I would like to restrict this thread to discussing ongoing weightloss goals/progress.  If you would like to find out what method might be best for you, we probably want to post that in a different thread, so that this thread will stay on goal.

Sooo I am asking Cheesy:

What do you use?  Huh

Videos, books, dvds, programs, diets, breathing exercises, aerobics, tapping, rebounding, jogging, walking, swimming, etc etc etc

Which is your favorite? Cool
   and (drumroll) Roll Eyes
What has it done for you? Shocked

Thanks for all the sharing, hints, and helping  Wink

I have for several yrs tried to to the low carb. Really works for me but lately I have bought whole grain and bake my own bread, tortillias, pasta so I know that isn't so bad and I can't resist it so I try to just not over do it.  We are doing absolutely no sugar in the house b/c of my son.  When I bake goodies I do the 100% ww and sugar for sweetner.  Since I partnered up with seeker I have been doing much better on my exercise.  I do my breathing.....that is probably my favorite, it really makes me feel good, gives me lots of energy b/c of all that oxygen and it produces quick results in the measurement/how my clothes fit department.  I also do some walk away the pounds right now I mostly do her walk and kick and I have a core ball.  I rotate those around.  I do have pilates and taebo.  I never do taebo it hurts my knees but I do the piliates now and then.  As far as kiddies and I know some people don't like certain workout videos but my 5 yr old daughter like the taebo workouts.  I think it does help her with coordination and she does get some exercise while doing it and it is really cute to watch.  Grin  She also likes the pilates and does her own version of it.  Smiley  And they just run round and round and round the back yard.  My husband bought a weight bench and my boys 10 and 7 lift weights.   Thats' us.   Wink

My kids worked out with me to the Walk away the Pounds 3 mile walk while we were in Seattle this past winter. It rained 29 out of 31 days one month! They also really have fun on cold or rainy days when I turned on TaeBo. The people are semi-modestly dressed...especially compared to my Firm routines! These are both good workouts for you and fun for dd! As far my experience with these I dont usually get sore or hurt if I make sure to use correct form, but it is best to give it a try and see if you can handle the workout. Hope that helps!

Don't feel dumb.  Grin  It does sound weird. If I didn't do it myself I wouldn't believe and I never would have bought something that said it works.  My friend gave the tapes.   Wink  I think SC described it somewhere on here but I will try to too.  You exhale all your airthrough your lips like you were blowing out a candle only do it slowly and ALL the way empty our lungs and then inhale through your nose as deeply as you can and then exhale out your mouth and actually push it out.  You will make noise as you push out.  Then you kind of suck in your stomach(you are creating a "vaccum" then you stretch the area you are working on and hold for a count of 8 and then open your mouth.  When you do that it will automatically sound like you are sort of gasping for air.  I know it sounds strange. You do almost need to see it.  Probly if you search body flex it will come up and you can seee if you want to buy it.   The womans name is Stormy something I think.  I have seen her advertise on HSN b/f.  Walk away the pounds is Leslie sansone.  I have seen her dvds at Sports academy and I bought my walk and kick at walmart. It was only 10 bucks.  The thing about the breathing I like is no jumping or anything but it does get your heartrate up and really does increase energy.  Atleast it has for me.  t does say to do it on any empty stomach.  First thing in the morning and then increase later on to once b/f dinner but I have never been able to do that. Too much going on at that hour. IF I don't do my stuff first thing early it doesn't get done.  HTH.

I have used Weigh down workshop in the past.  I lost 50 lb. doing this 10 years ago.  I gained tons of weight with my first baby.  After doing weigh down I got down to a size 5/6.  I kept it off too, even after having 2 more babies.  I had brain surgery 2 years ago and have put on 20lb.  I've tried other things like South Beach diet and some other low carb diets but about 2 weeks ago I started weigh down again.  I have a friend who is familiar with this program and we are accountability partners.  I don't agree with everything the founder of weigh down says( in fact she's pretty far out on some things) but the principles of this diet are right on.  Basically you confess overeating as a sin and don't eat when you're having "head hunger" and eat only when you truly feel hunger then you stop at the first signs of fullness.  All foods are permissible on this plan but just not overindulgence.  Putting weight loss in the realm of the spiritual certainly puts it into a whole different light.  I'm so glad I'm loosing weight again this way because when I run to God to fill me up I always receive a blessing.  I also get out and walk and if the weathers nice I ride my bike but I don't stuff myself and then count on the exercise to take it off. There's also a book called Thin Within that is similar to WeighDown in the technical aspects, but a little more grace and process oriented.

