I need some kefir grains, we have started our homestead and have dairy goats and starter is just a waste of time and money, but I can't find a place to buy grains.

Please contact me I will be happy to pay. I actually need them pretty bad right now as I have a 1 year old with chronic diarrhea I can't seem to get rid of with just yogurt.

Thanks,
Alysha

what is water kefir? Also, if anyone has any kefir grains they could send, we'll pay shipping! We were just blessed with 32 GALLONS of milk and suddenly, wondered why we didn't have kefir grains when we needed them!!!! Cheesy Kombucha scobys would be appreciated too... pm me if you have any! Thanks!!!

Just tried a method of converting milk kefir grains into water kefir grains http://www.passionatehomemaking.com/2008/06/water-kefir-tuturial.html. It's just like kefir, only you use water with sugar or juice to make a "carbonated" drink. The juice is excellent!! Tastes better than our juice spritzers we get.

I have been making water kefir.  It reminds me of what Fresca used to taste like.  I use 1/2 of a lemon, organic cane crystals, a squirt of lime juice and about 10 raisins.  Good stuff!!!

How do you know when you have enough grains to split them?

Also, I will have some scobys soon.  How do you ship them?

It doesn't really look like they're growing. I read about the water kefir grains that you can buy that they may or may not actually grow to allow splitting them up. I've been making fresh juice kefir every 2-3 days for over a week, & the grains look the same. Huh

I should have 2 scobys this week.  Can someone tell me how you mail them?  If not, they will go on my compost.  Smiley

When I received my first one, it was in a ziplock bag, inside of another ziplock bag for extra security and put into a small Priority Mail box.  About 1/2 cup of kombucha was in the bag with the scoby too.  We checked our weather conditions on both ends and when it wasn't too cold, she shipped it to me.  I imagine that weather that is too hot would also not be a good thing!

Ok, I will have one or maybe 2 this week.  PM me if you are interested.  I know the small priority mail boxes cost $4.95 to ship.
