. We did the vaseline and soap, I finally pulled it off w/ some tweezers. I'm just concerned b/c it's so red. I don't know how long it's been on there but he wasn't full. My husband had been scratching really bad. OF course I have no alcolhol so I rubbed some GSE on it(diluted)and gave him some Colloidol Silver.

We found a tick crawling on a piece of my ds's spiderman suit ( Roll Eyes

). We have been lucky and haven't seen one on the kids before. I am stumped though how this one got in the house onto the suit (it was in the toybox). Are ticks like ants - where there is one there are MANY? or could he have been a Lone Ranger... Grin

To my knowledge and experience, ticks are pretty much lone rangers. Now, of course there's the male and female consept, but other than that, they're basically on the own.

I posted this on another tick thread, but thought I'd add it here, too, since it seemed to fit even better here.

We use this handy little gadget when someone has a tick attached to them.

It works on the same premise as the above quote (grasp, turn counterclockwise), BUT this little tool makes it soooo much easier to do. There's no pulling or tugging involved; just grab the tick as close to the skin as possible with the little tweezer part (which clamps on so you don't have to keep applying pressure while turning), then turn slowly, slowly 'round and 'round. The tick just lets go.

So far, it has worked everytime, with no head left behind. Cool.
