  Miscarrying?
« on: September 15, 2009, 04:13:09 PM » by Ilyana
I'm seventeen and guessing about five weeks pregnant.  Things have been fine up until yesterday morning when I started experiencing light bleeding without cramps.  This afternoon the bleeding became heavier and I've also passed some blood clots.  Still no cramps.

I haven't been to a doctor yet because of lack of funds, but I'm really worried I'm miscarrying.  Would there be any other reason for the blood, etc.?  Are there any precautions I should take?  Something I should do?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You said you haven't been to a doctor because of lack of funds. Have you tried a teen pregnancy center type thing? Depending on how big of a city you are near, they might even have an ultrasound machine. It might give you peace of mind, at least.  Smiley I will be praying for you!

My midwife had me take lots of Vitamin E when I had spotting with my last pregnancy.

I would check your local hospital...many have free care available through charity funds...they don't advertise, but its there for situations like this...

I am sorry to say, but if you are having clots, then you are more than likely miscarrying.  This is what my midwife told me.  I had some spotting and bleeding early on in this pregnancy and was put on bed rest immediately. I had what looked like clots to me, but was just streaks of blood and tissues. My midwife said there is a difference.  Are you sure they are actually clots? I would try keeping off your feet and see if it helps or slows.

No, I'm not sure they're actually clots.  I checked and the local health department has free care available, so now I have an appointment for 12:45 this afternoon.  Until then I'll keep off my feet and keep praying.

Thank you everyone for you help.

If it helps, the bed rest was hard, but it did its job...I am still pregnant!
I know other ladies who had SCH bleeding and other explained bleeding and didn't have to be on bed , but mine was unexplained, so my midwife said it was safest to stay off my feet until we knew why (never did).

The nurse I saw said the bleeding was more than likely hormonal, and nothing to be concerned about. Smiley

Thanks for the prayers!
