I would really like to see an article from beeyoutiful on taking bovine colostrum.  For a week after looking at the Pregnancy pack I thought that their colostrum factor was something that you were supposed to take starting a little before you had a baby to boost your own colostrum's integrity.  I even had a whole conversation where my friend said, 'do you mean it's actual colostrum from an animal or person or something?'  "Oh noooooo!  No, no no, I'm sure it's something to take to better your own colostrum!' Yea, well it certainly wasn't the first time I've been wrong.  But I just don't seem to get it.  I don't know why exactly, but taking bovine colostrum just strikes me as an ODD thing to do.  And as a general rule I'm down with the granola ways of doing things; cleanses, herbs, most of makes good sense to me.  But this, I . . .

While we are suggesting subjects for articles, I'd like to suggest an article on figs. I love figs but don't know much about their nutritional/medicinal properties. But then, I guess I could do a google search or something.

I would also like to suggest to Beeyoutiful that they change the Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) to vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) in Bone Ami. I just read this....

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 84, No. 4, 694-697, October 2006
© 2006 American Society for Nutrition

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COMMENTARY

The case against ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) as a vitamin supplement1,2
Lisa A Houghton and Reinhold Vieth
1 From the School of Nutrition and Dietetics, Acadia University, Wolfville, Canada (LAH); the Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada (RV); and the Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada (RV)

Supplemental vitamin D is available in 2 distinct forms: ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Pharmacopoeias have officially regarded these 2 forms as equivalent and interchangeable, yet this presumption of equivalence is based on studies of rickets prevention in infants conducted 70 y ago. The emergence of 25-hydroxyvitamin D as a measure of vitamin D status provides an objective, quantitative measure of the biological response to vitamin D administration. As a result, vitamin D3 has proven to be the more potent form of vitamin D in all primate species, including humans. Despite an emerging body of evidence suggesting several plausible explanations for the greater bioefficacy of vitamin D3, the form of vitamin D used in major preparations of prescriptions in North America is vitamin D2. The case that vitamin D2 should no longer be considered equivalent to vitamin D3 is based on differences in their efficacy at raising serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, diminished binding of vitamin D2 metabolites to vitamin D binding protein in plasma, and a nonphysiologic metabolism and shorter shelf life of vitamin D2. Vitamin D2, or ergocalciferol, should not be regarded as a nutrient suitable for supplementation or fortification.

I was wondering if there's a way to click on a members name and see ALL of their posts.. Perhaps it could be catagorized by thread.. I ask becuase I'm reading the prayer request thread, and it's so hard to follow someones story to find out what had happened.. I know I can see their last posts.. but to follow all that belonged to a paticular thread.. I guess it might not be that necessary, except some threads get Soooooo long!

This option is already available.  Click on the person's Id.  Then once inside their profile, scroll down to the bottom and click on "See the Last Posts of this Person".  This will show you all of this person's posts in reverse order from newest to oldest.

Seconding the motions to:
Have $1-$2 size samples from beeyoutiful
Also would like to see Bone Ami without the xylitol (just read that is a no no on the makers diet) and without the vit D.  We live in the SUNSHINE so we'd like it without, pretty please!!
Is it spring yet?Huh  Is the Super kid coming out soon??

Would it be possible to search out specific info within a thread? For example, yesterday I had a question about candida. It would have been nice to be able to go to the yeast thread, type steroids into the search bar and know quickly if my question had already been asked without scanning through pages of info. That's all. Grin
Okay, I see that if you search within just that area of the site it greatly narrows down the results, so how about if you could click on the actual post and be taken to the exact location of the word searched for. I'm just so lazy I guess!  Tongue

Open the thread you are interested in. Use your curser to select "Edit" at the upper left hand of your screen. Then select "Find in this page." Type the word or phrase you want to find and then click "Find." It will take you to each instance of your search. Click "next" to continue searching. On threads with more than one page, select the next page and continue searching using this feature. HTH

where's the "edit" button? I really don't see it on my screen...  Huh

Would there be a way to click and read all the replies to someone's question on a thread.  Some of the threads are so long that it takes forever to read thru the thread to find the answer.  Can you add a "read replies" down at the bottom with the "reply" and "reply with quote" to click, and all the replies to that question will pop up?

I have a suggestion for the Buy/Sell/Trade thread.

When you click on "show replies" and that thread comes up, is there anyway to have a category listed next to it that shows "books", "clothes" or whatever the category of the thing listed so that you can see if it might be something you need without having to go directly to that thread. Like, maybe as an icon in the left icons column, or as text under the title. It would have to be kind of like a poll option for people posting replies to that thread so they could choose which category their item belongs in when they post.

