  Specific Exercises
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:25:14 PM » by Jade
Hey, can we start a thread devoted only to specific exercises? I've done T-Tapp, I've done yoga, I've tried aerobics, etc... but what I've found throughout everything so far, is that I tend to come away with a couple of specific moves that I like, but I can't tolerate certain parts of the workout. So when somebody raves about a particular workout, I try it, can't STAND the 15-minute lunge sequence, but there is one little move that I keep and work into my own routine.

For example, I have tried T-Tapp. I have tried it faithfully. And I don't like it. (Sorry to all the devoted T-Tappers out there!). It's irritating to have to focus SO much on my form all of the time, and I came to the point where I dreaded doing it so much that I quit altogether. Except... for a few moves that I actually liked, either because they were so effective or because they were actually kind of fun.

One that I will most likely keep coming back to is the Pretzel Twist. Here's a link to a video of it that you can download. http://t-tapp.com/try/index.html (Click on the Pretzel Twist link).

I tend to come back to it, because I feel like it makes a difference in my waistline so quickly.

So does anyone else have a specific move that they'd like to share and why they like it? I'm always on the lookout for a good move that really targets the inner thigh area.  Grin

I tend to feel the same way about T-Tapp...we kind of have a love/hate relationship.  One thing I do like though is the hoe-downs.  They are a good aerobic/strengthening exercise and I feel like they really work my body...probably because I'm falling down after I do a full set of them...lol.

I've never seen the Pretzel Twist, but I'll be checking out that link...anything to work on my waistline is good.  Four pregnancies haven't been kind to it  Undecided

If you can't view it, let me know and I'll try to describe it.

Thank you, MommaJo! I just did a round of these, and was VERY impressed. Of course I don't know about the results yet, but I really felt like I was targeting my upper legs! The backs of my thighs were really feeling it! I didn't really feel as much in my inner thigh area, but maybe I wasn't doing them exactly right. I'll have to watch the video again and try them again. If they give me thin thighs of steel, I'll be sure to come back here and rave about them.  Grin

I agree Jade, I didn't really feel it on the inner, either.  I felt it more in the back and I need it there, too, so it's good for me.

If anyone else finds more clips on targeted exercise, please post.

I just saw this after posting something sorta similar...

Have you ever tried Leslie Sansone?  I have found few to none of her moves too hard or too annoying.  She's says you "can't do it wrong".  And I just love that.

Is there any chance that one of you devoted Chicometric ladies wants to describe a specific exercise for me? I looked for videos online but couldn't find anything... and from the descriptions I've found online of the different moves included, I really am curious about the Panty-Jock Line Exercise. I'm trying to hit "that" spot, and if someone wants to describe how to do that particular move, I'd be very grateful.

Or, if someone else knows of a specific exercise to target that little spot right between where the back of the thigh ends and the hip begins, I'd love to hear about it!

Ok..I'll try to describe it.

Stand facing the back of a chair with your hands on the back.  Bring right leg out behind you just a bit.  Imagine your holding a quarter between your butt cheeks and can't drop it.  Keeping your glutes tight, cross your right leg behind your left leg in small, controlled motions...always keeping a hold on that quarter Roll Eyes

Hopefully that will help.  I can really feel this working.  Chico Caldwell does this for like 60-80 reps on each leg.

Clear as mud?Huh?
