Just a reminder that skim milk is not homogenized.  That makes it a better choice if you have to use milk.
Most commercial skim milk is homogenized, but with less cream.  It's still a better choice IMO.

Thanks again. This is just SO overwhelming! Its driving me crazy!  Angry   Shocked

I was reading up on the Candida, and it said that gluten feeds yeast. So maybe thats some sort of a connection that I have to figure out.

Ahhh. I just wanna scream!

I have to soak all this in and see what we can do. Will a regular dr test for yeast, or is it just Naturopaths?

There are alot of "replacements" for foods with gluten, but it doesn't have to be complicated.  If I were going to go gluten free to learn, heal and move on to the next step, learning to make gluten free bread would NOT be the first thing I did.  I might eventually get to this step, but I would start with removing foods only, not trying to find new ones to replace them.

Figure out which foods don't have gluten and eat them.  Simple as that.  I've seen so many women get to this point (I don't envy you at all) and they get so overwhelmed because the ladies who've been gluten free for several years have got it all figured out with their recipes and these first-timers look at them and make comparisons.  Don't do this to yourself, you'll just wind up giving up before you make any progress.

In The Mysteries of Autism and PPD the author lays out that she fed her son mainly a diet of rice, turkey, chicken and potatoes for a very long time.  There were also fruits and veggies after the yeast thing was taken care of, but the point is that she didn't spend her time grinding and mixing the perfect gluten free flour.  She spent it preparing and feeding her son foods that she was already familiar with that were safe for him.  As this became the norm for them and she could relax because his health was no longer a forefront concern, she had more time and motivation to learn to make gluten free bread, muffins, & treats.

The gluten thread is a good resource for these "treats", but if it were me, I wouldn't start there.  I would go with what I know.  I'd feed my kids lots of meats, eggs (if they were tolerated), rice, potatoes, green beans, salads, brocolli, cheese (if dairy tolerated), etc.  KWIM?

My family is not gluten free and I hope we never have to be, but if it became apparent that we had to be, I'd be in your boat (a beginner) and I wouldn't even try to run before I could crawl.  It's just MHO but I hope it helps.

BTW, I would highly recommend the book I mentioned above for anyone starting out with gluten/casein free.  She gives all the whys, whens and hows a mom needs when she's feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next.  She also has a very extensive list of foods to avoid (ie commercial french fries are dipped in gluten).

HB, Thank you. Thats great advice!

So what's your take on this? I know you're not a doctor or anything, but after reading this tread, do you also think that it is a gluten allergy, or could it just be candida?

I think it could be both.  If you stop eating gluten and your symptoms improve then I would treat for both and leaky gut as well in hopes that the gluten sensitivity would reverse itself once the gut was healed.

I won't de-rail this thread but wanted to quickly point out that Super Walmart has a few gluten free products if you are desperate for something. They have spaghetti(you have to look around for it) Brownie Mix and Muffin Mix. The brownie and muffin mix I've not tried but they are a lot cheaper than regular stores and if you have a birthday or something come up in the midst of all this... they would be an easy, quick, cheap option. I've been off gluten for almost a month.

I just wanted to post an update... maybe just for my sake  Roll Eyes

Anyway, I wanted to share with all of you (who read this thread) that it looks like the boys are on the way to healing PRAISE GOD!!!  Grin

I am absolutely THRILLED but also don't know EXACTLEY what is fixing the problem. I'm gonna say its all the things working together.. don't know if one is more than the others...

Like I said I was gonna do, I started treating them for yeast from the inside out with lots of different supplements. Eating a very low carb diet. Also taking lots of Dead Sea salt baths. Within the last week (when they started the diet) is when we REALLY started to see the results. Their problems are looking about 75% fixed!! We are soooo super excited!!!

How long after ALL the symptoms are gone should I keep them on the low carb diet??

I got the Makers Diet and in there Jordan says that this diet works WONDERFUL for candida sufferers. I guess I will just follow his plan for myself & the kids. It can't hurt them, just help them heal!!  Smiley

I'm so excited & just wanted to share with you!!

oh, and their low carb diet hasn't been perfect. We let them have a piece of sprouted wheat bread or some fruit just a few times... but still, its working!!

PRAISE GOD!!!  Grin  What a relief!!

I would go low carb for 2-6 weeks (whatever you can manage) and then make sure to follow up with some good probiotics and cod liver oil for gut healing to keep these things from coming back.

Be sure to avoid the food triggers you've discovered for as long as possible and don't reintroduce for several months of probiotics and such.  Their sensitivity may reverse itself, but if you introduce too soon, it could slow the healing process.

Glad to hear they are doing well.

And bone broths, if you can. The gelatin in the broth will coat and sooth the gut lining and give the good germies a place to live.

Thanks HB & Whiterock. They are getting lots of broths. And I do plan to keep them on this low carb diet for hopefully 6 weeks at least. I think we can do it if God will help us... financially & for me to come up with recipes. Eating low carb is so much more pricier than just eating a bunch of carbs  Roll Eyes But thats what got us in this problem in the 1st place  Roll Eyes

I've been following this post as I have had the same symptoms for two years now. I went gluten free for around two months in the middle of that did a 9 day juicing fast and ended that with the Hulda Clark's colon/ gallbladder cleanse.

After the cleanse all rashes on the bottom went away. It came back when I got upset and then went away again. Now it has been gone completely for about two weeks and that is even after having gluten for the last week. I did have onions one day and started itching again but the rash hasn't reappeared. Itching is gone again as well.

I tell you all this because I think if you can manage to do the juicing cleanse (eat nothing just have fresh juice and as much as you want) it will help to speed up the healing process and getting rid of what ever the problem is faster. I think mine was due to cortisone cream stored in my body. I was using it for over a year not knowing I was allergic to it. and by the way a specialist told me never to use cortisone on the bottom area. Said it had permalty damaged me. I have been applying pure vit. E oil and dh says it looks completely better.

I hope some of this is a help to you as I know how miserable it can be to be itchy there. Undecided
