  miracle salve or eden salve
« on: November 06, 2006, 04:07:47 PM » by Isaacsmama
I am wanting to order some skin salve, and saw that beeyoutiful has the Miracle salve, but also received that flyer from bulkherbstore for the eden salve from shoshanna garden.  So, it sounds like they do the same things.  Anyone have experience with either?  Any opinions on which one to buy?  thanks!

I own both and use both.  They are quite similar in my opinion.  Here's what I've noticed:

Miracle: harder than Eden (must have higher wax to oil ratio)
           More floral scent (essential oils)
           Plastic container with screw lid
More refined look to the packaging

Eden:  Semi-soft to slightly grainy in consistancy
'Weedy' scent according to the kids (smells like plantain to me)
Metal 'tin' with lid, sort of like a lip balm
(My boys prefer this one if given a choice cuz it doesn't smell 'girly')

When using them, I choose Eden for most really sore things (bug bites, cracked/open skin on lips, knuckles, bottoms) and I choose Miracle for things that haven't gotten nasty yet (my really dry hands that threaten to crack but haven't yet, floor burns).  I have only a few months of use with these (got them within days of eachother)  and here in SE MN, the outdoor injury season is generally gone by us - so I'm not an expert on either.

I've not spent much time considering the pros/cons of plastic vs. the 'tin' that might have aluminum in it - That may be a consideration for some folks.

I like them both, but find I use Eden more because it comes out of the tin at MN room temperature better than the firmer Miracle does.

Take my review with salt - I've used them both, like them both and will continue to.  I don't know what I will do when I need to re-order.  I may still get both.  I know my skeptical relatives would be more likely to let me put the Miracle on their bee stings while visiting than the Eden.  Miracle just has a refined 'look' they would expect in a 'medicine'.

My wordy $.02-

I highly recommend Shoshanna gardens eden salve.  I've been meaning to write a recommendation on their site, but haven't gotten to it yet. Embarrassed  My husband had a really great testimonial for the effectiveness of it.  He is prone to getting spider bites and while we were camping a couple of weekends ago realized that something had bitten him.  Sure enough, the red streak starts going up his left arm and he's scratching the area.  Usually when this happens he knows he has cellulitis and goes to the er to get a shot of rocefrin?? This is very painful not to mention expensive.  He told me he was going to try something different this time and starting rubbing the Eden's salve on.  He also took a couple of garlic gelcaps and started a regime of that 3x a day.  He made a little poltice of the eden salve and kept it on there for a few hours.  When he came in from work two mornings later the red streak up his arm was very very faint and by that evening it was totally gone.  I've been smearing eden's salve on all of my nieces and nephews and the rest of my family.  I think it is awesome.

I think there are a few differences:

Eden Salve: (www.shoshannagardens.com)
With a mix of many herbs and natural ingredients I formulated this salve to numb pain as well as heal and soothe with its allantoin properties. It is an astringent, which draws out infection and poisonous bites. It is an antiseptic, and fights bacteria. When you need it, Nature’s Healing touch is there for you!

Here are some things Miracle Salve does: (www.beeyoutiful.com)
moisturize, soothe, promote healing, anitoxidant, astrigent, etc.

I have the Miracle Salve.  I use it for healing and moisturizing.
If I had Eden Salve I would use it for insect bites and healing.

My 18 mo. daughter has a rash on her chin with little sores and also chapped cheeks (we live in a very dry climate).  Nothing has seemed to help so far.  I have tried tea tree oil, goot, and even colloidal silver just in case of an infection.  Nothing.  Also, it is impossible to keep dry, because she drools constantly and...she is a thumb sucker  Sad  The little bumps have started to travel a little up her face too.  Do you all think I should try the Miracle Skin Salve or the Eden Salve?  I have read the reviews, but was wondering if anybody had used either for something of this nature.  Thanks!  Missy

I have these 'slobber rashes' with our littlest ones, too.  And I use both.  Since both products have beeswaxl in them, they seem to make a nice moisture barrier - keep slobber out & normal skin moisture in.    I have had success with both and use them interchangably on this sort of thing.

Missy, I would try finding out why she is so congested. I know you didn't say that she was, but when a little one drools so much that it runs down the chin, congestion is usually the culprit. She is reacting to something in her diet or environment that is causing her to be congested. Sucking her thumb helps her swallow the excess mucus and manage the saliva.

Once you get the congestion under control, the excess drooling will stop and her skin will clear. The acid content in her saliva helps her to digest food. When in extended contact with her skin, it will cause irritation.

Tried and convicted Smiley  She has been congested since about the end of October.  Her eye teeth have also poked through top and bottom.  Another possible cause?  I have tried garlic poultices and a non-organic goot on feet and chest.  But it won't go away...I probably should put this in another thread...but which one...hmmm.  Cheesy

If you're nursing, breast milk will clear it up if you apply it several times daily for a day or two.  (I feel like I've typed that for so many threads!)   Smiley    ~L

that's great! My sister and I (especially my sister) would use breast mik for everything and always suggest it to others for thier random problems so much so that my little niece bumped her toe and asked her mom to squirt milk on it!

