I was thinking that a CD would be a good gift for my dad for father's day...just wondering if anybody might be able to help me trace the lyrics to a particular artist!

Here are a couple websites that may hopefully help

http://lyrics.astraweb.com/

http://www.lyricsdownload.com/gospel-lyrics.html

I have located some pretty obscure songs by using these 2 sites.  Just ignore the banner ads and pop-ups on these cause some of them are really ignorant and some are downright rude.

For anyone who likes LOTR, they have made it into a musical.
You can hear some of the songs from it.  IMO, the music isn't that out of the ordinary.  It's not bad; very broadwayish.  I think I expected a slightly different style maybe... Undecided

Here's the link if you want to listen:

Does anybody listen to country gospel?  I usually DON'T, but I was driving home from a road trip Sunday morning and apparently that was my only option on the radio, driving thru very rural Texas on a Sunday morning, & heard this song but never was able to find out who it was.  I was thinking that a CD would be a good gift for my dad for father's day...just wondering if anybody might be able to help me trace the lyrics to a particular artist!
Use google.  Type in the less common words from the song and then type the word lyrics after.  This trick has only missed once or twice for me.

Does anyone else out there listen to Dave Stamey?  My husband and I love him.  He's western, not Country, according to my husband.  I don't know the difference other than I don't like country but I love Dave Stamey.  He's very talented both in song-writing and vocally.  And the music is beautiful.  Not Christian though.  My husband has a hard time finding Christian music he likes.  We do like this CD called "Sing Over Me" though.  It's a variety of female singers singing worship songs as lullabies.  The kids listen to it as they go to sleep sometimes and I turn it up so I can hear it too.

Oh my, I loved that.  That is totally my style of music.  I am very much into instrumental music these days.  I just looked on ebay and amazon and half for his CD used but no luck.  I'm getting his CD or CDs!  Thank you for posting this!

Well, I guess at some point it may be worth just buying the CD new, just to support such amazing talent  Smiley.  I love listening to musicians with real talent like this!

Does that mean you have to have an MP3 to download it?  I am not that tech advanced!  If I can just burn a whole CD from the net (legally of course) cheaper than itunes, then that may work.

I don't know about having to have an MP3 or whatever.
I know iTunes is a free space to hold your MP3s.

I often buy something on iTunes (or somewhere else) and then burn a CD from my computer to play in the car or whereever. But, your computer has to be able to do that. :-)

that way if t he CD gets scratched I just burn another one. ALSO, I can listen to it from the computer, iPod, etc.

His website says you could just buy a CD for $15 if you don't have an mp3 player.  This is nice music.  It reminds me a lot of Steve Thorngate without vocals.  Big Steve Thorngate fans, here, although mostly because we love the vocals and lyrics.

You guys really ought to take a listen to this if you like Classical / Folky type music. Ignore the video...I think someone made some sort of birthday montage for their mom....but its the only place I could find the whole recording of the song online...

Its from a CD called Appalachian Journey....Yo Yo Ma Is the artist and I believe this particualr song was actually written by James Taylor.. I think the whistling in there is just gorgeous.

It is SO beautiful..and Im in the process of ordering the CD right now from amazon Smiley

I (& dh) really like Neal Morse (www.NealMorse.com)...his band has GREAT music and lyrics, his music hits every style there is.  My dh loves all of his stuff, my favorite cd's from him are 'Songs from the Highway' (just him and his guitar), 'Lead Me Lord', & 'Testimony'.  You can listen to some of his music (mostly him at church or them working on songs) on 'YouTube' (www.youtube.com).

In reading the thread on everyone's favorite music, I noticed that a lot of you didn't like mainstream Christian music for various reasons...and I can totally relate.  For the past several years it’s been hard for me to find good music that I enjoyed and that, most importantly, was glorifying to the Lord. Yes, there were occasional songs by various artists that met that criterion, but there were never enough that I could outright say that I really liked so-and-so’s music. But now I can…  A couple weeks ago a good friend introduced me to Sons of Korah, a Jesus-following, psalm-singing band from Australia...and they are now my absolute favorite music group! Ever since first hearing of them, they are almost the only music I've listened to in the last couple weeks and I can honestly say that I loved every single song I heard. And they were all very glorifying to God...something that’s easily accomplished since all but two of the songs were psalms set to music. And the music that the psalms are set to is right up my alley...very multi-ethnic-sounding.

So anyway...this is just a brief commercial to get you all to look at Sons of Korah... www.sonsofkorah.com (I forgot how to imbed links and am too lazy right now to look it up, sorry!). I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do!  Cheesy

This singer has been  active in the American military for many years now. He is a Christian family man .

In his free time he has done some acting and had good success with music and has sang with the big guys and is well on his way to becoming one of the big guys. We just went and watched the movie he was just in this summer.

His music is along the lines of country music styles.

This song/video is touching because it is very supportive of our military guys.

His name is Clay Smith and he is my husbands 1st cousin.

Link for the music video " Wings of freedom "  --->  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxM3Hd1kql8

Below is his myspace for more songs. My husband loves the fact that Clay Smith has a tribute song to Johnny cash since my husband has always loved Johnny Cash, it must be a family thing. LOL

Last Friday I heard and met this family who travels about doing various concerts for schools, weddings, churches and so on with their steel drum band while doing Caribbean style music. It sounds real neat and makes ya want to clap your hands and move about. When I heard them they were doing it for the local school so they were playing/singing  popular kids songs in the steel drum Caribbean style.

The kids were dancing, jumping and getting some good exercise. Also they had the kids doing the limbo, hoola hoop and much more for exercise. It was great fun.

They are a Christian group ( family). Here is their site. It plays one of their songs on each page of the site from what I have noticed. Here is the link to their gospel page.
