low carb & sweating induced rash on breast & torso and surrounding areas
« on: January 24, 2010, 10:05:36 PM » by shainalorraine
Over the past decade whenever I have done a cleanse, or a low carb type lifestyle I have broken out with a strange rash which starts on my breasts and then travels to my back and then up and down my torso.  By the time it gets to my neck I typically freak out and go back to my old diet and it vanishes, one time a Dr. told me it was a staph infection and had me take antibiotics, which in fact cleaned it up.

Alas I am nursing my 9 mo. little boy now and my HH (Hot Husband) and I are going low carb.  Around this time I also started doing an intense Jillian Michael's DVD in which there is a ton of sweating for me.  The next day I had the rash all over my breast area, the following day it made it to my back and now it's traveling in a thicker band down my torso and up my armpits and on my neck today.

These little red bumps are not itchy in any way.  They are small, but some group up and so they can appear considerably larger.  Some of these bumps are like zits with puss in them.  I did some research on this website and feel at a loss as to which direction to go with it.  Since it's not itchy I don't think I'm allergic to my sweat.  Since it's connected to low carb, detox and sweating, I am wondering if I am metabolizing some nasty toxins in my body that by burning fat they are coming out???  I started ingesting raw garlic today . . .and am not afraid to do that. . . but wonder what will help me heal totally.  Thanks!!!!!

Yes, it's probably a detox. Sweating brings it on b/c it's detoxing your system. Low carb brings it on b/c you get yeast/fungus die off. The antibiotics may have helped b/c they allowed the yeast to grow more than b/c it killed any bacteria.

Herbal Mom thank you so much for the links!

I am totally going to up the ante on the garlic and stick with the low-carb way of life!  I wonder what I can put on this rash in the interim?  I don't want it to get out of hand like it has in the past.

I have also been dealing with this terrible constipation since my son was born, after a long labor and discovering he was posterior only during the C-Section.  Total labor was 39 hours with 4 hours of pushing. . .he was crowning.  I also got a hernia around my belly button from the experience.  So the antibiotics from the surgery and then all the pain meds had me SERIOUSLY stopped up, and I needed softeners to go at all.  Then when I went to the bathroom after this it was like passing rocks and I would bleed every time.  9 months from his birth and I still bleed with this tough stool... is it possible that these things are related???  I was taking psyllium husks on a daily basis, but they seemed to make everything more difficult and painful.  So I stopped that. .and REALLY focused on adding good fats. . . .but still I'm stuck.   Huh

I would try charcoal

http://bulkherbstore.blogspot.com/2010/01/herxheimer-reactionthe-dreaded-die-off.html

and/or bentonite clay baths.

http://www.eytonsearth.org/clay-baths.php

I get hives after a chiro adjustment and 'me and chiro' both believe it's toxins being released from the tissues.  Cleansing inside (urinary herbs, charcoal, clay, etc) and out (clay baths) were her suggestion and it helps to get the remnants out.  The baths really work!

If you're this toxic, I would definitely consider doing the Dr. Schulze/Detox + thing.

Thank you HB!

I don't know how much of my body will be covered. . .which is kind of freaky.  Seeing the pictures on the link you posted, I see that you UNDERSTAND! I don't know if your rash got infected, but some of these little rascals are infected like a whitehead.  They aren't particularly painful or itchy.  Mostly just RED!  The redness flares and calms, but I haven't seen any of it clear up, and it's been more than a week now.

After reading your story, I think it would be wise for me to use some Bentonite, since it's so absorbent is it safe to swallow while nursing without adverse effect?  I wouldn't mind taking the baths, but it seems like you have to use a lot more clay. . . Definitely a toxicity thing--I lived in a black mold infested house for most of my life.

I have been intentional about fiber this week, 2/3 cup of ground flax every day with a teaspoon of pysllium at every other meal or so.  I really want to get to the CORE of this.

That's what the experts say.  Will not come through the milk this way.  Be careful not to go too long as it can deplete your vitamins and minerals (5-10 days duration with breaks in between each cleanse).  If you take supplements do it 3 hours prior to ingestion of clay or detox +.

Did you ever get to the place where the clay after the bath doesn't turn black? Would that be the "sign" of truly being cleansed?

I never saw much black at all after the first bath (I think this is only indicative of metals, but not anything else).  I don't know that this means anything really, because the symptoms before and the lack of symptoms after was enough to convince me that it was actually helping.  Also, I found it interesting that brown spots that have been in my eyes for basically my entire life since I can remember disappeared after cleansing with detox+ and the baths.

That is INCREDIBLE!!!  I remember hearing that your eyes can change colors depending on how bad a yeast infection is. . . .

