  Are all leavening agents the same?

I haven't found an answer to this question so if it's already been addressed please point me there!  Cheesy
I would like to learn whether baking powder and baking soda have the same effect as regular yeast when eaten?  I know they're all leavening agents, but do they produce the same "yeast effect" in the body?   Huh

Hi, as fare a I know baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate, baking powder contains cream of tartar and also a drying agent like starch. Yeast is pure yeast bakeriea (lactobacilli), so is sourdough. So, if you are concerned about eating yeast, you will be save with baking soda and powder.

Baking soda is even anti-fungal, so one could say it is the opposite of yeast in that sense.   ~L