Well, I don't really exercise to lose weight, but to maintian my weight and build more muscle. (I'm still in high school and don't have to shed any "baby" pounds.  Wink)

I don't even exercise on a reglar basis (mostly cuz I don't really like to perspire!  Wink). Once in a great while, I'll go on a long bike ride. Sometimes I do the Windsor Pilates video with my mom (and my 5 yo sis. It's so cute when she tries to imitate it!). I took an internet pilates course at a college and it really helped make me more flexible (when I remembered to do it.  Smiley)

Now I'm taking a self-defense class at the college. Its once a week, and I thought it would be a breeze cuz its onl a 1 credit course. I was soooo wrong! My teacher is a third-degree black belt. And he works us hard! The class is mostly made up of women and he has a real desire to teach us as much as he can in 16 weeks in order to defend ourselves if ever the occasion occurs. After each class I'm sweaty, stinky, tired, and achy. But It is an awesome workout! And it makes me feel a little safer as I walk around on the secular campus. I want a punching bag for Christmas and money for more classes.

I've lost 40 lbs. and acheived a weight i haven't been at since I was 12 (literally) using Suzane Somers, Somersizing.  I barely exercise, have kept the weight off for a year with very little effort.  It's very healthy whole grains, no refined anything, lots of fruits and veggies.  It talks about how you combine your food, what foods to eat at seperate meals, if I tried to explain it would sound more complicated than it is. There is no calorie counting and no measuring.  It takes some intense thinking to decide what to eat in the beginning but now it is just a way of life.. I checked her book out of the library. I've loved it.

Each day, I have a "to-do" list and on that list I have a spot for exercise and water intake.

SO, throughout the day, I jump on my rebounder for 5 minutes at a time and put a slash on my "to-do" list.  Same for water.  By the end of the day, I have rebounded for 30 minutes(in several 5 minute increments) and I have drank my required water.

I used to use The Firm which worked great but took up a lot of time (1 hour) and was really tough.  It always worked to loose the weight though after the babies.
I just switched to T-Tapp  (www.t-tapp.com) and I love it.  It works so quickly and anyone can do it, even when you are pregnant.  It keeps your abs in shape without one push up.  It is a little pricey to get started (around $79 I think) but it was definitely worth it for me.  I reccomend it all the time.

My absolute best weight loss method has been Bill Phillips Body for Life.  If you can get past all the before and after pictures in the book, the principal is excellent.  Aerobic exercise 3 days a week, weights 3 days a week.  I modified it to weights 2 days a week because my weekends are exercise free unless I'm doing it with the whole family.  He advocates 1 protein/1 carb serving 6 times a day.  I can't do that any longer but the will follow the diabetic diet and do the exercise portion.  When I followed his plan before I lost 20+ pounds in 12 weeks and have kept that off for over two years.  Now that hormones are straightened out and it looks like I'm losing again I will be going back to this method.

What is a rebounder? And tell me more about your water intake.  How much do you drink at a time and total for the day?

I've lost almost 30 pounds in the last 7 months doing Fat Flush.  I'm a nursing mommy so I've only done the maintanance phase of this eating plan.  Still lost weight.  It's a very balanced way of eating and emphasizes keeping the liver clean since that's what "flushes" our fat.  I'm currently trying to incorporate  more Nourishing Tradidtions type meals into this same meal plan, along with trying to do a better job of food combining and pH balancing.  This plan is the foundation of my eating and as I learn more from other sources I tweak it a little to get the benefits from the other plans.  This is working well for me.

Along with this I recently started T-Tapp.  I'm happy with the results from both.  I'm down to where I was 4 babies ago.  I still have a ways to go, but I'm getting satisfactory results - again, slowly since I'm nursing - but enough for me to know that I'm on thre right track.

Blessings,
Debbi

A rebounder is a small (about 2 ft across) trampoline. Usually it is recommended that you take your body weight in pounds, divide in half & that is how many ounces of water you should drink each day, more in very hot weather, heavy exercising, etc. HTH~herbalmom

I did the South Beach Diet right before I got pregnant this time and I plan on going back on it to drop the last few pounds and inches after my six weeks c-section recovery is up. I am waiting until then because I want to start exercising, it is just easier for me to do it all together. I had gained 60 lbs with my first and only lost 30 of it. So, almost 4 years later, I finally got fed up with the extra weight and worked the program. I did the initial 2 week start for 4 weeks. In the first 2 weeks I lost 2 inches. I went down one dress size in a month. I stopped craving sweets. I felt pretty good. But, now I am breast feeding so, I may have to up my food intake. I will see how it goes. I am very happy with the SB plan. It teaches portions and healthy choices. You can now buy pre-made meals at the grocery stores also.

My bottom, thighs, and hips are my problem area.  I inherited the 'Snyder saddle bags'!   Angry  I'm currently 4 months pregnant and do nothing as far as exercise (other than romping around with my toddlers).  Do any of you have suggestions for losing fat and toning those areas?  Tips on sticking with a routine would be helpful as well.  I'd really like to keep them under control so I don't have to worry so much about that area after the baby is born.
I live in MI and we've been blessed with a mild winter, but it's still too cold to walk outside.  I do have resistance bands if you have suggestions for those.

