I know that there is a thread somewhere about soy free chicken feed recipes. Where is it??? I can't find it. Can someone help me please!

I can't find it either. I have no idea where it went. I think I even posted on that thread?

Anyway, I think that whiterock started it and one of the links was for this place that has feed recipes:

I have found that most of those ingredients are nearly impossible to come by where I am at.

Also, I had posted about a company that makes a soy free laying mix here:

$$$$$ but nice option if you live near them.

I think I'm learning that you can eliminate all the soy and simply feed grains, cracked or whole, with or without supplements (the list of possible supplements is miles long) and you will have nice healthy chickens.

If they're layers, you will not get an-egg-a-day kind of production unless your feed is around 16% protein. This is hard to achieve without soy, hence soy based feed.

I do mostly grains, (oats, corn, barley, wheat), then some premade pellets when we have no money for gas to get the grains, then organic grains when there's money, and sprouted grains when I remember and lots of veggie scraps, raw milk yogurt, flax, hard-boiled eggs, they love my dog's food, black oil sunflower seeds, calcium and grit and lots of grass/dirt/woods for scratchin' and runnin' scared.

So far, it's working . . .

I do whole barley, oats, wheat and soak 24 hours then drain and let it sprout and feed it to the chickens plus they get the yard to get all the bugs and grass they want. I buy the grain from a local farmer, he sells it for $6.50 a 50# bag, so it is nice, cheap and totally Nourishing Traditions Cheesy
