Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis: Causes & Cures

This information came to beeyoutiful.com in an email. Hopefully this lady will join us on the welltellme forums to answer questions about her recipe and experience! Thanks, Lisa!

About a year ago, I noticed the hints of arthritis seemed to be knocking at my
door.  In a wonderful book called Inner Cleansing by Carlson Wade, I found a
remedy that works immediately.  I take it only once every 2-4 months and it's
great.
You are supposed to take this on a completely empty stomach.  The
recommendation is to take it either 4-5 hours after your last meal of the day,
or else 2 hours before your first meal of the day.
Shake (I use an old yeast or baby food bottle) together 2 tablespoons of cod
liver oil with either 2 tablespoons of milk or any fresh-squeezed citrus juice.
I knew I wouldn't be enjoying this, so I opted for lime juice, hoping it would
somewhat drown out the taste of the cod liver oil.  I might have used slightly
more than 2 tablespoons of the juice.  Even so, I had to pinch my nose as I
drank it.
The next day, all hints of pain were gone.
There is a disclaimer on the cod liver oil about Vitamin A overdose, which I
quickly skimmed over and dismissed.  If memory serves, the last time I tried
this, I had been taking a multi-vitamin with Vitamin A, was taking extra
Vitamin A to hasten healing of a stubborn wound, and it seems we ate a lot of
fish that week.
For the next few days the skin around the bottom of my nose, and all around my
mouth peeled constantly, and even with 50 appplications of lotion per day, I was
still a little grisly.
Wouldn't you know it, it happened at a time when we were spending a lot of
time with my husband's family!
But when I wiggled my fingers and realized all hints of pain were gone, I
really didn't care.  Crochet and musical instruments were still mine to enjoy!

Well my grandmother has arthritis and so I started reading on it a little, things that cause it and such. While "they say" they don't know what causes it, there are things that make you more prone to it. Well it kind of scared me because basically if I took a test of physical contributors to arthritis in your life, I'd score a 100 for getting it in my hands, and while I'm still young! because I play piano and guitar, write A LOT both by hand and on the computer, and I broke a wrist when I was little.

Sugar and caffeine aren't supposed to help, and of course, as with all bone and joint related issues, they say stress is a number one factor. (Jesus already said so in Psalms and Proverbs. "A merry heart is health to my bones...") And my mom and I were just talking, we know several, several women with MS, Lupus, Arthritis, and they are almost all women who have a lot of stress in their lives. So I understand the role that having a joyful heart plays.

What I was wondering is, does anyone know of herbs or health reccommendations for arthritis? I want to get stared now! I can't stand the thought of being debilitated even in it's slightest forms. I'm not going to stop doing things (such as music and all) because what's the point of having hands if you can't use them? What good would it be to die with "perfect" hands, but having done nothing with them? You may as well use them up while you can.
Undecided

I'd appreciate any advice or personal experience to keep arthritis away.

Osteoarthritis is an autoimmune disease.  This is a condition where the immune system attacks the body in ways it's not supposed to due to the inability of the immune system to recognize invaders properly.

LGS can be a huge factor in this.  It's been documented that if you can reverse LGS, you can improve arthritis.  CLICK HERE to check the facts on this thread for more info.

Cod Liver Oil is reputed to help repair the damage to the gut lining but also to the ligaments which reduces pain and even reverses the condition depending on how advanced it is.

Lupus and MS fall into the same category as osteoarthritis.  They are both autoimmune diseases that are associated with LGS.

There are certain places in Australia where everyone gets a lot of boron and magnesium naturally in their diets. The occurance of arthritis is almost unheard of there. You can buy both boron and magnesium - and calcium -  in supplement form practically everywhere these days. However, Beeyoutiful's Bone Ami is the only supplement I know of that has all three, in liquid form, all together.

I had arthritis building in my neck, and after just a couple of days of taking Bone Ami, the arthritis disappeared. I doubt drastic results would be noticed in someone that already has severe arthritis, but it could certainly help protect and ensure your young bones to remain strong.

Eating lots of veggies grown right in the dirt of your backyard would help too, as boron is found in the soil.

If you choose to go with Bone Ami - make sure to shake it VERY WELL before use. It is all natural, and the calcium settles at the bottom of the bottle over time.

My mother-in-law has arthritis terribly in her finger joints.  They are so big at times that she cannot even close her hands very far.  She has been looking for a natural remedy to help with this, has cut just about everything out of her diet to see if it is something that she is eating, but nothing has seemed to work.  Some things help a little, but nothing that well.  Any advice?

Bone Ami from Beeyoutiful. I'm starting to use it for my hands, too. Anyways, all the ppl I know who have used it say it works wonders. Beeyoutiful even recommends it for pregnant ladies to take w/ their prenatal for calcium and magnesium boost.

Anyways, I'd def give it a try. They just came out w/ a "better than ever" formula too.  Wink

There seem to be a couple of contributors to arthritis.  The first one is a lack of omega 3 fats in the diet to keep the joints loose, wet and pliable.  For this, I would take some Cod Liver Oil (in capsules or oil).

The other contributor is calcium deposits which are a sign of not absorbing enough of the calcium you ingest.  Taking more calcium might help, but the need for minerals which help to break down and absorb the calcium are needed.  Vit D, Magnesium and B12 are all good supplements in pills or foods to help absorb the calcium so that it doesn't deposit on the joints.

Leaky Gut can be a contributing factor as well.  If the gut leaks then the body will not absorb the vitamins it needs to nourish the body.  Candida and Leaky Gut usually go hand in hand and both should be considered as possible causes.

If she's already on the diet train (that's great), I would add plenty of healthy fats to the regimin.  Butter, cream, flax, and animal and vegetables fats - nothing hydrogenated.

There is also a thread already created with more info on this topic.  Optimal Joint Health.

My mom just recently bought glucosamine chondriten (sp?) at Wal-mart in hopes of strengthening her bones.  She was in the process of ordering some yeast assassin from beeyoutiful.com, so I suggested to her that she try the Bone Ami.  I told her that I appreciate the care for quality in the Beeyoutiful products and the concern about absorbtion of the vitamins as well, and that you just don't find that in Wal-mart vitamins.  Bone Ami also seems to be much more cost effective - 60 day supply for $23 as opposed to the $30 glucosamine.  She ordered a bottle and is going to try it, but I am wondering if the products would do the same thing.  The glucosamine has no calcium in it, which surprised me, but it has been highly recommended by Dr.s, so does anyone know what the difference is, and if Bone Ami is truly a superior product?  (I think it is, I'd just like more evidence to back it up with my Mom!  Smiley

I'll tell you our arthritis experience.   My husband's knees had gotten in such bad shape that he was unable to squat without pain and the first trip down the stairs each morning was not very pleasant.  He also had restless legs at night and had gotten two cortisone shots for tennis elbow (although his was caused from strumming a guitar).  That's when I found Melaleuca and put him on their Replenex.  It is a patented glucosamine supplement that regrows cartilage in the joints.  He could tell a difference in less than two months, and his comment to me a year ago was, "My knees are completely healed."  He hasn't had a cortisone shot since starting the Replenex and hasn't had the restless legs hardly at all either.  Replenex only costs $9.99 for a month's supply.  I also take it daily for arthritis in my hand caused by years of crocheting, not only afghans, but also rag rugs.   I haven't seen anyone who hasn't been helped by the Replenex.  Even my dog took it after being hit by a car.  She's done remarkably well.

That's what's working for us.
Blessings,
Rhonda

Hello,
I usually just lurk here and learn lots from all of you. I have greatly appreciated this web-site and all the information everyone offers here.

My father has osteoarthritis.  He has been taken Osteo Bi-Flex for 4 to 5 years and has had minimal relief.  We have been doing a lot of reading on arthritis.  We keep seeing articles about glucosamine and chondroitin (con-droy-tin) which both are in Osteo Bi-Flex.  In only one book have we seen it mention body weight verses dosage and according to this book he should be taking a higher dosage.  Otherwise we are just reading to take "x" amount on matter what your weight is.  So, our question is does he need to take a hight dose or is there something out there that can do more for him?  My father is a very active man who loves the outdoors.  Any information and or other web-sites would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Linda

While looking for something to relieve my mother's arthritis in her hands and give her less pain and more flexibility, I happened to read about using the herbs cramp bark and kava kava.
I have given her a tincture of the two herbs and a cream made from olive oil with comfrey and mint and beeswax.  She puts some of the cream in her hand, then adds some drops of the tincture and massages it into her hands.  It has helped her quite a bit.
What I read about the herbs cramp bark and kava kava suggested that they relieve pain, reduce inflamation, break up the deposits in the joints, and lengthen the ligaments.  Comfrey and mint are also good for joints, muscles, and ligaments.
I don't know how to add the link to the herbal information, but you could look it up at herbs200.com or any other good herbal site.

I am new on here, but my husband was just recently diagnosed with arthritis in his right hand/wrist.  Is there anyone who knows anything about this?  He is only 29 years old, which is quite young for arthritis in my opinion.  he had blood tests done and a MRI done and the results were positive for arthritis.  He is in a lot of pain in his hand.  I would appreciate any advice or help. Thanks!!

You should read The Fungus Link by Doug Kaufmann.  Most libraries carry his books.  Actually anything you can find to read on candida or fungus or yeast would be helpful. There is a TON of info about that on this forum.  Happy hunting.   Wink

I am a big fan of Doug! I had the Fungus link but forwarded it on to friends. I am still trying to convince most people I know to try probiotics. I finished up with phys therapy for arthritis in knee. I am 37. The phys ther. says as we age we all get a bit of arthritis, no matter how fit we are. The excercise worked great with me. I had become extemely out of shape after kids and a foot fracture on the leg with the bad knee. I have been taking fish oil, as well.

Hi, I am new to this board and would like to know of any pregnancy-safe (I am 8weeks) herbs or treatments that are recommended for Rheumatiod Arthritis.  THis is our 4th child  Grin and I am experiencing a painful flare-up that just started this week. I do believe that I have a "leaky gut" and would love if anyone can share from their experience what has helped them.

Could this work with an extra dosage of CLO gel tabs?

If you mean can you take tabs instead of liquid, I would think, yes.  The liquid is stronger/more concentrated, so you would have to take more tablets to equal the amounts of fatty acids & vitamins per serving.

I just saw this come up!  The tincture with the Crampbark and Kava kava is equal parts of the 2 herbs in alcohol for at least a month.  The cream I make is from comfrey root and peppermint leaf soaked in olive oil kept heated for at least 24 hours.  There is a thread here for making creams ~ ~ let me see if I can find a link to it and I'll post it another time.

Does this work for people who have suffered with arthritis for years, or only if it's just starting?  I have a sister-in-law who has a lot of pain from RA, and it would be great if we could find something to help her.

This is an interesting thread to me!  Smiley In PTA school we (obviously) studied OA and RA.  They acknowledged RA as an autoimmune disease but never counted OA as one.  Instead they said OA was from injury or overuse or poor nutrition/hydration etc.  I am interested in the fungal link... will have to research that some more! O.kay so my dad has osteoarthritis in his lower back w/ spurs on a few discs and spondylotis   ... anyone actually tried the the CLO on an empty stomach like mentioned here and its suppose to last a few months (like you only have to do it 1x every 2-3 months) ? He's had it for 5 years and his mom and 2 brothers have it as well. He's not a health guy in the least bit so hate for him to have to choke down the CLO if it doesn't really work ya know? Smiley Hes seeing  np and the stuff he's putting him on is just making him really sick so he's not taking it. The NP already did a cleanse w/ him for the gut w/ antibiotics and than really strong probiotics to repopulate (not the way I would have chosen to do it, but oh well!)

I would bet money it will do him some good, but if he's a tough customer, maybe you should consider a high quality gelcap to get him acclimated and when they work, you can let him know that the liquid would work better but it tastes funny and let him go from there.  All of the benefits I've received from taking CLO have come from the gelcaps from NOW.