Go to t-tapp.com or google t-tapp and then go to the try before you buy section.  Print off the Diva Derrier, and beautiful legs sections.  The diva derrier got my dd into jeans that were too tight in the bum and thighs.  If you pay attention to form, they really work and don't take more than 5-10 min a day!  HTH

I changed my whole way of eating about 6-7 years ago.  I was super slim during and after my last two pregnancies because of it.  In fact, I weighed in at 134lbs the day before I had my 3rd and 4th children which is what I weighed two weeks after I had had my 2nd child.  Prior to this diet I struggled to keep weight off and to have enough energy to do my job as a mum.

Basically, I started eating more raw foods and salads instead of cooked snacks.  I included some raw seeds and nuts and used cold pressed oils and didn't cook with them but used them as dressings on salads and in dips (made my own dips in bulk and froze them).  I cut out dairy and soy and meat.  I now eat some lean meats (the clean meats of the bible), free range eggs, and some raw dairy when available (not too much though).  I juice for my family every morning with mostly vegies I can get on special (I spend extra time on shopping days to hunt around for the bargains and roadside cheaper local produce).  None of us are fat!  We are all healthy.  When I do cook, I grind my own wheat for bread and cookies (not too often though), use wholegrain rice, and avoid foods with chemical additives.  Chemicals have been recently shown to make people fat.

A diet leaning more toward raw foods keeps your liver 'clean' so it can burn calories efficiently when you do exercise, plus it keeps you younger looking  Wink and healthier.

I also walk with my children about 6km a few times a week- great time to discuss the goodness of God with them!  I do a 15minute advanced pilates video which tones all my muscles 2-3 times a week.  The pilates doesn't help me loose weight but is only good for toning that's why I keep up my walking.

I lot of people comment that I eat a lot but can't understand why I'm not fat!  It's truely what you eat...I don't starve myself, just eat those liver friendly food!

Don't eat too many bananas, healthy breads or carbs because they can still make you fat!

I have been doing a low carb diet for 3 days. It has been going great till this morning.  I am actually sick this morning-after I ate my bacon.  I am vomiting and feeling light headed. Is it normal for this? Is this withdrawl symptoms?  Thanks, I am about ready to eat some toast, I hate this, I thought it was going to work, that I was actually going to do this.  Any advice, Thanks for all your wisdom.

You could have a sensitive gallbladder - can't handle the grease and/or you might be experiencing detox (die-off) from overgrowth of candida.  You may want to hold back on the extra greasy foods and see if this helps.  Bacon was always a hard one for me to eat when my gallbladder was unhappy.  Maybe stick with eggs and cottage cheese for a couple of meals.  Maybe some yogurt.  You could try some catnip/raspberry leaf/peppermint tea,  ginger tea or take some probiotics for the nausea and drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.

I've started writing down the foods that I eat everyday (except for weekends).  It helps me not to cheat so much.  I try to eat so that I would not be ashamed if my dh should look at my food journal (he is more health-conscious than I).  I've also started riding my stationary bike first thing in the morning.  Dh says you burn fat better in the mornings before you eat very much.  Another thing that really helps is to eat just a little bit every 2 hours to keep off the cravings.  I'm nursing a 2 month old, so I can't cut calories too much.  But it's working - I lost a pound in about 4 days.  I'd like to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 120 at least.  That means I've got 11 pounds to go.  I've also been trying to make healthier food choices.  I got a grinder to grind my own wheat for bread and have started making my own yogurt.  I don't like kefir very well - too sour for me.  But, I figure yogurt is second best.

Lynn mentioned that she used the Weigh Down Workshop.  I have also used the Weigh Down Workshop with great success.  I do not agree with everything that Gwen Shamblin says but I the basic principle of eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full is right on.  Also looking to God to comfort you and help you instead of going to the refrigerator is a wonderful idea.
I ate whatever I liked when I was doing this...even pumpkin pie for breakfast.  I only ate when hungry and stopped as soon as I felt physically satisfied.  I ended up being 105 pounds.  Less than when i was in highschool.  I weigh more than that now  Grin  Though I am still not overweight.  I have been thinking about listening to her tapes again.
I find that when I restrict myself from certain foods it only increases my desire for them.  I do believe certain foods are better than others.  But being overly focused on food is not always a good thing.

I have been t-tapping for the last 3 months.  I really like the increased energy levels that I have experienced and also the inch loss.  I think that anyone could benefit from learning t-tapp techniques and applying them in a workout of your choice...really seems to take exercise to the next level.  There is lots of info about this available at  www.t-tapp.com
I am currently doing a full workout 3 days a week and a 15 min workout 3 days a week. I take one full day off.
