idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura ITP

Anyone have good insight into this blood disease. My mom has it, only just discovered as she started bleeding out of eyes/ears/nose, etc. I saw a bit mentioned in a pregnancy thread on WTM, but as she is not pregnant and hasnt been since I was born (30+ years) I figured a place to consolidate info might be good. When she got into the hospital her platelet count was 2. thanks for any info or natural tretment ideas or links ahead of time.

I sent your post to a friend of mine who healed a similar blood disease naturally. It takes a lot of work, but it can be done. They told her the only cure for hers was a bone marrow transplant. Here is what she said:

"I checked out your link, but I'm not registered on that group, so it doesn't look like I can post there. Before I would make any suggestions, I would like to first ask some questions of that person, but if you like you can refer her to my website www.geocities.com/marlakins If they don't want to read my whole site or have to dig around there too much, they can write me personally at this email address. I would be curious what they meant by plts at 2. Did she mean 2K? Are any of her other blood levels off? Did she have a BMB&A, and current drugs prescribed, etc. Also,since this sounds like it's a new thing for them, it would probably be good for that person to understand safe levels and safety "habits" regarding low plts plus what to look out for, etc. They should also brush up on clotting factors and how to monitor oneself regarding how well her body can handle low plts. If she has any other health issues, she needs to also take that into consideration since the liver is closely linked to clotting factors as well as the kidneys are linked to erythropoeitin in case she's having any red cell issues, too. Some people with either kidney or liver problems might end up with plt problems. There are actually quite a few causes including possible links to viruses and/or bacteria. There has been some studies that suggest h.pylori could be a possible cause of ITP. So gut ecology is another area that needs special consideration.

As you know, usually platelets are not a quick fix, and it takes a lot of discipline and patience that many people just don't have.

I am PM'ing you her email address in case you want to write to her directly. She is an amazing wealth of information and can truly be a help if your mom wants to heal herself naturally. But again, it's A LOT of diet work. But the alternative is not really very pretty either.
