Sending Pictures in Personal Messages [PMs]
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:12:03 PM » by doggymom22
I'm wondering how you send pictures through a PM? I know that someone sent my mom some pictures that way once, but I can't figure out how it's done.

TIA!!

Hey Fish Lovers!   Cheesy

One way I've done it is to load pix onto www.photobucket.com and then link them in the PM (copying the link and pasting).

It looks like this, typed right into the email, but w/ brackets [] instead of () around the IMGs:

(IMG)http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Yooper/name of pix.jpg(/IMG)

OR click the second button from the left under "Change color"...then put the link in between the bracketed words there.

Does that help?

Thanks Yooper; I tried to use the "insert image" button, but it didn't translate over. Huh Not sure what's going on...maybe it's me? Cheesy

Guess we're not the only ones who watch the "breeding bettas" thread and the "fish questions" thread. Wink

LOL...I think the fish threads are one of the few I've NOT seen on this site!  Cheesy  [I just see the posts on the main page.]   Wink  We don't have fish.  Maybe someday.   Grin

DM22--You're talking about the "insert image" button this page when you reply, right?  I don't usually do it that way, but listed it as an option.  Undecided  I usually copy the link (right clicking on it, and selecting "copy") from photobucket and paste it into this reply window.

I'll see if I can do it again...maybe I'm missing a step.   Roll Eyes

OK.  I'm on photobucket.   Cool

If you position your mouse over the desired picture, an options box appears.

Select the IMG code so that it's highlighted, then right click to "copy" or click CTRL C on your keyboard.  Then paste it into your WTM PM message box.  That will put the picture right into the PM, or you could just link it by copying the "Direct Link" in the same option box.

Thanks Yooper. Smiley Is there any other place besides photobucket that I could use? For instance, could I post the pics on my bro's EPK and link from there??

TIA!!

Edith--

At the risk of sounding archaic, what does EPK stand for?

I would think it would work...could I help through a PM somehow?

Hey, you aren't archaic...I don't know either. Cheesy That's just what my bro calls it. It's sort of like a blog for music; the link to it is in my signature if you want to take a look at it.

I'll ask my bro what it stands for and let you know. If you would like to do this through PM, I'd be more than willing.

If an image is hosted anywhere on the internet, you can post it in your PM or in a post.

copy the URL (location) of the photo into your PM/post.  Highlight it and click on the image button (the one that looks like a wall hanging).  If you're one to type the code, then use the following and remove all spaces.

[ IMG ] http://website.com/imagefolder/image247 [ /IMG ]

NOTE:  If the image is already post in a blog or something similar, keep in mind this IS NOT likely the location of the image, but rather the location of the blog, which will not help you.  In this case, you can either, click on the image which should/might take you directly to the page where the image is located or you can right click on the image and select "Copy Image Location" from the menu that pops up and paste that into your PM/post.

One more thing.  If the image or the website where the image resides doesn't belong to you, do not use this method for sharing.  If you do, you'll be stealing bandwith from the person hosting the image.  This can cause their website to crash and it really doesn't make them very happy.  Grin  In a case like this, I would recommend that you copy the image to your own desktop and then upload it to another location or just copy the link location and allow another person to go to the location themselves and either view or copy it themselves.
