Recovering Immune System after prolonged antibiotic use

Hi, I'm new here...my dear friend Abbi loves this site.
I'm am at my ends wit to know what to do for my son. He is 16 months old and has been on antibiotics 3 times in the past few months--which I feel awful about. But, he has this routine of getting a runny nose, then he starts coughing, and after about a week-- it goes into his ears. He then spikes a fever. This last round he was on amoxicillian 10 days, after 2 days was fevering again and they put him on Augmentin for 10 days. It has been about a week since he finished that and his nose is running and he is coughing AGAIN! Poor kid, I'm not sure how to help him. I know I've probably passed on some candida, as occasionally he has had a yeast diaper rash and I had a terrible time with yeast when I was pregnant with him. He has no known allergies, and he is on a pretty regular diet.
I have powdered acidopholus, I am giving him 1/8th of a teaspoon once a day. I just bought Bovine Colostrum 5 days ago, and am giving him 1/8 teaspoon a day. I made some goot friday and rub it on him once a day. I'm giving him a cold medicine to try and dry him up. Is there anything natural that works for this?
I know there is no quick fix, but I am just hoping to not see it go into an ear infection again. I would be grateful for any insight, possibly you have experienced this with your kids and helped them through.

I used to have ear infections constantly when I was a child and basically lived on antibiotics. After years of dealing with this my tonsils swelled so large I was having breathing problems and they had to be removed. Not trying to scare you but antibiotics really are dangerous when not used properly, I personally think they should only be used in extreme cases. To help with the ear infections I now add a little bit of peroxide to my ear and leave it in there a minute or so and then let it drain for a little while and then put a cotton ball in the ear overnight and my ear ache is always gone within a day. There are also over the counter ear infection drops. Hope you find some relief for the little guy.

hi Anita! i would be a little more vigorous with the GOOT. maybe 2 or 3 times a day. my son had impetigo in his diaper and i used it every time i changed him and for a while even his poop smelled like garlic! Grin

i always start applying it when they first get sick, and warm a little garlic oil and drip it into his ears, and so far in 19 mo. he's not needed an antibiotic. my others were very prone to ear infection with every cold and i used antibiotics a lot. now i avoid them religiously. i felt he didn't need his immune system weakened even more. if you are still nursing you could put breastmilk into his ears also. good luck, and this too shall pass............