I have a clay here called Desert Dynamin which I bought years ago from our farm's mineral man, he said it's exceptionally detoxifying-- I remember taking a bath years ago and feeling EXHAUSTED.  So part of me is scared of doing it again.  You give me courage!  How many pounds of clay did you use per bath?  What was your protocol like?  Did you do internally for 10 days. . . . then do a bath. ..then wait 4 days. . . .then do it all over again?  I want to start today but don't know how I'll handle DRINKING the clay. . . granted I did a Master Cleanse for 18 days before. . . SWF was NASTY, I doubt clay could be worse?!?

Don't bath for more than 30 minutes or you will feel exhausted.

Read this for the finer details of clay baths.

http://www.eytonsearth.org/clay-baths.php

detox + is easier to drink than straight clay.  the clay swells so fast by itself that it's like eating mud, but with the other stuff mixed in (flax, charcoal, etc) it stays sediment for a few minutes in the liquid.  it will swell if you let it sit, but even then it's more the consistency of a thick milk shake than mud. as far as taste goes, it tastes like dirt.  no bitter, no sour, no real flavor at all.  in fruit juice it's almost unnoticeable.  in water, it tastes more like dirt (from outside, not potting soil).

So I ordered all the supplies and have mixed the Dr. Schultz brew like the Detox +.  I am a bit anxious to start, but I figure it can't hurt anything.  Since I got this rash I relaxed on exercise, so the rash is in a remission type state. . . . will it potentially flare up from taking this?  It seems like this stuff is going to pull everything to my gut for it's exit.  Has anyone experienced a flare up while taking this kind of detox?  I just want to be "ready for anything".  Thanks!

The Detox+ is probably the only cleanse I've seen that doesn't induce lots of die off and detoxing reactions. Keep it moving through....  Wink Hope it goes well for you.

The only time I've seen 'die-off' symptoms is if the bowels aren't moving easily and often.  boysmama is right, lots of water (16 oz with each dose) and plenty of fiber.

Is it possible to over do water???  I already drink a gallon a day.  This will bring me to almost two a day.  I started yesterday and again today and have been taking magnesium to keep things moving along.  Does Mucoid Plaque exist or is it more of a fad thing that develops as a response to taking the different concoctions on the market?  What did you experience???

Judging from your pic in your avatar 2 gals a day might be too much water. Too much water will flush out too many of the water soluble vits, electrolytes, etc. Large amounts of water can cause what's called water intoxication (click on link for info) 2 gals in one day probably isn't going to bother you but on a reg basis might be too much.

The formula for amount of water you need per day is 1 ounce per kilo (2.2 pounds) of body weight plus extra if very active, in hot weather, while exercising, while detoxing, etc. The easy way to figure is to take your body weight in pounds, divide in half & that number is you baseline for the water in ounces you need per day.

HB in her post on BHS that she took it the Detox+ 5 times per day along with 16oz of water each time. That would be 2 1/2 quarts of water taken with the Detox+ & at the gal a day you drink now that would still be an additional 1 1/2 quarts of water a day. IMO I could see maybe upping that a little while on the Detox+ but not upping it by a full gallon.

As far as stinking, that is a normal reaction to detoxing. It shows it's working- your body is getting rid of toxins through the skin.

One more question on water. . .

70 oz for body weight of 140
80 oz for detox
___ oz for nursing a 10 month old (he doesn't eat anything else!)

How do you figure out how much water needed for nursing??

I have been drinking a gallon a day of water for a year and a half by the counsel of my nutritionist.  Thanks!  Smiley

i think a gallon is enough.  just monitor by your milk production and your bowel movements.  the average person doesn't drink this much water and so it's very important to let those people know that water is very important when taking clay and charcoal.

Mucoid plaque does exist. I have that second hand from some people I trust were telling the truth.  Wink Not nearly everyone I've worked with though experiences that, especially if they've been eating whole foods or alot of legumes. Whole foods and cultured and sprouted foods and good nutrition also reduce the possibility of large parasites....but anything is possible. I don't want to give you false assurance that there will be no surprises.

I really upped the ante on legumes a couple years ago when I saw a nutritionist. . . and had fantastic results health-wise, it cleared up an estrogen dominance problem I was having, ie: no more spotting with my menstrual flow, which is quite the feat as I bled half the month.  We got pregnant a few months later and affectionately nicknamed our son "Beanie Baby"

Still a little nervous. . . Better out than in!!!!!

HB- did your weight fluctuate while doing this cleanse?  I am gaining. . . but I think I'm just full of it!  =)  I find that I get pretty bloated with all the fiber, the magnesium has been working some, but I generally feel tired

I wonder though if the pectin is sweet enough to keep my body in a fat storage state?

I am going to do this first cleanse strong until Wednesday.  That will be 10 days with 5 doses a day.  I'm contemplating when to start sweating again to test the detox effects.  Any suggestions?
