OOHHH!  I like the new layout!!!  I'm getting that same good vibe I get when I've just cleaned the pantry!

Feels organized and sensible.  Love being able to collapse the read topics.   Cool

All right, moderators:  I'm ready for my personalized sign-in jingle!!   Grin

Okay - I've tried this for several days and here's where I'm at.  I almost hate coming here now.  It *feels* disorganized not more organized.   I am almost preferring to go to facebook to "chat" (even health stuff) with other WellTellers because this is so distracting and frustrating to me.

Y'all do know that there is a link at the top right-hand side (beside your profile pic) that you can click to see all the new posts since your last visit, don't you? It's "Show Unread". I've been using it for years. Very easy.  Grin

WR

I've been afraid to click this, thinking it would list all the threads on WTM that I've never read. Wink he he!
But it's just new posts since your last visit.  Good to know.

I was about to type this exact post.... I really do dislike the new format, and find it bulky (sorry, BHS, not a slam btw) and difficult to wade thru.  I was hoping a few days of use might help, but I really just don't like this format.

I like the old home page SO much better, too.  I could just glance over the top of the list to see what I missed.  Now I have to check each specific category.  Much too much of a pain...

Just tried this and nothing came up. Huh  I haven't been on in two days, so I'm sure there are posts I'm missing!  I agree with many others and miss the old format - I much prefer to simply scan the opening page to see what I've missed.

ok - my gut reaction when I came here today (my first experience with the changes) was, "Oooooo!"  I tend to come here most only for health, leaving "chat" for other places and it was nice to see "topic headings" so that I knew were i did (or didn't) want to look.  I also like having the "NOW" topics at the top, 'cause I like to know what things are important to people (it helps me keep up on world news  Roll Eyes)

So, I like it.  it fits my "brain style" - and not much in my life does these days! (Organization? Hah! With 4 littles under 5? Forget about it!)

So yeah... I like it.

This feature isn't working for me either today.  Huh  Nothing is showing up, but I can see that there are new posts that I haven't read on the feed.  Even in threads that I've commented on.

There's another link, on the page that comes up after you click Show Unread, that says All Unread Topics. Try clicking that one.

Hey, WR, does this work for every topic in the forum or only the ones, you have selected to be notified?  I can't really tell by my account, because I have ALL topics selected to be notified.

If I click on "Show Unread" but I don't read/click on all the new posts that come up, then the next time I come to WTM it won't show me those posts (unless I click "All Unread Topics"). So it won't show me everything I haven't read, only the stuff that has been posted since my last visit (unless I click the "All Unread..." link).

So if any of you bring up WTM, then leave and come back, when you click the Show Unread link, it won't show you anything, even though there are unread posts. Could that be what happened? Do any of you have WTM as your homepage maybe? Am I making sense?

I think I get what you're asking, WR, but there didn't seem to be any such explanation for my zero results yesterday.  I just tried it again right now and I got a page full of posts, so perhaps it just wasn't working last night...??  I didn't do anything differently, and didn't go off and then on again, either (which I think is what you're asking).  Anyways, it seems to be working for me now so I'll just keep monitoring it Smiley

It works only sporadically for me.
I don't have WTM as my homepage.  I usually read through anything that I'm interested in at the time, so I'm not leaving them in the que so to speak.  It's just not pulling anything  up, and there is new stuff there (from threads that I've been watching).

Well, I decided to try the "Show Unread" link instead since the front page has changed.  I actually like it (I think better than using the old set up for the front page).  It has worked so far for me without any problems.

It actually helps me save time.  When I come back on and click on that link and there's only a few things listed, I don't read down a long list and start reading about things just because they're there. Wink  Of course it is all good, but I have noticed that times seems to fly by much quicker when I'm on this site!  ('cause I'm having fun?)  Grin  Can I chalk it all up to a better education?  There is always a justification, isn't there.  Cheesy

I am getting used to the collapsing front page topics, but some of the topics/headings are a lot busier than others, and I would like to see more than the top 4-5 latest posts.  Could you hyperlink the topics so I could go to that area and see more?

Just had a thought.   Grin

I'm sorry, I am trying, but I really don't like the new organization. I have no better ideas myself, but there HAS to be a better layout out there. Sorry!

I am SOOO with you on this.  I thought maybe with time I would get used to it, but I hate it.  I've been using the "not read" thingy bobber and it's no better.  It doesn't list every topic I haven't read and I end up having to scroll up and down the page looking to see if I missed something in each category.  Oh please, oh please, go back to the old way.    Undecided

I'll share a secret . . . . A Looong time ago when there were changes to the layout on the home page so that it only showed the first few lines of the most recent posts and only one page of those . . . I VERY MUCH disliked it. . .

Why?
If I was trying to see the most recent posts on a particular thread, it might get shoved too far down the list if it was a busy posting day (especially if someone had posted on it early in that day). On high volume days, the thread I was reading might get shoved so far down that it was no longer visible on the home page. I would end up having to sort through lots and lots of forum trees to locate that thread again if I hadn't bookmarked it.

Sooo I saved the link to the 'recent posts' page that shows ALL of the recent posts in their entirety and up to ten pages worth. I think HB was going to add a button to the layout, but in case that doesn't happen right away, here's the link:

I still think the current setup is WORLD's better than the way it was before. I wasn't a fan of being limited to seeing one page of the threads with the most activity without being able to page through to find what I was following.

Hope that helps.  Smiley