I second the suggestions to have a way to "bookmark" our favorite threads (other boards have a "subscribe to thread" button and it keeps a running list for you) AND also a "buddies/friends" list to keep track of our fav. pen pals

also...
I belong to a few other forums that have a search button at the top of each forum and thread, so all you have to do is click on "search this forum" or "search this thread".  i can send a screenshot if you like  =)  i probably didnt explain it very well  LOL.  anyway, this way would be MUCH easier for those of us on dial up ... the advanced search option is great, but i have to wait....and wait....and wait.....you get the picture.
Thanks everyone and GREAT JOB... I LOVE THIS BOARD =)

You have this option already.  In each thread, you can click on "Notify of Replies" or if you prefer, you can go to the folder of interest and do the same thing.  This will send notifications to your email address whenever replies are made to the thread, or for folders on "watch" new topics that are started will generate an email notification as well.  To delete these, you can duplicate the action, or you can go into your profile and view the list under "Notifications & Email" to delete all you select.

To search a forum, you need only to navigate to the forum and use the search bar at the top, or you can click on "Advanced Search" where you are given the ability to pick and choose which forums to search.

SC's wish list:
  • Ability to subscribe to specific boards so we don't have to look at boards which we have no interest.
  • Ability to subscribe to (receive notifications) when specific members post.
  • Ability to subscribe to (receive notifications) when types of membership make posts (i.e. hero members, acclimated, newbie, etc.)
  • Parental controls for youth members.

Is it possible to put a "Home" button at the bottom of the page?  By the time I get down to the bottom of a thread, I have to scroll all the way to the top to click "Home".  I know I could press the back button, but I'd still have to refresh my home page.  Perhaps there is a way to do this already - I'd be delighted if someone could show me.  I'm not as computer savvy as dh! I agree that this would be a helpful feature to add to all pages. A 'return to the top' button.

I think this is a good thing to have; however, in the meantime, for those of you who have Firefox, I have a work around.  Grin

If you use IE --> sorry can't help there.

Go to the home page of WTM.  Then click on Bookmarks >> Bookmark This Page.

You will see a gray box with Name: and Create in:

Delete everything from the Name: box (it should be empty).

You should see two drop down arrows to the right of the Create in: box.  Click on the one to the furthest right.

Now you've expanded all of your bookmark folders.  Scroll down until you find the folder named "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder".  Click on it and click on OK.

Now look up at your toolbar on your web browser.  You should see a white piece of paper icon with no other identifying marks.  It should appear below your regular toolbar which includes the URL address bar, your home, back and forward buttons, etc.

If you cannot see it, click on View >> Toolbars.  In this list there should be an option for Bookmarks Toolbar.  If this option is not checked, then click on it and your new toolbar should appear.

If you see the white piece of paper, click on it and it should refresh itself to the WTM logo.

Voila, a shortcut always visible for WTM home page.  Grin

PS  You can do this with any favorite website.  You can even add subfolders to this toolbar.  Mine has one folder for each family member so they can keep their top fav's in the folder right on the toolbar.  Grin

ADDED:  If this isn't enough to help you, try this thread.  It's for using the toolbar as well and it has pictures for those of you who are visual learners. Grin

Another way to get to the top of the page without having to scroll is just to hit the "home" button on your keyboard (currently using IE, not sure about Firefox, but I don't see why it wouldn't work). I'd love a top of the page or home button too though someday. Smiley

I've been wondering if there was a thread like this but haven't gotten around to looking for it....

It would be nice to have something, in the sidebar maybe, that would list all the resources recommended in a thread. So, all the links that people mention could be set to automatically show up there. If someone recommended a book or something else, they could type it in. That way, if, say, its time for me to decide on whether to vaccinate or not, I don't have to plow through all 10 pages of conversations about vaccinating, not to mention the other threads on vaccination, instead I could read up on vaccines from the links first, and then review people's comments if I need to know more personal information. It would prevent some of the repeat questions from people who don't read the whole thread first, and for me, personally, would help me to learn about new topics more quickly and efficiently. Does that make sense?

i am wondering..................when i am going through unread messages or replies, to mark off certain ones or the first page full or something, so that if i get through a couple pages and get interrupted, then i can't remember where i was and have to start over.  or maybe have the ability to opt out of having certain threads show up in unread, so not to have to scan through them.  is anything like this possible?

I was wondering if there is a way to "tag" a topic for later reading.  When I'm searching through threads I find topics here and there I would like to read but then I end up with 7 open tabs, no time to read them all and I lose my original focus.  Sort of a "favorites" for threads on WTM?  Am I missing this feature?

I think it would be neat to have t-shirts, especially for the babies that are WTM babies? One that says "I'm a WellTellMe Baby!"

"I'm a WellTeller" for Mom's?

I understand that the overhead of pre-ordering, stocking and distributing things like that can be up-front spendy.  But, a variation on you idea could be purchasable, WellTellMe C.E.O. (?!?) approved, downloadable layouts for iron on transfers.

Someone with some layout skill and/or experience with this sort of thing could submit their design for use in the WTM store.  Then folks like those of us who are so painfully honest that we just couldn't do this thing w/o Gabe's business getting some credit could download the image(s).  They could be printed on things like this:

Iron-on Transfer sheets for the printer at Amazon

and follow the directions on the package or goto wikiHow for directions.