I know this old but I thought I would throw in my thoughts. Sorry for any typos  my 9 mos. old is helping me. Wink
I ordered the Eden salve and my SIL ordered the Miracle salve. I like them both. We got hers first and since I am bug candy this summer, I got to test it out. It took the itch away within a few second of applying. Smiley I know that helped clear up my nephew's diaper rash as well. It prevented an infection from a scratch on my niece but took longer to heal one that was already infected.
Again, since I am bug candy, when the Eden salve arrived, I had a chance to use it. It took the itch away immediately as well. It also healed a sore that my son had on his bottom within a diaper change. I hadn't been able to get rid of it with my regular standbys. Hubby applied it to this "stuff" he has on his foot this morning before work, so I will have a report on that later. Smiley He said it made the "stuff" feel better though. He liked the smell too, not too strong.
The Eden salve is firmer in the 90 degree weather, I was expecting the other way around.
So far, we like them both. Smiley I figured sine the skeeters are so bad this year, I would revive this thread.

Has anyone tried either of these on eczema?  My 20 mo. dd and 6 yod are both dealing with it right now.  Very itchy for them, and my 6yod has scratched herself raw in one spot.

I've posted on this page before about Eden's salve and the effectiveness of it on my husband's spider bite.  Well, I have another good report!  My daughter had a wart on her pencil holding finger, right in that important spot and she decided to put Eden salve on it one night before bed.  She put a bandaid on top.  The next morning she said, Mom I put eden salve on my wart and look at it."  It was red and looked like it might fall off.  In a couple of days the wart was totally gone.  So just another good use for Eden salve Smiley
I do need to order the miracle salve and hopefully find many good uses for it also.

I was trying to get the point across to Caleb to be a gentleman to his sisters a few days back. At one point he and Rachel were playing "Battle Ship" together, and Rachel accidental knocked the top cover off her lap board which was a big no-no to winning the game. She hurried to put it up before her younger brother saw her battle ships, and Caleb, with a grin in my direction, assured her kindly "Oh no no, that's OK. Keep it down if you want, I don't mind."

I haven't found much of anything that works yet.... Undecided

Anybody else?

I didn't know I even had muscles in my butt, but I do Roll Eyes  Cheesy. Several weeks back, I worked so hard lifting things that I hurt something back there. The pain wouldn't go away, and I thought I might not be able to go back to work the next day. My mom had just bought some Eden salve, and I asked if I could use some. After I rubbed it on and in as much as possible, I went to bed for some much needed rest with a hot water bottle as close to the spot as possible. I was so pleased with the result the next day! The place was still slightly sore, but no throbbing pain. I continued to apply the salve that day and that night (with another water bottle), and it healed up so quick I was surprised.  Smiley I have ordered my own can of it and know I will deffinitly be glad to have it on hand. It can really help one in a pinch...litterally!  Grin

I just got my Eden Salve in the mail, I am anxious to try it on my little boy's burn. I could smell it when I got the mail, seriously! It really smells like it is fresh, and potent/active herbs!  He has a 2nd/3rd degree burn on 2 fingers  and antibiotic salve has helped, when the Honey/propolis/comfrey salve didnt help as much. Hopefully I can give rave reviews for Eden Salve soon. I also am kinda hoping it helps with scars, because he is going to have a bad one.

It worked!  He has minimal scarring, and lots of pink new skin. The Eden Salve kept it free of infection, and it is healing right up. I kept gauze and Eden Salve on during the day and then let it air out during the night most of the time. We use it on every little scratch and owie just about!

I just got Eden salve last November and it's been a God send for the dry, burning skin that comes with the dry cold winter months.  This stuff is fabulous, but it smells very "Earthy".   Grin

I have my 4 oz of Eden salve almost used. My mom just told me that my brother used Miricle salve for a rash from shaving and it only took one application and it was gone.  I have a mystery rash that has broken out on my eyelids, I suspicion my Psoirasis has spread to my eyes. Shocked  So i did the eyedrops that my doctor told me about. It just got worse and worse.  I started Eden Salve and generously spread it on my eyelids and around my eyes. I think it is getting better, the rash is clearing up even though it still itches. It is amazing stuff.

I use Miracle salve for a moisturizer mostly. Its great on the face, lips and any dry patches. I LOVE this stuff.

I use Eden salve for burns, cuts, bruises and rashes. My baby would get a diaper rash and i would put eden salve on it and it would be gone so fast it was unbelievable. I LOVE eden salve and cant live without it. LOL! It has a pain killer in it so my kids loved when i put medicine on their boo boo's.
