Is this a birth defect or not?

Did you know that if a male child is born without a prepuce (foreskin) - it has happened - then this is listed in the official medical records as a birth defect. I'm not making this up. But if the child does not have this defect, a doctor or mohel will then proceed to inflict it.

How very, very, very odd. Grin

Has anyone ever thought about this?

It is an interesting thought... however, many people have extremely strong feelings regarding this subject. In the past, we have found the topic to circumcise (or not!) can quickly become a very personal and "heated" debate. While we are all entitled to our opinions or beliefs regarding this matter, I think it may be best to avoid potential conflict by locking this thread - We will review, and if the other mods wish it to stay, we will unlock and allow discussion to proceed.

In the meanwhile, if anyone has questions, or would like more information regarding circumcision, the search feature at the top of the page will likely bring up a lot of previous posts.
