I am so thrilled to be able to report that Noelle Faith Tallent was born at home in a beautiful although intense water homebirth at 1:01 AM May 7th.  She is absolutely beautiful even for a new born.  Although, I gotta say we are pretty biased.   Wink

Thank you so much for those of you who have been praying for us!!! It was needed and very much appreciated.   Smiley

I was afraid that with her being two weeks overdue she would be HUGE!  Shocked But she weighed in at a nice moderate 7 lbs 7 oz and 20 inches long.

EDIT to add pictures.  Grin

Here she is an hour or so old all professionally bundled up by the midwife.

I have never been around very many un medicated birth babies so was pretty amazed at how alert she was from the moment she was born.  This is picture was taken minutes after her birth.

Baby Cody arrived today at 3 am!  It was a wonderful home/waterbirth and his brothers and sisters were there and so excited to welcome him home.  It was beautiful and the first labor that I really felt like I didn't spend much time feeling panicky.  I was pretty relaxed up until it was time to push and I only had to push for 4 minutes so that wasn't too bad.  He is beautiful and healthy - looks just like his brothers.  I love to see the tender side in all my kids as they spend time cuddling and loving him.  It was a really great birth but I am so tired now and I'm going to bed. This is the mass email Mexmarr sent to everyone on her email list. She told me to let you all know that she will be posting more on WTM about the birth after she's home.

"Dear Family and Friends,

We are pleased to announce the birth of Elizabeth! She was born on Friday, May 25th at 2:47 pm. She was born strong and healthy with no problems. She weighed 5 lbs and 8 oz, and is 19 inches. And she has a headful of dark hair! She started nursing within about 10 minutes, and continued doing it well for over an hour. She knew just what she wanted because she put up a fuss when she had to stop a few seconds to change sides. She has continued to do well throughout the night, and has been able to stay with us. We are so grateful that there was no NICU visit for Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was born after a fairly short but pretty difficult labor. We expected it to be quite longer. I had just been checked and was 4 centimeter. Just a bit later, there she was. That really sent the nurses scrambling, and no time to call the doctor, as she was out with just half a push. =)

I am pretty sore and quite exhausted, but very happy. What a pleasure to hold Elizabeth in my arms after so many months of waiting. i want to thank all of you for the many prayers that went up on our behalf. I know that it was only the grace of God that kept her in long enough for her to be fully developed and so healthy. And it was also His grace that got our family through the 3 months of bedrest and the six weeks of seperation while I was in the hospital. We are looking forward to leaving that behind us. We are hoping to be home tonight."

Okay, so I'm a little late compared to all you other new moms, but I still want to share! Eliahna Pearl was born June 9, 2007 @3:04am, 7lb 4oz.

I was so excited/ready to have her that I tried castor oil for the first time. I read that if your body is ready, it works, and if not, it won't. I knew I was dilated a couple cm though I hadn't had any contractions. I took 1/2 tsp at 8:30 and waited two hours. Then I took 1 T and went to bed praying. I woke up at 2am with medium contractions and seriously debated whether it was just bowel pains. I woke up my DH and we walked down the driveway and back. I called the midwife at 2:30 and told her to come, though I still thought it was false labor. My DH and I looked at each and said, 'Well I guess we'd better get the birth supplies out.'  Undecided As we did, labor progressed at the speed of light, with water breakage 15 minutes later and our baby girl coming out with just a couple pushes. Shocked (I tried relaxing and not pushing, but when the head is there waiting, I thought it was silly not to.) Anyway, my 1st labor was 24hr, last time was 7, this was 1. The midwife did not arrive until an hour later, so we did the whole afterbirth, cord cutting, clean up etc. I cannot describe how thrilled I was. I really wanted an unassisted HB, but DH was NOT comfortable with that. Now he's just pleased as punch!!! Everyone is great, baby is great, and you couldn't wipe the smile off our faces if you tried!  Grin

Hi everyone!  Erin here.  Thanks for all the congrats.  Didn't my hubby do well with the details  Cheesy - he couldn't post the name as we took a day to decide it.
So ...
Timothy Theodore James Parkinson was born at 1.10am, 13th June after a 2 hour labour.  That was actually much longer than we were expecting - it was the second longest labour out of the four children!!  #1 was 4.5hrs, #2 was 1hr40, #3 was 47mins so we were expecting #4 to arrive in half the time again.  Thankfully he didn't (although I wasn't very thankful at the time... two hours didn't seem that short DURING the labour!) and we made it to the birth centre.  We only made it with 12 minutes to spare though - all my fault.  Contractions started at 11.09pm and after the second one Chris started saying we needed to go but I disagreed.  The contractions were a bit painful and 20 seconds long but so much less intense than the contractions with my #3 that I thought we had plenty of time.  I was right...kind of... we had MORE time but if I'd listened to my DH I would have actually been able to enjoy a waterbirth and wouldn't have had such a miserable drive in the car in full labour!
I was only in the birthing room for 12 minutes before Timothy made his arrival and my wonderful DH remembered just as the head was crowning that I really wanted to see this birth so the midwife grabbed a mirror and I saw his head and then the rest of him arrive.  I got to cut the cord too Smiley  Because all my births have been on my hands and knees I've never seen anything happening at all and the cord has always been cut before I've had the energy to turn around to see it all.  So getting to watch was an awesome experience.
Recovery has been amazing - I haven't really felt sore down there at all and I'm no more tired than I was during pregnancy.  Baby is feeding fine and everything is great.
So thankyou everyone for your congrats and prayers - I was going a little stir-crazy last week with not sleeping and just end-of-pregnancy blues.  I am SO pleased he is out!!

