the next day/morning I could really tell a difference (I actually felt like I might live)! I gave it to my toddler too, and we didn't have any problems. I was told that this will kill the good bacteria in the body. I took the silver by day, and the probiotic by night. That worked fine, and it's not supposed to be taken together anyway.

The whole blue-gray skin thing is only caused by silver "colloids" that are protein based. I have never seen this type of colloidal silver, but I guess there are still some commercially available...

Silver-Colloids.com contains a list of the offending brands and other information that I generally agree with.

The author makes one statement which I don't actually agree with: he says that colloidal silver that is a slight yellow is in fact ionic and not colloidal... later he says that "true colloidal silver" should have "some color." Well, what I would say is that all the good colloidal silver that I have made has a beautiful, absolutely clear, golden color. Its hard to believe that a liquid could be "golden" and not "yellow," but it is. It is the most amazing clear golden hue.

If the Silver is really colloidal... no protein... you probably cannot take too much. I am the experimenting type...

As far as "what bacteria does Colloidal Silver kill?" It seems that it doesn't really kill any bacteria... but that it somehow balances the flora... I have no idea how it does this, but the classic Colloidal Silver experiment is to pour yourself 4 oz of milk, add some colloidal silver (10 to 30 drops maybe) and leave the milk out on your counter next to 4 oz that have no Colloidal Silver added. What I have heard from others is that even though the Colloidal Silver milk takes much longer to sour, it continues to have a thriving culture from almost day one... In other words the Colloidal Silver (according to these experimenters) seems to just keep the bacterial flora in a neutral state for a while... not sure if this is true or accurate, but I am pretty sure that colloidal silver is "good flora safe."

That said, I think that we need a batch of experiments... hint, hint!

Thought this was interesting, not against colloidial silver, we grew up with it. My Dad and pastor make their own, but thought people might need to see the serious of over-doing things, I mean I tend to go overboard if I find a good thing like colloidial silver. Reading over several 'promotional' silver websites concerned me, as there seems to be little if any scientific data to back up their claims for a miracle cure. This article on Colloidal silver gives lots of information on how it works internally and topically. It's not something I would take lightly for internal uses:
