Cascara Sagrada Bark

Tell me what yall know about Cascara Sagrada Bark.

I did some research on it before and found how it is said to increase the secretions in the digestive tract and also used to treat constipation.

It is said to be a very bitter herb for making tea. So I assume tincturing it would be best.

Does anyone know a safe dosage to take?

I'm a bit leery of taking to much of something that treats constipation for obvious reasons. LOL. The typical herbal alcohol tincture dosages amost always seem to be 15-30 drops but I don't know about strong herbs like Cascara Sagrada Bark. So some suggestions are helpful please.

Taken by itself can have drastic effects, but taken with a good bulk fiber, like psyllium husk can be great. Whenever things are moving slowly, especially right after childbirth, I'll usually take a heaping spoonful of the fiber in some juice with one capsule of cascara sagrada.

Cascara is VERY strong, so I would start out with a lower dose and work your way up til you get the result you want.

The only way I have used it is to move things along when taking something like activated charcoal and bentonite clay. I had some pre- packaged capsules. The dose was 1-2. One was plenty.

Did you know constipation/partial blockage can result in cyclical and explosive diarrhea?

I've heard that before Boysmama I can see how it can be true. It amazes me how God made all these plants for our well being. Now to learn about them all.

I got some intestional cleaning to do.

We have used it many times. We take just one capsule before bed. The next morning, you flush out, but it is not bad or so urgent that there is an accident.
