There was enough interest in passing around SCOBYs and kefir grains that I decided to split these posts out of the regular buy/sell/trade thread for easier reference. If you posted your want/need for SCOBYs and/or kefir grains in the middle of a larger post containing other items in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread, I did not split it out. I'll leave it up to you to post it separately. Wink

Let's keep this thread clean like it's predecessor. Please only post information for obtaining or providing starters and refrain from chatting in this thread. Wink

I have kefir grains I can send to anyone who's interested. I've had to actually throw out extra ones because I didn't have anyone to give them to. Sad

I'll have enough to send out to someone about once every 1-2 weeks. I like Sarah K's instructions:

"Here's what to do:

You send a PM to me including your mailing address"

"I send them to you as soon as I have enough to fill your 'order'.

When you receive your package, you send the postage amount (as noted on the package) to my return address on the package."

It'll be nice to have the grains go to someone who wants them rather than having to waste them! Grin

P.S. Just keep in mind I won't have enough to send out until about another week. Then I'll have more 1-2 weeks after that. We keep our house at 63 degrees during the day so my kefir doesn't mature as fast as it would in someone's warmer house (we use it every other day).

Do you have any clue how it would be to send them to me in Brazil? I had some and split them with a friend too soon and mine never recovered and "grew" after that. I desperately want some more! I would like you to find out the postage for the fastest/best route and I will send you a company check BEFORE you mail them. If you can work it out, great. If not, I will keep looking........... Wink

Laura, you can send items in small boxes Air Letter Post if you send internationally. Should be $10 or so for postage to Brazil. Just wanted to let you know not to look up a parcel post price, b/c Air Letter Post is much cheaper. Also, at the PO they often will not quote you the Air Letter Post price for a small box, so you have to request it. I think some workers there just aren't aware you can send a small box that way Undecided

It might be a good idea to click "Remove" at the bottom of your post when you no longer need to have a scoby or grains sent to you. The giving away process keeps going - but you could get repeated, unnecessary offers for grains/scobys if the request is left in place.

EXCITED!!! I have been wanting a Kombucha mushroom for so long. I read about them in a newsletter i get, but didn't have a clue where to get them. Plus i was afraid to get them from some stranger. I haven't ever seen one before and what if someone sent me the wrong thing and got me high. LOL!!!

I would love to have one though. Anyone got one for me???
