Need Help for Nerve Damage

My pastor had a slipped disc that laid him up in the bed for several days. The inflammation caused damage to the nerve that runs down the front of his left leg. When he is sitting still, he feels ok, but if he gets up to move around, he is in constant pain. His leg is very hard to move...very stiff. DH wanted me to find something he could take to help. Is there something that will help repair damaged nerves. I thought I had read something about a few days ago, but now I can't find it.
Any help would be appreciated. He is in a lot of pain.

Your poor pastor! I know that pain has to be excruciating, and he must be miserable. Cry

The first thing that popped into my mind was Omega-3 oils. Do you remember that mining accident a few years ago where a young man, 20-something years old, was the only survivor? Well, I just attended a seminar on Omega-3's and they mentioned that the doctor that treated this young man went against usual protocol and gave this man mega-doses of Omega-3's to help him recover. They feared brain damage b/c his brain was deprived of oxygen for an unknown amount of time. However, he fully recovered, and the docs believe it was due to the powerful Omega-3 oils they gave him. I'm just stating this b/c I believe that O-3's work wonders when it comes to nerve damage and repair. They also are very powerful at alleviating inflammation, which is also part of your pastor's problem, probably.

I also found another article which stated that DMSO can help in this situation, alternating with helicrysum essential oil. There were other things in the article, so I'll definitely post it here:

Thanks for the reply! I mentioned turmeric to them last night because I do think inflammation is probably still a contributing factor to his problem. I will do some research on the omega 3's and mention that to them as well. Thanks again.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is very helpful for nerve damage! I take this on a daily basis -- along with omega 3 -- for both autonomic and central nerve damage.

has anyone used that nerve restore formula?

a friend had a tree fall on his back and it severed the nerves to his legs. Would that work for aiding his body in possible repair of those? Anyone have any other ideas I can give him. I'd hate to see him never able to walk again.
