I read in Dr. Schultze's recipe for Detoxification Formula that when using red clover flowers, they should have a deep violet/purple color indicating they were picked at the peak of their medicinal value. He says if they're brown, then the blood-cleansing chemicals are gone.
I bought a bag of red clover blossoms from San Francisco Herb Company a while back. I got them out to inspect them and they are brown! Sad

Should I just throw them away? Has anyone else had any experience with this issue. Have you used red clover flowers that are brown anyway and noticed any difference in their performance?

I can't believe we don't have more on this wonderful plant! I'll have to share some more when I have time. Big in fighting cancer/tumors.

I drink it as a nourishing herbal infusion...about 1/2 c. in a qt. of water steeped overnight.

How would red clover sprouts be? Would you get the same benefits from then as from the flowers?

I would not think that the sprouts have the same properties as the flowers. Every article that I have read on red clover speaks about the fully opened, purple colored blossom as having the medicinal benefit.

We usually throw a couple of clover blossoms in the pot when making medicinal teas, along with a few peppermint leaves to enhance the effect and make the tea more palatable.
