Any ideas for drawing out splinters right at the rim of the eye? Thumper (our Dachshund) got a splinter or sticker right at the edge of the rim of the eye. I got part of it out but it must have broke off b/c you can see the point end through the inner eyelid.
I need something to draw it out. Poor guy, his neck gland is swollen since his body is trying to keep it away from his head & he's not feeling good. Needless to say, he won't let me poke around to get it out being at his eye.
Plantain was my first thought but we don't have any growing, I'm out & the HFS didn't have it.
Don't want to use comfrey b/c I don't want it to seal over.
I ended up getting castor oil, burdock, (someone yesterday told me that Dr Christopher used to use it for drawing & I figure it won't hurt) slippery elm & flax seed. Going to try poultices of each thing one a t a time until something works. I hope one of them work anyways. Vet's always an option of course & I will if needed but that's going to get expensive.
I can't help but think I'm missing something though & figured I'd post now in case it doesn't work & for future reference for other people. Later I will also cross post it on the animal healing board as well.