It's a girl!

Rebecca Katriel (she will go by Katriel, following my Mom and I in going by our middle names).  6 lb. 6oz.  20 1/4 inches long.  Born June 7 at 11:55 am.

This was a 6 hour labor ladies . . . so nobody has to get too jealous!  But I thought it went really well.  Pushing was only 15 minutes, and that thrilled me since I think pushing is the worst part!  We did a water birth, and that was just wonderful!  I'll certainly do that again!

We're both doing pretty well, all things considered.  I had a pretty major hemorrhage (7 1/2 cups estimate) so I've been staying down alot, and feeling quite weak.  That's why I'm so late in posting this, our computer is out in our office, in the detached garage, I didn't feel up to coming out here till now!

If you all want to check out the prayer requests thread, I'll be posting there about Katri's struggles with nursing.  She's doing great otherwise tho!

Congrats to all of the other new Mamas out there!

At 4 weeks post partum, I'm still taking chlorophyll . . . when my midwife checked my hematocrit (?? I think that's what it's called) almost a week after the birth, mine was between 10 and 11, which amazed her since I think 12 is considered normal, and most women are below that . . . she said that the chlorophyll must be making a huge difference for my level to have been that high so soon.

I could sure tell if I forgot to take it . . . I'd start to feel like a jellyfish!  It was what kept me going those first few days!  I think I must be getting close to normal now, as I can miss a day (and I'm 'only' taking 1/4 cup a day now) and I can't really tell much difference.  I was taking a whole cup of chlorophyll every day for the first three/four days, spreading it out over the day.

For those of you unfamiliar with chlorophyll, it's a great energy booster, and I'd recommend it for the last weeks of pregnancy and the first weeks post partum (even with normal blood loss).  The usual dose is 1 tablespoon a day, and it gives a good boost!

I owe a WHOLE lot to Red Raspberry Leaf Tea!  I started drinking it as soon as I found out I was able to while pregnant.  But that isn't the part you all want to hear, is it?

About two weeks ago, I was up for three hours in the middle of the night counting contractions and waiting for them to get intense enough to wake Josh over.  It never happened.  This past Monday, at my OB visit, he swiped my membranes and then sent me to get another non-stress test done.  By the time I got home, about 1pm-ish, I wasn't feeling so good, so Ruth and I took our normal afternoon naps.  However, my nap was frequently interrupted with rhythmic, timeable cramping.  But it never got closer than 4 minutes apart and 30 seconds long, so I went to my cleaning job (just cleaning toilets, and sweeping).  The cramping was still there, however, it was easily ignored while doing other things.

This cramping went from 1pm-ish to 8:30, and then just stopped altogether.  So Josh, Ruth and I went to bed about 10pm.  At 10:30, there was a lot of jostling in my tummy (found out a couple hours later it was God turning Shalom from a head up position to head down), and then pains that made it hard to breathe.  I woke Josh up telling him it was time to call the people watching Ruth (it would take them 20 minutes to get here).

We left the house at 11 pm, got to the hospital at 11:30.  The contractions hurt, and I wasn't sure I could go without meds (the hot tub was in use - the girl using it arrived two hours before I did, and didn't have her baby until later in the afternoon), and I was asking Josh if I could have something - not an epidural, just something.  My man of wisdom reminded me that I didn't want to use meds, and talked me through each contraction, reminding me to concentrate on my breathing, etc.

At 1am, my water broke (gushed, came crashing out, etc.) and a nurse came to check me.  She said I was at 9cm and I almost cried - last time it took me 2 HOURS to get from 9 to 10.  I told her I had to push, and she surprised us by saying go ahead.  She kept her hand in while I pushed, and announced when I was done that I was at 10.  However, they had to get the OB out of bed...so I spent the next 25 minutes pushing randomly - whenever I REALLY needed to.  The doc showed up, got his gown on, and sat down...one push later out popped a head - face down!!! - and the next push brought out Shalom's body.

As for the RRT, I am healing SO well!  I don't hurt like I did last time!  Plus, in all, the "real work" only took 3 hours...With Ruth it was 8 1/2 hours...

Anyway, Josh has said he would write up his side of the birth on our blog tonight...so check it out in the next couple days to see what he had to say.
