Just curious as those soaps are palm oil based... are you allergic to coconut products? In a recent survey I found a surprising amount of people do not do well with coconut oil based soaps. Hmmm...

I appear to react to coconut soaps, yes; however, the the cocowalnut soap by the company I listed seems not to bother me.  Not sure on that one.

It's Mom_to_12 who made these...I wonder if they could be made into a liquid soap easily enough?  I like my salt stone!

Saponified oils of coconut, castor, almond and shea butter.  Salt and sea salt, fragrance.  The woman who makes them is a member of WTM, actually, but I don't think she's been on much...her name is something like "Momof12" but now's it's 13...Smiley...

This is what I've most resently bought but after some reading I see it has Glycerin, Pentasodium Pentate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, ....That can't be good...

The number one ingredient in commercially produced soaps seems to be sodium tallowate.
This product is nothing more than slaughterhouse waste. It can include internal organs, brain matter, etc. This is then rendered for the tallow. Bottom line is.....it's cheap but not good for your skin. Most commercially produced soaps are in fact detergents and the bottom line is............they're cheap to produce.

Also look for these ingredients in your soap:

    * Sodium Isethionate (an amphoteric detergent to make a dense lather);
    * Propylene Glycol (high exposure can cause serious health conditions such as heart damage and damage to the central nervous system);
    * Pentasodium Pentate (an inorganic salt used as a water softener and can be an eye irritant);
    * Tetrasodium EDTA (synthetic preservative wich can cause eye irritation and irritation to the mucous membranes);
    * Sodium Cocoylisethionate (synthetic detergent);
    * BHT (synthetic antioxidant to keep oils from going rancid and when ingested is implicated in tumor formation and liver enlargement in rodent tests)

Most commercially produced soaps that claim to be "Pure" and "Natural" contain fragrance and colorants.

Well Guess I'll be taking some soap back!  Roll Eyes

Dh, will not give up his poo, I've gotten him to switch to Burt's Baby Bees so what of this is bad?

Ingredients: Water, decyl glucoside, lauryl glucoside, coco-betaine, glycine soja (soy) protein, coco-glucoside, glyceryl oleate, sucrose laurate, glycerin, betaine, vanilla planifolia (vanilla) fruit extract, illicium verum (anise) oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil, eugenia caryophyllus (clove) flower oil, glucose, xanthan gum, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase, fragrance

I went thru a candida yeast cleanse. I cut out all forms of sugar, from honey, to potatoes (starch)etc. Thru this cleanse, I discovered I no longer had stinky arm pits! I have begun to slowly add some sugars back into my diet, after almost a year long sabbatical & if I have too much, the stink returns. I use Burt's Bees Sage deodorant with great results, or vodka if I am out and about as it is our hand sanitizer as well, it kills the bacteria under the arms & keeps you fresh smelling.

Should i wash the ACV off of my hair and body, or leave it on? Im always confused about that. I have tried the no poo but it doesn't work for me. My hair is all itchy and stinky. Would Burts bees shampoo or shampoo bar be ok to use?
     That's what I'm afraid of too.  I have super oily hair, and if I don't use shampoo  (haven't tried baking soda yet) I almost always have immediate oily hair.

Check out this ladies blog.  She too had oily oily hair.  She stuck out the no poo and it worked.  She has posts from the beginning to several months into it.  Her girls are doing it as well.  She gives step by step of what happens.  Here is a middle post.

I was no-soap for years b/c it dried out my skin, BUT I had switched to shower gels, which made my skin feel really nice.  BUT then I read on here (about 3 years ago) about SLS and those other nasty things, discovered them in my favorite bathing stuff, so I returned to soap, but tried to be very careful of what kind I bought (none of the "regular" stuff).

I've been no-poo for about 3 years, too.  I have curly hair, so I typically use conditioner to clean my hair, but about once a month I will put baking soda in a squeeze bottle and fill it up w/ warm shower water to dissolve and then clean my scalp/hair w/ that.  And rinse w/ ACV, of course.  I've occasionally used a shampoo bar, when I didn't have anything else available, but don't like it as well for my hair. (dry, like my skin)

One of my IRL friends has started making goats milk soap and she gave me a bar.  I used it once and it was pretty nice.  I'm not even sure I rinsed w/ ACV that day, b/c I wanted to know how my skin felt w/out it.  But last time I showered, I scrubbed w/ my homemade bath salts (which had gotten moist somehow) and my skin feels wonderful.  So I'm thinking I will go no-soap, too, at least for a while, and see how things go.

I use the crystal deodorant (when I think about it), and I occasionally notice that I'm stinky, but I'm thinking maybe it's partly the soap and partly forgetting to shower  Embarrassed  (Yes, I do have lots on my mind, and sometimes it just feels like so much effort!)

So, I too would be interested in knowing if goats milk soap is "bad" for your skin.  My friend uses lye, coconut oil, olive oil (?), regular shortening.  She doesn't use any fragrances, and I don't think anything else.

I wouldn't consider it "bad" for your skin... perhaps unnecessary. For someone who is working in grease and grime (mechanic, construction worker) I would say that soap is necessary to break down the oils. I personally use soap to shave my legs, and to wash off my mascara... that's it in the shower. Just water works well for everything else.

But as far as soaps go... the type of soap that you mentioned would be the kind I would go for if i felt that soap was necessary to remove grime... the most basic and natural as possible.

Thank you for this post.  I have not been using soap in the shower for quite some time as I found it dried out my skin.  Over the past several months, however, I have been noticing my skin is feeling dry and itchy anyway (even without soap).  Just showered this afternoon and I'm itchy already!  I've also noticed that my scalp is very dry, itchy and flakey (yuck).  I have read about using baking soda and ACV but not yet tried it.  Would using them on both my skin and hair help?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks so much!

I'd give it a shot.  It helps exfoliate dry skin and makes it feel smoother for me.  It's probably the time of year that's creating the problem for you if you live where it's cold.  Maybe you could try some healthy oils in your diet and more hydration (as in drinking more).  Try the ACV first so you're not rubbing your skin raw right away.  They work very much the same but you may have more sensitive skin that needs to stay away from the scratchy stuff even though it smooths into a paste.
