  question about colloidal silver
« on: March 21, 2007, 07:44:30 PM » by mattnali
I have what I think is pink eye so I looked over several posts on this site and found several that recommended colloidal silver.  I also tried breastmilk, since I'm currently nursing, but that didn't seem to work for me.  My question on the colloidal silver is that the bottle I bought states "DO NOT USE IN THE EYES" and "IF PREGNANT OR NURSING CONCULT A PHYSICIAN".  So....does anyone know, is it ok to actually put as drops into my eye and has anyone used this stuff before while they were nursing.  I know it's pretty much standard to put that as a warning on all meds but I was just wondering?    Thanks in advance!  I'm so Glad to have discovered this website Cheesy

When I home-delivered my son I used diluted ionic silver from Water Oz (RichDistributing) to clean his eyes. I would not hesitate to use it for my eyes if I were in your position -- it may sting a little if you don't dilute it... This is MY HUMBLE OPINION though.

I have used silver to give it to my young children too --internally and externally.

I don't know a whole lot about c.s., but a friend who makes it says she uses it for pink eye, and my little girl had pink eye this week, so I put a drop in each eye 1-3x/day, and in about 3 days it cleared up!  I also have been putting it in my eyes, and in my baby's eyes too.  My friend had said that she put the drops in while her baby was nursing, and I found this to be an easy way to do it.  So far, neither of us have gotten it from my 2yo., so I think that it either kept us from getting it, or else it cured it before the "pink" showed up. I looked on the bottle label for what I have (Sovereign Silver) and didn't see anything about the eyes or using while preg./nurs., it just said it's intended for ingestion.  The only thing I have wondered about in using it in my baby's eyes is that she seems to have a little "rash" in the corners, maybe from some staying on her skin?  But she is not bothered by it, and there hasn't been anything like this around my 2yo's eyes.

I just called my local GNC.  I'm looking for colloidal silver.
She said they have something called "Silver Biotics" by American Biotech Labs.

Does anyone know if that is Colloidal Silver?  She didn't know.

(Need it for pink eye)

Thank you.  Do you think it's a repuatable company?
The Natures Sunshine brand has 90 micrograms per teaspoon.
The Silver Biotics, I think, has 50.  The lady at GNC, when I called, only saw 50.  She didn't know per what, though.  (And just how did she get that job?  Wink )

No problem.  I'm still just trying to decide which to get.  My problem is the one I've been asking about is only 5 minutes away but I don't know if I can trust the source.  The other is 35 minutes away, more expensive, but tried and true, kwim?

My 2yo ds has pink eye - this will be the third day with no let up using other home remedies.  I went to the natural health food store to buy the colloidial silver and bought "silva solution advanced liquid silver".  When I got home and was about to open the box, it dawned on me that it says silver but not colloidial silver.

Are they the same?  It does not list pink eye as anything that would be healed by this product, just says its an immune system activator for colds and flu. DUH!!  I must have bought the wrong thing!  It has a whole bunch of other active ingredients that I have never heard of before.

Would you use it in your little one's eye?

Not if I didn't know what the ingredients are or what they do!  Can you return it?
Have you tried using br**stmilk?

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that colloidal silver can be dangerous, because it's a heavy metal that can accumulate over time and essentially harm you.  I'm thinking it can turn your skin blue, and maybe poison you, but it's been a while since I read this, so I'm not sure.

Have any of you heard this??  Is it true colloidal silver can be dangerous, or is this just a scare tactic?

Thanks!

See this thread and read Gabe's second post. The turning blue issue has to do with using a lipid base rather than a water base when it's made. You can find more info if you google it too...

http://www.silvermedicine.org/argyria.html

This site mentions the misuse of silver solutions by Stan Jones and Paul K.  Neither followed an acceptable protocol for using silver as a medicine.  Stan Jones agrees with this assessment, and he is still a supporter of colloidal silver - when made and used appropriately.

AND, I read in a health newsletter a while back about a man in India, I think, who had turned blue/gray from eating silver candy balls every day on his favorite pastry, for months and months.

Someone else just posted this article on another thread and she says to use it.  It is talking about overall yeast overgrowth, not necessarily yeast infection in general.  But the colloidal silver part is down under treatments #3.

http://www.chetday.com/candida.html

For what it is worth, I used (plain) Bio-K yogurt (liquid, not the capsule form) from the health food store topically for only 3 days and the yeast infection was gone.  I never had an over the counter medicine work that fast.  I only put it on at night before I went to bed.  It is kind of pricey, but when I compared it to the over the counter medicine, it actually was cheaper as medicine goes.  It is expensive as yogurt, but I actually love it so much, I have been making my own yogurt out of it (cheaper that way) and putting some in my smoothies every day and have not had another yeast infection since (it's been about 2 months).

I did - I would say it might depend on the seriousness of the infection.  You could by all means do it internally, too.  No reason not to and it might help even faster.  I also ate at least 2 Tbsp. a day before I started making my own yogurt with it.  You could eat more - the lady in the health food store eats a whole bottle every day.  But at almost $5 a bottle here, I couldn't afford it.  A bottle would typically last me 3 days before I started making yogurt with it.  I've been making yogurt with it now for a month and one bottle makes almost 1 gallon of yogurt.  Much more affordable!  I use the soft-sided cooler bag and heating pad method mentioned here.  http://www.welltellme.com/discuss/index.php/topic,1786.msg4406.html#msg4406  It is reply #33.  (I've never tried to copy from another thread before, so I hope that worked).  I do mine for 24 hours, though and keep turning the heating pad back on whenever I remember.

Have you checked out the candida threads?  They're great!  A ton of information there. Smiley

I have used silver for every type of infection for years and never had a problem. It works great for pink eye and is my favorite nasal wash for sinus infections (besides cayenne, of course! Smiley) My FIL has a high-tech colloidal silver maker so I can get gallons of it whenever I want to.
