snotty nose and raspy chest in 4 mo. old

My 4 mo. old has been battling a cold for some time now. In fact, he's pretty much had it since he was 2 weeks old. He'll get better than a couple days later, he'll get it again. We are both tired of it. He has green snot and a rattling chest. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Possible remedies for an infant:
First nurse frequently or if bottle fed make sure they get plenty of fluids. If breast fed, have mom boost herself with B vits, vit C, Zinc, vit D3 and cod liver oil, and possibly garlic, onions and other herbals.
If it is sunny where you are put the baby by sunny window for 10-20 minutes at a time. Keep them warm, and shade the eyes of course...
Ways to apply garlic poultices and and recipes, tips and tricks----for a baby I might do on chest, right below jaw and ear, on bottoms of feet. oil his skin first to prevent burn..
or use fresh GOOT neck and throat, chest and back, armpits and bottoms of feet. Check each batch on the inside of your arm to make sure it's not strong enough to burn. I would probably make it half strength and use it over more of the body. Don't want to burn the little guy. Use at least 4x a day at least 2 days beyond when he gets better.
Eucalyptus oil, rosemary, oregano, bee balm, mullien, or Rabbit Tobacco in a steam tent or humidifier.
Sea salt or epsom salt baths once per day.
Chamomile, yarrow, and elder flower and maybe mint in a weak tea. I personally try to stay away from tinctures and oral dosing of herbs under i yr of age, but those herbs are all generally recognized as safe for most infants.
My mom used to use mustard and spice plasters on little ones, but not quite as young as 4 months unless she was desperate. Onion poultices might be a little more gentle.
Unkers, vicks, or a more natural version might also be an option. Rub over the chest and back. Do not apply heat, but prevent chilling for at least 6 hrs.

They are tiny dissolvable tablets that you give in a spoon of water or allow to dissolve in the mouth every 15 minutes until symptoms subside. We usually only need to give maybe 2 doses to get enough relief to sleep/rest.

If you're nursing, I would start looking at your diet and pulling dairy. Dairy allergies are notorious for causing stuffiness, etc. A dairy allergy this bad would also cause a low enough immune system to not be able to fight off colds, etc.

I like the Hyland's suggestion for relief. But for fixing, I would reccomend you remove ALL dairy and see how he does. It takes approximately 30 days to clear his system so you won't see symptom improvement for a few weeks. It should get a little better each day he has no dairy. See how things are along the way. But you'll know if it's dairy within a few weeks at least.
